I’m guessing this got discontinued in addition to anything that was directed by Tom Ford (i.e. Gucci Pour Homme I, etc.). When Tom Ford left, they probably were forced to sign a severance agreement that required a discontinuation of certain products launched under the TF directive. It is very sad that it has been discontinued, as it was a phenomenal fragrance.

At first, a few years ago, I had a very bad picture of perfumery in my mind. I knew perfumes as something, that douchebags put on their skin to impress people with their egocentric behaviour. For me, every perfume smelled the same. And when I smelled it on other people, I usually didnt like it at all. It was very disturbing to me. Especially when people put a ton of perfume on their skin. I changed my opinion, when I first went into a perfumery and tried out different scents. Just then I noticed the art behind it, and I started to like it very much. I enjoy the variety and creativity in perfumery. I still dont really like it, when every man wears sauvage, and an amount that makes it hard to breathe, but in contrast I am always very happy to smell something new when I meet strangers. I myself wear Platinum Egoiste. Please continue making those videos Aaron, always a pleasure to watch them!

Great review Aaron! :) I too cannot understand how people can be so judgemental and harsh on fragrances and trying to smash them with their comments etc. Those comments should be a description to inform other people, who are interested in the particular scent and that didn't or cannot try it. But most of them are just filled with hate :/ ok enough about this, thanks for the review and please keep doing what you do ✌️

I won’t ever forget this smell. Got given a sample of this from a magazine must have been back in the 90s when I was a kid. Smells always bring back memories and make you think of certain times and I’d love to smell this smell once again.

I still have TWO bottles of Gucci Envy and continue to get compliments whenever I wear it. One of my favourites. Why it got discontinued is beyond me? It is a timeless classic and they should bring it back. Very nicely made cologne indeed!

My all time favorite fragrance! So good, one of the best sandalwoods I've ever experienced. They don't make designer fragrances like this anymore. Amen for saying what you said about the state of mental health in the fragrance community. People can be absolutely awful to each other just because someone like Aventus or if they like clones or whatever. 100% agreed, get your shit together and stop trying to be edgy and stop insulting people because that's not how normal people behave.

Absolutely loved this one in the late 90's and early 00's. Got through several bottles. I believe this was discontinued due to corporate politics when Tom Ford left Gucci. Santal by Floris comes pretty close. Big love Aaron, you are appreciated.

Holy crap! I haven’t seen that bottle since I was in middle school. My mom bought that for my dad and I remember wearing it back in the day when I was 13-14. Loved wearing that and Gucci poure homme II

I loved this fragrance back when it first came out (1998), I think I got through 5 bottles in the 4 years after launch. Homme Carven (1999) gave me the same vibes which has also been discontinued. I still have about 50% left of Envy and 80% of Homme Carven and only use them maybe once or twice as I don't want them to end. It's a shame houses let go of greatness to make way for fashionable and sales. I think Chanel is the only house that keeps the oldies going and maybe Dior but the rest let some real gems go. I'm wearing Versace man in the purple bottle (2003) today at it is beauty from that era 1999- 2003 that designers were so great and daring.

I was given a gift set back in high school. It came with a 3.4oz bottle of the fragrance and 3.4oz splash bottle of aftershave. I wore it often, but never bought a back up bottle. Fast forward to now, and I couldn't believe how much a bottle goes for now! Thankfully I found a travel sprayer with refill, amazing the memories it brought back as soon as a I wore it again.

I’m sure that when Tom Ford left Gucci the new bods in charge wanted to exert their own influence & to draw a line under his tenure (especially as he left after a fight with them over creative control). He left Yves Saint Laurent at the same time, as he had bought YSL while he was at Gucci & his YSL fragrances also vanished or were reformulated. More about ego & business contracts than about perfumery !

One of the best fragrance ever made ( if not the best) . Especially one first version before reformulation. Why they discontinued it ? It's crime... I'm craving for this 😫 fragrance. If I knew they discontinue it I should but 20 bottles. It was cheapish like 50 £ for 100ml . Now? It's for millionaires 500 £ last bottles online. I even wrote letters to Gucci for explanation. No response. Any chance for bringing it back? Because I know hundreds people thinking the same. Bring it back. Bring it back! Bring it back! Also...Gucci Rush for man was lovely. This 2 fragrances are about interesting incense interpretations ( unusual)

Gucci discontinued all their old fragrances from their men's line like Gucci Pour Homme, Gucci Pour Homme II and Gucci Rush to put focus on their Gucci Guilty line. Also Tom Ford was involved with most of those fragrances so its like the company wanted to move on in a new direction. So they went for more mass appeal and safe fragrances for higher sales with their Gucci Guilty line. Aaron I'm glad got you hands on this masterpiece, I cherish the 10mls I own and hope I never run out. I'm glad you like it 😊

As for this fragrance, I LOVE envy, but I'm not going to hunt it down when personally, Alexandria makes an excellent clone of it and I feel amazing wearing it. I absolutely loathe that it was discontinued. This, to me, is in the same 'league' as Le Male and should still be made and sold in spades.

Beautiful message in the beggining. You 're a nice guy except of an artist. thumbs up !!! About 2005-06 due to IFRA regulations companies which used to use animal origin materials as notes or fixatives had to comply with new rules. That had as a result many fragrances to be discontinued. YSL-M7, Gucci-Rush and many more.

Aaron, I so, so wish you got your hands on DK for Men (1994). Too expensive to buy this discontinued gem but if you got a small decant of it, I'd love to hear your expert thoughts on it. I feel it dethrones Aventus even though it's long gone. I never smelled anything like it but it was a favorite of mine when I was younger and foolish. A scent for an old world baron or prince.

I remember that the brand seems to have signed a contract with Tom Ford or the parent company behind it, which means that the perfume products and even fashion designs (perhaps only perfumes) during Tom Ford must be discontinued, it seems because of this. Because even if the information is inaccurate, the brand's suspension of production must be due to reasons such as contracts, and the cost of commercial operations of capital.

Gucci Envy for Men is one of my favorite fragrances. It's in the top 20 of my nearly 200 bottle collection. But if my pound to USD conversation rate is correct, the price of this highly sought after discontinued classic is at least three times that quoted by you. I have a small 15ml bottle and that cost a lot. I also have the Dua clone called Covet, which if you can stand the jet fuel like fixative they use is pretty good.

Oooooh my God. Where did you get the bottle from? The perfume is the best perfume ever. Even better than Chanel egoiste. I had it in early 1998 and it was a durability and sillage bomb. Almost too hard. But it smelled so delicious. It's a shame it's no longer produced.
