Thanks to your well produced and through review I bought the Pergear 25mm to use with my Olympus OMD-EM10 Mark II and my Lumix G85. It looks like it will be fun to play with and you can't beat the price (I got mine for $59 direct from Pergear). And the SHARPNESS, my main criteria for a lens, compared to the others in it's class is superb.

The colors look amazing. What did you do for the photos(RAW or Jpeg) and videos. What was your settings for your color profile like sharpness and noise reduction etc. Your settings in camera plus the lens just makes it look amazing.

Which one would you recommend among this, the meike 25mm f1.8 and the 7artisans 25mm f1.8? I currently own the Lumix 14 to 42mm and the Olympus 45mm f1.8. I like the footage I get with the prime lens but it's cumbersome to position it in my relatively small space and get a wide-ish shot. I am thinking of picking up a budget 25mm equivalent lens which can give some nice shallow depth of field for videos. Thanks!

It would be useful to know if the DoF scale is accurate. I would think one of the attractions of glass like this would be to do zone focusing. Another focusing skill and useful for street photography.

Seems great, but I have now ten years old 20mm/f1,7 and it does not seem to offer anything extra and it lacks autofocus. Actually it might be great for timelapse, because lens with electronic control seem to have slightly inconsistent aperture setting between shots.

Looks like a good one indeed! I like the bokeh, the breathing is minimal (normal) and size is great. Maybe some Chromatic Abs @ 4:19 (?), but that's the extreme case anyways. Close focus quality seems soft, but since there's very little CA, it's alright. Definitely has the vintage quality to it's rendering in a good way. Nice one!

I see no CA at that shot whatsoever. That samples is mostly for the bokeh. Close-up quality is very good, just the DoF is not enough for the whole watch face in that shot.

@@TheHybridShooter 4:19 looks to me like greenish CA tint on the highlights, but it's not much (not bothersome) and it's the extreme scenario anyways. Nature close-ups (close to macro levels) look softish like in the classic vintage lenses, but just a little further away and the quality seems quite nice indeed. Sharp and with good bokeh. With these samples i'd use this for many general uses (great for videos too), but leave the closest of close-ups to macro lenses. For the price, it's really quite good!

IF you mean on the bracelet, that is a reflection of my t-shirt as I was standing behind the camera :) CA would be visible on contrasting edges. I have no problem using this at minimal focus distance, you just need to stop down a bit.

if this lens is apsc and you can't see the vignetting because it's cropping on the image coming from the lens, then it means it's 25mm only on apsc (like sony's apsc), making it 38mm or so on gh5 (in terms of a native mft lens' field of view, like lumix 25mm) and also meaning apx 38mm in terms of fullframe. it doesnt make much sense to me what im saying and im confused, is this right? is it just the mount thats mft, or is the fov also mft (meaning same fov as a native 25mm mft lens like lumix 25mm)?

No. This is a 25mm lens on every sensor size. What you are talking about it equivalent FoV. You will get different FoV on APC-S and M43 ofc.

@@TheHybridShooter thanx for the fast reply, but sorry i'm still confused. i know how 25mm lumix looks on a mft, and how 35mm 1.8 oss looks on sony apsc and they show similar field of view. is this manual lens showing that same field of view? or will the camera crop on the lens? i'm trying to determine if it will look the same as the native lumix 25mm in terms of fov. i think my confusion is also caused by the fact that these chinese manual lenses say apsc on the box but they have mft versions too and they still put apsc on the box or in the description

There isn't really anything to explain, you just need to remember where is it sharpest.

Purchased it based on your review. The lens arrived with a fairly large shard (of metal?) inside. Focusing feels like grinding. Unacceptable, even for a lens within this price range. Quality control subpar. Returning it straight away. Lesson learned.

@@javierperea8967 Not really and no. 25mm F1.7 is OK lens but it has severe focus shift issues and very average optical character. This lens is more interesting IMO. It is completely different optical design than 7artisans.
