Ask me how much money I have to go to the dentist. I’ll give you a hint- it’s $0.00. I spent $14,000 to have crappy work done by a supposed “reputable “ dentist only to be miserable.

Can deep cleaning make your gums more infected since they are probing under the gum line and destroying the fiber
@josephrnemeth5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, good question. During a deep cleaning, we clean all the way up to the fibers but not past them. We will clean below the gum line, all the way up to the attachment, but we do not break the fibers.

@@josephrnemeth After having been diagnosed with a nerve problem as the cause of my pain between two implants I have, I have sought out an Oral Surgeon in Chicago who has said I do not have a nerve problem but PERIIMPLANTITIS. He has me trying to wash some antiobiotic liquid in underneath the tooth slipping the liquid in past the gum line. I am sick after realizing I have been misdiagnosed and put on high levels of neurontin and tegretol. The OS is a noted NERVE SPECIALIST in the Chicago region but he recognized this was not a nerve problem right away. Said most OS's were not willing to put in the work to solve the problem. So, at the moment, using a Q tip to get the antibiotic liquid in under the implant to hopefully help the infection. The way he originally caught the problem I should mention is that he probed around the two implants and they bled like crazy. So question Dr Nemeth, any other methodology short of pulling the implant (although this may not be a bad idea it would seem temporariily) to get that liquid down in there to fight the infection? Thanks. Ken

@Rob G Rob, I have cut my gabapentin in half, added tylenol and aleve and my pain is better. Without any drugs though, the pain is debilitating, not a soreness. Sharp, sharp pain. I have tried cortisone shots into the Inferior Alveolar Nerve and a Debridement, no help. We now probably will pull the implant. $4000 down the drain but I am at a point where I will do just about anything. Sorry for the late response. Are you considering pulling the implant?

They have suggested that I have the implant removed, let it heal and try again. I told them that once it comes out, it's not going back in. They tell me that the implant looks good. They can see nothing wrong. It's a big old mystery, I guess. I had implant failure of my #8 after 5 years. No signs that anything was wrong with it until it was already too late. I woke up one day and noticed some puss and a bit of inflammation + throbbing. Got back in with my oral surgeon right away and he had to remove the entire thing. There had been a ton of bone loss and he was surprised the implant didn't feel wobbo. This was one year ago. He did another bone graft, I waited months for that to healand just had the implant surgery again about 2.5 weeks ago. Though all of the swelling on the outside of my face went away after 5 days and I'm not in any pain, the area still feels strange. I can feel that something is in there and it feels weird when I touch it. There is also what feels like a lump under my lip, up towards the top of my gums in the area of the implant. I wonder if this is a normal part of the healing/integration process or if there is something wrong with this one already. Maybe it's infected? It also throbs on and off and it has been more than 2 weeks! I'm so worried that this one too is failing or is infected (I took the full course of antibiotics after the surgery, not that that's a guarantee to prevent infection) I already had my one week check up and my oral surgeon seemed slightly concerned with the stiffness and throbbing I was still experiencing. I guess I'll have to call him again tomorrow to have it looked at a 2nd time. I'm not feeling optimistic at this point and if this fails for a 2nd time, I'm done. I'm not going to be trying for a third.😥😔 Guess I'll just wear the flipper for the rest of my life.

@brianmsahin5 жыл бұрын
@@karenstevens1535 Of course there are exceptions as in every medical situation, however the vast majority of people who have bad teeth simply do not take care of them. Bad diet and bad oral hygiene is the cause of the vast majority of problems. People do not think about their teeth until it is too late. That's just a fact and there is no other way to sugar coat it, no pun intended. It's just like the people who are obese claim they have big bones or it's in the genes, the truth is most of them just eat too much. If they stopped eating so much and started some exercising they wouldn't be fat. If those who lose teeth stopping drinking sodas, stopped smoking, stopped eating crap, took care of their teeth and visited a dentist once in a while their live would be different. Even with risk factors if you take proper care 99.9% of people can keep their teeth until death. You yourself mentioned failed implant surgery. If you had to have an implant you haven't taken care of your teeth. With regular dental visits you don't need to lose teeth. I have 6 kids, the oldest is 30, the youngest 23. ( A couple of sets of twins) We made sure they brushed properly and from the day they had their first permanent tooth, it was 6 monthly visits to the dentist. Not a cavity, a filling or an implant amongst them. The only teeth removed for a couple of them were wisdom teeth. People tell themselves it wasn't their fault but it usually is.
