Hi Kim! Just wanted to hop on here and thank you for your videos + Hello Disc!!! I struggled for months with a menstrual cup, found your channel and eventually switched to Hello Disc. I just used it for the first time and it was the easiest cycle I’ve ever had! Thank you so much!!! Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭🤗

Kim Thank you so much for bringing us the Hello Disc!! It is life changing, Not only it makes the whole period so much more care free than how it used to be, it also eases my mind so much. I used to be so worried and feeling the stress when i know the period is about to arrive soon. But now I m so mentally relieved after I started using Hello Disc. It is so easy to use and never leaks on me. Definitely recommend it to those with heavy flow.

Love love love the hello disc! I don't even mind the mess on my heavy days (very heavy cycle so its not the disc, its my flow) because it's so easy to insert and remove! That tab is a game changer. I was a menstrual cup user for the past 10+ years but really only on special occasions because removing it was a process (high cervix). I haven't touched my reusable pads since I got the disc a couple of cycles ago. So nice to feel clean on my cycle, finally found my period product at 43.

This is very timely for me as I am just at the end of my first period with a disc after using a cup for the last 10 years or so. I can’t believe it took me so long to switch - the disc is so much more comfortable for me than a cup and the only drawback I found was the potential mess when emptying but even that got significantly easier after just a few times of doing it. Thanks so much for the tips, I’ll look forward to continuing to use it and hope it continues to be as life changing as it feels right now.

Hello Kim!!! Just wanted to let you how much I love your videos and appreciate all of the work you do!!! You have completely changed the way I view periods and menstrual products. I used to DESPISE having a period and always felt a sense of dread before each cycle. I hated tampons and pads because they were uncomfortable for my anatomy and often caused irritation. The amount of plastic waste was also something that really bothered me. Thankfully, I discovered your channel….. and EVERYTHING changed!!! My mind was blown and I couldn’t believe that there were so many amazing alternative menstrual products. After lots of research via your videos and quiz, I made the leap and got my first menstrual cup. It was, dare I say… a ✨ magical ✨ experience. It wasn’t perfect, but I knew that I would NEVER want to go back. The FREEDOM I felt after sleeping through the night, tossing and turning, and waking up without a horrible mess to deal with was incredible. I can trust my cup to do its job and live my life fully without hesitation. I actually look forward to having my period because it means I get to use my awesome cup again ❤

I've been a cup user for several years (specifically the Saalt cup) & just switched to the Cora disc. WAY BETTER EXPERIENCE. The cup had too much suction for me & I hated removing it. It always felt like I was going to pull out my whole uterus. I also had increased issues with leaking when I sneeze, etc. I'm sure that's somewhat normal as I age, but I know the cup doesn't help with that. I was in the market for a different brand with less suction when I landed on the disc instead. The first time I tried the cup, I had to go the urgent care clinic to have it pulled out with tongs. The only hesitation I had was getting over the fear of pulling out the disc. That was a whole process that took 15 min & had to talk myself down from a ledge, as I was envisioning a repeat urgent care tong experience. After one try, I had it down. I had no mess using Cora & I would even say that the cup is messier because of the emptying feature of the disc-- there was so much less to spill out.

I’ve been using the Saalt disc lately, and I’m very happy with its function. But this cycle, I did have a couple of “who got m*rder*d in this bathoom?” moments. I’m thinking of trying the Hello, because I think the tab will help. But really, I won’t be sad to use both. I’m glad that cup use introduced me to discs!

Former cup user and IUD haver. This is my first disc month. I sure don't miss having a wet tampon string between my legs or the feeling of a really full tampon 😂 removal is actually a piece of cake for me, having used the cup. The only struggle I have with the disc is not knowing if I have the front up high enough. I went to bed with the disc in, and woke up with it having inched it's way up in the back. It still held everything in, and is super comfortable, but I don't think I had it in high enough in the front. How do you know it's all the way up, up front? Am I the only person that has this problem?

