Peridiam, thank you for bringing up Angela’s boneheaded move at Final 6 in Ghost Island. It always irked me how the minority three had a perfect chance to take out a massive threat in Dom and Angela blew it to high hell and basically signed Sebastian’s death warrant. She doesn’t tell Dom about the extra vote who knows how that tribal plays out. I think there’s a pretty solid chance Dom goes home with an idol in his pocket if she just keeps her mouth shut. If she doesn’t tell Dom about the extra vote that Sebas has, I don’t think Dom feels threatened enough to play his idol.

Angela's blunder is one of the few Survivor plays that quantifiably infuriated me. She didn't just sink her own ship out of nervousness, she sake several other people's who did absolutely nothing wrong.

I will say for Elaine that Missy and Aaron were already trying to sell her out at the swap, which she was probably told. So while flipping to Tommy wasn't great, it was a lose-lose situation so might as well flip on someone who is a confirmed backstabber.

@@ballstomper6756 Cirie voting for Andrea only sent her into a downward spiral. With Sarah, Brad and Troyzan being a united group and each of them having safety via immunity idols and Brad’s challenge dominance + Sarah’s steal-a-vote, she had no chance of breaking up that trio, let alone winning because she was being iced out of the core because she could never win a challenge or find any advantages. Also, her social game with the people in the end-game also wasn’t that good. Nobody was taking her to the end except Michaela so eliminating Andrea then trying to blindside Tai left her 3rd in an alliance that were all vulnerable (because again, she kept Brad in the game who would go on to win every single immunity from F7 onwards) and basically whoever won that F6 immunity challenge on either side would have the majority. It kind of put her in a similar situation with the Kimmi vote out in SC except she could literally not vote anyone out because they were all safe.

Two dumb moves that don't get enough heat that I can think of are 1) Joel weakening the Fans tribe by targeting Mary and Mikey over Chet, then only FINALLY targeting Chet when he needs Chet for numbers at the swap and 2) Savaii taking out a loyal number in Elyse over the obvious outsider Cochran and still not bothering to make Cochran comfortable

Hey Peridiam! I have a random video idea but what about figuring out which job is most “successful” in Survivor. We always have waiters, students, teachers, etc. so which “career” is the best in Survivor? Think about it. Sarah and Tony have three wins under their belt and Sarah got fourth place. So taking this into account, on average cops tend to do good. But Val was voted out second in SJDS and Tony second in GC so brings average down Tom and Jeremy are both firefighters who have won. Jeremy has made merge all three times he’s played. Keith has also made Final Five the two times he’s played. So are firefighters better at Survivor than cops? Silly idea but it popped into my head a while ago EDIT: I meant Val was voted out second

Going on the Gabon play, even if Bob gives up immunity, I actually don't think he goes home. We get a tie where Susie, Ken and Crystal all vote Bob and I think Matty flips over to Sugar and Bob to vote Crystal. Also Rotu 4 voting out Gabe was a good addition to the video

You forgot about the idol. In Gabon, the idol expired at six, so it was 100% being used. I imagine sugar would use it on Bob in this scenario. There would be no tie.

My underrated dumb move is by Xander at the split tribal in 41. If he had used his extra vote along with Evie he could've forced a tie and would've basically made Deshawn and Danny have to give up Liana unless they wanted to go to rocks between themselves. This would not only have secured him a strong ally in Evie and taken a shot at the core of the majority alliance, but it would have also corrected the opinion of him that was developing of him not being willing to make big moves and the perception is ultimately what made him a goat by the endgame. I can understand him not wanting to give up his idol at that point when he was already safe, but all that for just the price of an extra vote sounds like a very sweet deal

I know Evvie wasn’t really with Xander, but letting Evvie get eliminated then was seriously risky Naseer had just been blindsided and currently the number just went from a majority of 6 to 5 With Erika, Heather, Xander, and Evvie being outside of it, if Evvie stays then they don’t need to depend on Ricard flipping on Shan. Leaving Liana, Danny, and Deshawn all in the game was a massive risk avoided by Danny and Deshawn making one of the worst new era moves by ousting Shan too early.

John making the decision to vote out Gabe ultimately led to the decimation of him and his three allies, one by one. It was a hugely epic move for the underdogs, and I loved every second of it!!

I just finished rewatching the Marquesas and yes that move isn’t nearly talked about enough. John knows he can’t trust Rob and Sean and Gabe wouldn’t be bothered to flip since he never cared about winning in the first place

Love this list, particularly the final entry. Marquesas has always stuck in my mind as an underrated yet baffling season. The whole General/John/Zoe/Tammy alliance never made sense...there were 9 players left, and these 4 thought they had a hammerlock on the game, to the point that they flaunted it at the final 9 reward challenge and ended up getting picked off one by one by the other 5 players. Amazingly enough, 5 is greater than 4! I had never looked at the Gabe vote the way you did here...in my mind it was a matter of getting rid of a loose cannon, but your angle makes a ton of sense. Keep up the great work!

