English does not have rules about phonetic, see "Laugh" against "Love", "Dough" vs. "Through" etc. German is for more precise in phonetic.

German native here. The family name of Vincent is spoken, like you would say "timer", but with "k" of course.

I wonder about the use of the word “beautiful” in games like chess or go. A long time ago I heard a commentator use the word “cowardly” when describing a move, where in retrospect it was the only move to save the game into a draw. Since the arrival of AI, I guess the most useful adjectives are “good” and “bad”, the former indicating such a move has a high chance to win or save the game. In this sense I wonder whether calling a move beautiful is useful at all, where it is quite possible that the ugly alternative is just the better move.

Yeah interesting points, some moves just are aesthetically pleasing though for example in a recent Magnus game there were two mate in 2 combos in the same position but one involved sacrificing the queen so that was the more beautiful continuation and I got told off by quite a few ppl in the comments for not showing it haha. Beautiful play Im a 500 and saw the Bishop move that Magnus missed and saw a lot of the other moves he made too, but I just dont have the experience to ever convert such moves into a winning position without making a blunder somewhere lol