I love love my Diva disc! It surprised me for sure because I hate that dumb little shield it has but it's so soft and folds so easily it has been my go to. I do have the hello disc and it is *much easier to remove* but insertion for me is just a little tricky because the tabs get in the way. I had the cora disc and I couldn't stand it rotating when I would wear it at night, weird because I would wear it during the day and it didn't do that, so in the morning I would have to bear down *every time* and push that sucker out in the shower.

I tried out the Diva disc for my last period and I did not experience a single leak. I'm a small person, and that disc was just perfect for me. However, despite the leakproof shield, when pulling it out using my index finger in the loop and thumb holding the disc, it still gets all over my hand due to the shield folding downwards on the way out. It's not really a problem for me as I'm comfortable with that, but man it's a little annoying 😅
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana Жыл бұрын
That sounds like the softness of the disc coming into play with your anatomy, understandably that can be annoying. If you angle up like a disc without a shield maybe that helps it come out from the back and not the front? Mess isn't the worst thing when we have easy sink access but when not it can be a real bummer. I always like to be upfront about that bc yeah... sometimes bloody hands isn't great! Hope it's working well otherwise for you!

@PeriodNirvana I'll try that. Thank you! Other than that, though, I've had an awesome experience with this disc. The disc's firmness is just enough for me. When I sneeze or cough, it doesn't pop out of place, despite having pubic bone that's not too pronounced. One disc I hope to try out in the future is the saalt disc, that is if it ever comes to Canada 😭

Hey Kim! So I’ve been using menstrual cups for about 2 years but yesterday decided to switch to menstrual discs because one of your videos came across my feed on SM.. so without really doing any research I just got the Saalt disc from target (since I use the saalt menstrual cup) just to give it a shot. My only issue is removal.. every time I go to remove the disc, I feel like I have to bear down and push just to get to the notch and then once I find it and start pulling its gets so messy. It’s only once I start pulling it down.. am I putting up too high or removing it wrong? Or is this a common issue with the saalt disc? I did order The Hello disc which I can’t wait to try! I hope it comes before my period is over so I can try it out. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana Жыл бұрын
This is a common removal issue with Saalt - and if you have a prominent pubic bone which is sounds like you probably do, there is more digging to get to the notch even if it stays centered. As long as you're not pushing HARD and red faced you can keep pushing to help get the disc past the pubic bone for easier removal. But it sounds like the Hello Disc worn in the flipped position or tucked will give you an easier time :)

So I’ve got something I’d like to hear your thoughts on. When it comes to using anything other than a pad is really painful. I went to an OB and they had to use a qtip for regular testing I believe and that was painful too. Is that just because I’m really…small? I’ve never been intimate with anyone b/c the mere thing is scary and painful. So is this just a break in the new shoes kind of thing or am I just that small? Like the 3 times I’ve tried using a tampon on my period which is usually heavy flow was just dry painful and wouldn’t even go in or would just pop back out.
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana Жыл бұрын
Did you discuss or rule out vaginismus with your provider? I am not a doctor or able to provide medical advice but I would be surprised if your OB didn't mention this as a possibility given this history. This is often treated by a pelvic floor therapist.

