It's getting hard not to give another eye roll 🙄 when I hear about designer's making a new "Elixir" YSL is probably the 7th or 8th house to do it since Dior Sauvage Elixir. It's time for these companies to think outside the box and be more creative naming their fragrances; heck even using synonyms for the word elixir would be a nice change. Dominique Ropion is a master perfumer with an extensive catalog of successful fragrances. On of the best perfumers in the world. Thanks for the review

I’m a redhead and I’ve noticed that things smell EXTREMELY different on my skin compared to other people. I can spray things on my skin then spray them on my blonde girlfriend and they smell like two different frags. Almond smells extremely sickly sweet and takes over the whole frag on my skin, it’s all you can smell. Vetiver smells like burning rubber on my skin. But on my GF they smell fine and almond is barely noticeable. It’s really strange…

I used to be a huge YSL fan, still am when it comes to their fashion as well as La Nuit l' Homme (as well as the perfume version), I haven't smelled this exact Y L'elixir but all the Y's as well as Blue Electrique that I did try I did not like. There is just something in all of them that gives me strong bodywash/shaving gel vibes and I can't excuse that in such higher end/expensive fragrances. Obviously I'm subjective but I find them a tad too generic and blue for my taste, especially for a 100eur pricepoint. Aaron, as always it's an absolute treat watching you break down fragrances, thanks for the channel and I'm looking forward to restocks from your line and hopefully the ability to ship to Montenegro; I'm incredibly looking forward to trying Raw Cherry!

Agreed, I love the L’Homme/La Nuit line, but the entire Y line is so generic and boring. Can’t stand it. Women love them though
@mluka179 ай бұрын
@@TheFeintOfHearts I've noticed that as well; same "issue" I've had with Sauvage for example. Never could get into it, just fell really short from all expectations; but a friends who's worn basically only it for the last 5 or so years continuously gets compliments from women. However I'm fine with smelling great to myself and then once in a while there comes a lady with a refined nose and enjoys some of the niche fragrances I like too :)

@@mluka17I like the Y intense as it’s a little bit more mature than the edt or edp but it still is quite generic and it’s not really exciting. But it is a nice dumb reach especially in the summer if I pop into a shop or just want to smell nice after a shover.

I hate the word opus as well! As a musician I'll never understand that word when it comes to perfumes - I do see color or shape when I smell a perfume but never hear song haha. Just senseless! On the topic of the perfume itself, it's interesting as always to get your perspective. A lot of people have bashed this elixir as being uninspiring or not different enough from the rest of the "Y" line, but I'm really intrigued and attracted to this perfume because of what you mentioned about the amount of essential oils and raw materials in it. Of all the perfume reviewers on youtube, you are by FAR my favorite. Your perspective as a perfumer on not only the ingredients but your appreciation for how they are blended and also the perspective you're able to provide on how good something is relative to its pricing is really something that I don't get anywhere else. Also the way you draw shapes and describe a perfume breakdown just makes so much sense to me because of what I mentioned of how I can sometimes get colors and shapes from perfumes! Thanks for another quality review as always :)

I think it's interesting to hear Arron say that the price is good on this. I feel most are complaining that the price is way off from the amount you get. If anyone knows how much this should cost, it is Arron. This is going to be one of those fragrances that after a little bit people will come around and say it is great but that will most likely be too late cause they will have either discontinued it or reformulated it so that way it is cheaper.
@OmarZ779 ай бұрын
No, people are complaining because it smells 90% like other YSL Y fragrances. It is super redundant. Just a cash grab. Next they’ll do Elixir Extreme that also smells the same. I hope it gets discontinued because it is really generic and not complex at all. YSL can do so much better.
@Mr.E.Fragrance9 ай бұрын
@@OmarZ77 The caveat being they like it but for the price with the fact that it is just another Y gives them no real reason to buy a full bottle at retail price. Let's face it if it was as much as all the rest in the line, they would be its really nice, some might even think it's the best in the line. But it is graded on a curve the second you take the price into account.