Mike half of her idol in HHH is the worst underrated bad move to me It wasn’t even like the idols Kim and Sophie had in winners at war where they needed to give half to give the idol power She literally just gave away her idol while she knows her and Ben are the biggest targets of that tribal Giving it to Mike literally had no benefit and just allowed Mike to prevent her from saving herself

You know, if Alexis doesn't messed up at the final 7 reward, I'm not sure Erik gives up immunity. Since Amanda was a very big part of that, being half of the 1-2 punch emotional manipulation plan with Natalie, and if Alexis doesn't send her to Exile, she probably gets voted out at 6

Chanelle’s decision to risk (and ultimately lose) her vote hours before tribal after telling Omar she couldn’t risk her vote has to be one for the books. It results in Jenny going home and losing the trust of her entire tribe. Then, come merge, the stigma follows her and no one wants to work with her so she gets voted out. This move changed the course of the season and I don’t think it gets talked about enough in the realm of dumbest moves ever.

It was dumb for two reasons because after the fact Daniel and Chanelle were set up to go with either pair. If they pivot and go with Hai and Lydia they are ok, but they went in tribal hoping for multiple things to fall their way and it did not

This move is so dumb. Chanelle knows Mike lost his vote due to the beware advantage, meaning if they side with him and Jenny they only have 2 votes. Daniel asks which duo they should side with and Chanelle still sticks with targeting Lydia even though they don’t have a clear majority anymore. Then Hai brings in a hail mary and suggests throwing a vote on Mike in case an idol is played, but Chanelle tries to change his plan, making Hai feel suspicious and uneasy at tribal. Just so much that went wrong

Natalie and/or Alexis not flipping the Jason vote into the fans collectively voting out Parvati or Cirie. Kinda cemented the fundamental flaw with FvF-fans would rather compete with the favorites rather than compete against the favorites.

At that point the favorites voted out 3 of their own in a row Ami Eliza and Ozzy so it wasn’t too clear but at the same time Parvati and Amanda were the closest pair and Cirie strongly associated with them. Missed opportunity that looks worse in hindsight but it’s hardly the same level of mistake as the Samburu players in final 9 and 8.

They didn't need to flip, they were actually really close to pushing Amanda/Parvati out of the game just as it was. With Erik on their side and Cirie unwilling to go to rocks, the only thing standing between Natalie/Alexis and controlling the game was Amanda finding the idol. Which is why the decision to send her to Exile remains completely baffling.

Don't really think they'd be in control of the game considering they'd only do what the 3 female favorites told them to do. Which is why 1. Fans v Favorites is not as appealing as it sounds. 2. I have a hard time buying the majority of new players on Micro being actual fans of the show 3. The post merge fans were not that bright. That scenario kinda just reinforces what a missed opportunity not flipping the Jason vote was., particularly when you consider how pissed James was at Parvati to throw a vote on her, that would have been an easy Parv elimination. But obviously these are "fans" in a "fans v favorites" season so I don't think that crossed their mind.

Low-key I kinda get Ken testing Will because a flip when it’s *only* 5-to-4 is ill-advised, unless Will was thinking of a long/term switching of alliances. Also DEAR LORD that is probably the perfect number 1 given I’d never heard it brought up as a dumb move before!

Yeah but it's the way he goes about it. If Will hadn't been so adamant about adding "big moves" to his resume, this would've most likely backfired and scared him off back to the other side. Potentially, they change the target off Hannah now that they know that the other side knows their target and on to someone else, perhaps even Ken as a safe vote. This could've easily been a game ending move and on another season with other players, it very well might've been.

How about a list of ,,Top 5 big moves which weren't that great in hindsight"? What I'm thinking is something like Jesse in 43: flushing Karla's idol was a perfectly orchestrated move, but now it's clear that keeping Karla's and Cody's idol would enable him to auto-eliminate Cassidy (the biggest challenge threat) at F5, and leave Karla to possibly make fire with him as the other jury threat (which he'd probably won based on her injuries). I honestly think that we could have witnessed a third perfect game in Survivor history if he'd just kept these idols. I'm wondering whether there is more of this kind of moves in Survivor history.

​@@cecilsmith24 he can still blindside Cody at that tribal, but also keep his idol and Karla's. That means Cassidy - the biggest challenge threat - is gone at F5. Karla's not winning neither final immunity nor firemaking with her hands badly injured. So either Owen wins and puts Jesse and Karla - the two biggest threats - into firemaking, or Gabler does - and he does the same or even takes Jesse to the end. And even without flushing those idols, Jesse's pretty much a lock to win in any F3 combination.