Sorry i have questions regarding the use of a menstrual disc and idk who to ask so if you, or any other watcher of this channel, can answer me, it would help me so much. I watched all your videos as I was looking for a cheaper and environmentally friendly alternative to tampons, so i decided to buy a menstrual disc. I took your website’s test when choosing the disc and used your tutorials when inserting it, but i have only one issue, and i don’t see anybody talking ab it so idk what to do So I bought the lumma disc size S, & i inserted it correctly, because i checked and i tucked it properly behind the pubic bone, my cervix is inside it (i checked), i touched all the borders and its in place, the problem is the round part/“cup” part thats underneath the rim/border, it doesn’t open properly in the round shape, its like folded in itself a bit. This is my third change during this period, each time i tried with my finger to get it to open more, but it’s like when i create the eight shape during insertion, the cup part folds itself towards the inside following the eight shape i fold it in, and when i have put it in, it doesn’t expand/unfolds itself properly because the walls of the vagina from underneath kinda keep that space not “deep” enough and push it in itself. The only part that unfolds & permits the blood to be contained, is the part that has the vaginal canal below so there is no vaginal wall stopping it. I thought, as the blood would pour in, the weight of the blood would help the disc take the same shape it has when its outside the vagina, and therefore permit the full capacity of it, but it didn’t and instead the blood started getting out when the capacity of the “punched-in” (sorry idk in what way to describe it) shape was finished. I think it didnt even reach 1/3 of the capacity it’s supposed to have. Even from watching the video tutorials, it seems as if the vagina walls would shape themselves around the form of the disc, instead in my case it seems as if the walls and the insertion process are shaping the disc. So… anybody has any tips? Did i make a mistake in inserting it? Do i have the wrong size/disc and maybe another size, brand or type of disc would have fit me better? Also to give further context. I am a virgin, 21 years old, first time menstrual disc user and never used a menstrual cup, usually i use tampons, medium height cervix and i don’t have a tilted cervix. My flow is considered medium or light. The diameter/circumference of the lumma disc S seems to fit me as I comfortably tucked it behind the pubic bone and behind the cervix, the rim itself adhered well to the vagina walls, after each use i had to untuck the disc from behind the pubic bone so i dont think the issue was it slipped in my vaginal canal. Also i have been working in a standing position during the use, so it cannot be possible that the spill was caused by auto-dumping happening. It is also not a small spill, i had the disc in for 10 hours (the capacity is supposed to be 12 hours) & i had put a pad for safety reasons and the pad ended up full, so that’s a lot of blood that wasn’t contained. The disc wasnt even 1/5 full due to the folds. And my flow is not heavy, I usually change a tampon/pad every 8-10 hours during my heaviest day. I’m so confused if this is normal, and for discs, capacity-wise, i have to take into consideration the anatomy and depth of the upper part of the vagina where the disc sits…. or if instead the disc is supposed to unfold into its proper form…. somebody help plsss idk anybody irl who uses a disc so i cannot ask anybody around me! & sorry for the massive TMIs and detailed descriptions

Okay newbie here. Invested in a cup that I just could never figure out, hated tampons but wanted to give the disposable flex disc a try. That stuff glided in like a dream, however I was afraid to use my finger to push it back/tuck it because I was afraid I would never find it again… like it would somehow be sucked up by my vagina. Yes I know it’s not going anywhere, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to get t finger around the rim to remove. I’m just going through reusables and throwing them away and I’d hate to waste them.any advice to get past that anxiety and tips for removal would be helpful. I think I made a mistake in ordering a cheap disc on Amazon to try today, I think I should've just gone with the hello disc😬 I'll have to try to cancel and reoder... I just spent so much money on cups that I couldn't get to work (painful suction, narrow canal). I was scared... I'm still scared to try them after my cup trauma and the money I wasted, I thought I was going to have to go to the er with those... The only reason I'm braving it is because these don't suction, and it was the suction of the cups that hurt so bad 😬

So, how does the discs catch the blood if they're at such an angle? That looked like a really steep angle and it looks like it would just push all the blood to the pubic bone and then just pour once the disc is moved slightly

Hello! I love discs but I find I have a high cervix, I got the lumma and for the most part I love it, but the string I found bothered me A LOT so I ended up cutting it off. I have gotten used to using it without the string, but if the string bothered me with the Lumma, would the hello disc be better or worse?
@PeriodNirvana
@PeriodNirvana Жыл бұрын
the Lumma string is longer than the Hello Disc tab. The Hello Disc tab is under the rim for a bit of a smoother feel there, and only makes contact with the vaginal wall in one spot for most. The feedback varies, some users can feel it and some can't but if you feel it while it's "dropped" the next best way to wear will be with it "flipped" since the loop is still lower than the rim and easy to reach, but not dangling in the vaginal canal. you have a few options to try without any permanent changes to the tab which is by design! I'd head to our listing on period.shop/products/hello-disc and read reviews. We have a lot and I know many will discuss various user experiences with wearing the tab Dropped. HTH! And FWIW, I always trimmed the Lumma stem and loved using that without it, for Hello Disc I wear it "flipped" and can't feel the tab at all. Wearing dropped is too low for me so I can't really comment on wearing that way.

