I don't mix consistently enough to dedicate a specific area just to tinkering. Your layout is head & shoulders above what I've got going on. I too have been caught in the time trap of hunting down a material that I know I have. It's frustrating, but I think eventually my frustration will motivate me to better organization. Thank you for the tour of your workspace.

Great! I recently discovered those rounded labels for bottles and they are great. I also found small colored dots that I add on top of the circular stickers to differentiate top (blue), middle (green) and bottom (red).

The color coded dots seem like a fantastic idea. I have like 20 different colored sharpie markers that I think I'm going to incorporate to the sticker labels......I just haven't figured out a color coding system yet

I like how you set it all up especially the materials organized by type on the rack so you can still see them all. Being able to see all my materials organized and laid out helps with my creative process. I like to get those round sticker labels but in the ultra tiny colored version and color code top, middle, and base notes on the bottles. But I'm pretty obsessive so its probably unnecessary for most lol.

@@bkscents7050 Yep, I completely understand. Stuff like that distracts me real bad. I tinker with materials and have quite a bit, but not as much as you do. I keep everything separated by Top, Heart and Base and I don't pre-dilute except Aldehydes. That excludes the pre-diluted materials purchased that way already. Like you, I group my top, heart and base notes in categories of ( e.g. ) "Green, "Herbaceous", Citrus, etc.....I also got tired of going through plastic pipettes, so I bought a boatload of 30ml. Boston Bottles with droppers and keep a "dedicated" bottle that's labeled for each oil. This allows me to just put the dropper back in the bottle and not worry about cleaning it after each use.
@bkscents7050
@bkscents7050 3 жыл бұрын
Watch out for those dropper top style bottles. They are not very air tight and I noticed in the summertime when it gets hot in my place....the materials inside were evaporating away.
@AromiErotici
@AromiErotici 3 жыл бұрын
@@bkscents7050 No doubt. I don't use the Boston Bottles to "hold" materials. I use them for their glass dropper inside. Each Boston bottle is "dedicated" to a specific material and their respective glass droppers never see another material other than what it's specified for. The bottles themselves just house the droppers for me. It's actually cheaper to use glass pipettes in this way than buy separate glass pipettes.

It was the most logical way if I was going to store things in drawers and looking down on them. I couldn’t stand how I used to have to pick up each bottle to read the side of the label. Now I don’t even have to pick them up, it’s all written on the tops!

Hi BK.. i have a few questions for you.. 1. Organising chemicals as per families is better or to just have them arranged alphabetically ? 2. As you always back up your synthetics with Naturals, do you have a prest ratio between the 2 you try to achieve ? as in 30 - 70 or 50-50 ?

Hey off topic, but do you ever have leakage issues with bottle crimping? Are the atomizers higher quality with this design, opposed to screw top?
@bkscents7050
@bkscents7050 3 жыл бұрын
It depends....it's hit or miss with leakage with crimped sprayers. The only leakage I've ever had was coming from the actual sprayer push down button, not around the crimped edges. So it's gonna vary depending on what type of quality you buy and from whom. I see some big houses now are starting to have screw tops though....but maybe they are doing it for cost factors (cheaper).

@@bkscents7050 Oh no! Didn't mean to do that. I think those boxes do plenty enough! I keep most of my odds and ends in different boxes since I still own lots of fragrances and ship stuff out often. My diluted materials are currently in a carboard box. However I did manage to retrofit a tin box with impact foam to hold all my 4ml samples. Currently saving money for a scale before I buy shelves or a cabinet for storage.
