Hey bud! I've only tried the Oud synth (Firemenich) and I love it. Enough to dilute it and wear it by itself lol In a 1% dilution I pick nuances of vetiver, safraleine or maybe safranal, IES and maybe traces of PEA. It's a beautiful material really and brings to mind M7 in a formula I made that nestles the oud base in a cocoon of coumarin, lavender, ambrettolide, oakmoss :)
@perfumers_apprentice3 жыл бұрын
There’s no lavender in M7… I have a formula for it and made it recently and smells pretty much identical to M7

I feel like Clearwood is going to be Geza Schoen's next Molecule fragrance. Love Clearwood smells great with pineapple vanilla accords.

Oh thank you very very much! This is really useful information. I wanted to know if I can dilute my synthetic oud further than 50% and now I've got the answer.
@bkscents70503 жыл бұрын
Oud is potent....depending on how small your trial blend batches are, I might even dilute it down to 10%

Great video mate. I have been using pure oils for most of my life and I am trying to do an alcohol blend recently. So which is the strongest Oudh synthetic you recommend ? Very animalic and barnyard ?

For some reason, whenever I use clearwood it gives me a "splinter-y" smell that sort of prickles my nose and I can't figure out why...even at smaller doses! Maybe it's just not the material for me, I wish I could use it and enjoy it! Great video as always!

Have you ever used Oud Synth 10760 E from Firmenich? It's supposed to be the most aithr tic synthetic oud and I'm curious what your take is.
@delight88883 жыл бұрын
Black Agar is for me not oud more woody... I’m creating a smoke accord with Birch & Cade added..might add oakmoss

Clearwood out of the bottle smells fantastic ... but on skin it is not really a pleasure. I'm not sure if it is a good idea to use it in the same dosage as ISO E Super. I've heard that you should use it in combination with natural Patchouli!? What is your opinion?
@bkscents7050 Жыл бұрын
Clearwood has a good amount of Patchoulol in it. I would never replace iso e super with it. But yes, I use it on its own as a clean patchouli...or in conjunction with normal patchouli oil.

Been looking at these ingredients, very informative... good video! Do you have any experience of Russian Leather from Perfumers Apprentice?
@bkscents70503 жыл бұрын
If the "russian leather" is one of thier own made house blend materials, I haven't tried it. I just stick with Suederal LT for a general leather suede note.

@@bkscents7050 I’m getting the Russian leather delivered today, be interesting to see what it is like. I’ve added the one you mention to my basket at PA I must order that pineapple accord from creating perfume... would like a nice blackcurrant to go with this 👍🏻

Where does Sylvamber fall in the materials you've reviewed?
@bkscents70503 жыл бұрын
Slyvamber is a tricky one. I have it, but I find myself never reaching for it. It falls in the place between Timbersilk/IES and cedramber. I tend to think of it as a much stronger IES type profile, ...but not as ambergris as cedramber. Slyvamber is kinda dry too.

You are dead-on right about Black Agar doesn't smell anything like Oud because Black Agar is Givaudan's impression of Agarwood (Or Aloeswood) and not Oud. I have a sample of natural Agarwood (Plantation) from Eden Botanicals and to me Black Agar mimics that woody profile of agarwood. You are correct about Pretty Oud as well, that name is really deceptive. If you smell it having Oud on your mind you will be disappointed. To me its neither Pretty nor Oud but its a nice soft woody material nevertheless.

Does the black agar soluble in DPG?

I haven't tried it yet....but I don't see why it wouldn't be. DPG is a very common dilutant
