My goodness, Remi's depth and breadth of knowledge is matched only by his generosity to share his knowledge and experiences with us. Thank you, Remi, and thank you Persolaise, for the Masterclasses!

I'm shocked to here about the status of tree populations in Haiti. What a fantastic series I'm only just watching the episodes and catching up now. Thank you.

Thanks very much. Yes, sadly, there are lots of shocking stories in the perfume world.

Wonderful, especially the part about Haiti. Too few of my fellow Americans are likely aware of the extent to which our government has interfered there, installing tyrants, backing coups, etc, all of this relatively recent. (Graham Greene’s The Comedians is a good entry point for those who like history rendered through fiction.)
@Persolaise2 жыл бұрын
Ah, good old Greene. I don't know that particular one. Thanks for the recommendation.

Why is Bourbon Vetiver disappearing? From Parfume d’Empire: A homage scent that conjures the iconic vetiver Bourbon it is named after, now extremely rare since it has all but disappeared from the island of La Réunion where it was once widely grown. This is vetiver untamed, torn from the earth of the island of La Réunion.
@Persolaise2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had that scent in mind when asking the question. According to the brand, this was a special, limited batch of oil that was produced.

@@Persolaise the following samples are in transit to me; I saw your review of Bourbon Vetiver & included it among the five; would it be possible for you to rank them in order of your own personal preference? Thank you in advance for your attention: Sample 1: Vétiver Bourbon Sample 2: Wazamba Sample 3: Tabac Tabou Sample 4: Musc Tonkin Sample 5: Aziyadé

@mahasidha9 Thank you so much for writing. I find it almost impossible to rank perfumes. Enjoy wearing the samples and discovering all that they have to offer to you.

@@Persolaise Please know it is not my intention to be or sound in any way argumentative when I say that I have been following you for several years and most enjoy The Top 10 Frangrances for Winter 2022, The Top 10 Frangrances for...to me who admittedly has "list consciousness" these are rankings! From the universe of available fragrances you have picked the ones you prefer, and they are most appreciated, as a guide. Perhaps therefore I used the wrong word, ranking when I should have asked, of the five samples that are hopefully soon to arrive what are YOUR preferences, recognizing of course that everyone's preferences are different. Not to beat a dead horse but I have a many niche fragrances but find myself gravitating to some more than others. Some I "prefer" more than others :)

Enjoyed most of the discussion but I must say I'm disappointed in the reduction of the entire continent of Africa to one where the men are lazy etc. Could have been better explained without resorting to such tired tropes

Thanks very much for this, Fatima. I think it's always so important that generalisations have a limited usefulness, because that is precisely what they are: generalisations.