I've tried the Nixit and the Saalt disc small. I got the saalt disc small because the nixit seemed too big and I leaked. Unfortunately also didn't have much success with the saalt disc small. They just don't seem to fit in the fornix properly 😕

Is it normal for you to bleed when just testing a disk? I tried my first disposable flex disc. I've had a hard time with tampons. 85% of the time it is a pain to get in. I had no issues getting it in. Getting it out though was hard, it took me like 8 tries. I had to do a hook over because my grip sucks and it was really snug behind my pubic bone. I'm just testing it atm so my period is like 2 weeks off.

I think all discs do because of the placement of them. When u push down the cup moves a bit to dump some contents out

Where does clear fluid come from, and could a cup or disk collect it so I don't have to feel uncomfortable dripping?

It's almost every day I'm not bleeding and for no reason. I'm sitting and playing sodoku and suddenly warm liquid dribbles out. I've used tampons to absorb it but this seems way better

You could be experiencing discharge. It's a natural process that comes from the vagina as it is self cleaning. It is usually nothing to worry about. But I'm not a doctor and I'd suggest getting a professionals opinion if you're worried about it.

I wonder if you could also tie a tampon string to the disc for the first few days,just to have the piece of mind,that you can get it out no matter what. I have pretty short fingers and am not the skinnyest, can barely (if at all) get a tampon up far enough (no applicatiors in my country),so I'm afraid i wouldn't be able to reach it even with the tips given. Not to mention that im very sensitive down there and my last try with tampons left me crying.

Does anyone have any tips for reinsertion? I always end up with messy hands because some of my blood lingers in the canal and reinserting ends up making a bigger mess. The blood also makes things a bit more slippery in a bad way. Thanks!

@martle8681 I think you're misunderstanding. Some blood is still in the vagina when I take out the disc, not on my hands. But when I reinsert, the leftover blood thats still on the walls comes out, lest I soak up the rest with a tampon

just a good product to have around! Using a stool for BM's is even mentioned in the 1940's book by the inventor of the modern menstrual cup, Leona Chalmers. Squatting is the optimum position :)

I have been using the diva cup for the last 2 years and I got it cause I was filling a super plus tampon every 30 mins to 45 min. And sleeping was a nightmare The diva cup gave me around 2 hours on my heavy days and I had to still run to the washroom to empty it in the morning and always got stain on my bed(only on heavy days) . I’ve now bought the nexit cause I heard it holds a lot more. We are going to find out lol 😂 I would really like to go 8 hours lol for the full sleep. I do have a public bone I can feel so your advice for that I used thank you. I’m in my first hour with it in properly, (I didn’t tuck it orginally your video showed me how :) still in the learning curve) I like that I don’t even feel it and I can pee with it in. The diva cup I had to take out to pee property.

Ok,question I like to wear fake nails and I find it difficult sometimes to remove my cup since the length of the nails doesn’t allow me to easily pinch the bottom of my cup. Do you think I’d have an easier time using a disc with fake nails on?
@jenniferd9043
@jenniferd9043 Жыл бұрын
I think so. Just because as she stated towards the end of this video you can bear down (auto dump) which can make your disc come out from behind your pubic bone, then you can just grab it for removal. Also because discs don't suction you can just pull it out without having to insert a finger to unsuction it.

This video was completely useless! None of these methods worked and the disk is still stuck behind my bone! You make it seems so easy and its not. You don't mention what happens when you cant grasp the rim. You don't mention that your THUMB cant reach your bone! And you cant revert your finger to reach inside the disk.
