[Verse 1] We've all got those things crawling under what they perceive We know sharp fangs and they chew in the tide alone [Pre-Chorus] My gut is telling me, oh, it's telling me why She'd rather see a man up than me under Rip a hole in my life, but no matter the things I do, never get over it I said goodbye from a place so far I'm under the truth Because words mean nothing to fleeting youth Rip a hole in my life when it's bringing me back to you [Chorus] I've been trying to work it out Gotta get away, get away from the sights and sounds Keep it on the ground I don't wanna be, but just carry on and smile on through it Death is true and I'll be missing you (I'll be missing you) [Verse 2] Advice is not always right So I've gone to tread my ways The path I've laid out is tied We're always meant to shine You left a lot of grief Now it's bleeding out my teeth Shot holes in every stone heart, oh The tones are on repeat, yet nothing's filling me It's on my chest and you're in this art [Pre-Chorus] My gut is telling me, oh, it's telling me why She'd rather see a man up than me under Rip a hole in my life, but no matter the things I do, never get over it I said goodbye from a place so far I'm under the truth Because words mean nothing to fleeting youth Rip a hole in my life when it's bringing me back to you [Chorus] I'll work it out Gotta get away, get away from the sights and sounds Keep it on the ground I don't wanna be, but just carry on and smile on through it Death is true and I'll be missing you Death is true and I'll be missing you I think I'll just smile through it all for you [Outro] I've been trying to work it out Gotta get away, get away from the sights and sounds Keep it on the ground I don't wanna be, but just carry on and smile on through it Death is true and I'll be missing you

horizoniki There’s a really neat video about this exact thing; he breaks down riff construction with chords as the “home base” of every transition. It’s not a unique concept, but the way he does it with more complex chord shapes is awesome. I don’t know if you’re a guitarist, but if you are, it’s worth a look. It changed my approach to riff and music construction forever.

You left a lot of grief Now it's bleeding out my teeth Shot holes in every stone heart Considering that this song's dedicated to Spencer's sister who passed away (and other tough songs like Mile Zero dedicated to Spencer's friend who killed himself) don't you think on these lines, like, Spencer's telling us about all the pain and sorrow he's been through and put it in his poetry so we can listen to Periphery songs and feel all Spencer felt? Yes that's right Periphery's just so amazing their songs can pierce 'every stone heart' through Spencer's mouth bleeding out his teeth like blood when he sings these lines are like the summary of all his art wow

I'm glad this song is getting the same love as the rest of the album. Metalheads (myself included) can be somewhat elitist, so if a track doesn't fit perfectly, it can be isolated and ripped apart. I returned to this song because just last Halloween I lost my mother to a long life of addiction battles and other things, I wish I could say it's gotten easy, but its very tricky to me rn. I've grown to be a musician myself, a percussionist and guitarist and she raised me on old school metal, Metallica, Pantera, mötley cru and so forth, and eventually when I grew up I showed her my stuff, wage war, periphery, for the likes of you and fit for a king and blah blah blah. Its hard to dk anything when anything reminds me of her, and its just been a constant mental struggle, I myself have struggled with suicidal thoughts and tendencies in the past but this song helps. I can't explain it but its like her message to me, her instructions to me in a way she'd know I'd listen. Telling me to carry on and smile through and come out on top in the end. It has been a very difficult journey and I want anyone reading this who feels down or has experienced similar situations, youre not alone, suffer with me and we all can smile on through this❤

When this song came out, I was in a relatively happy moment in my life, so I blasted this song almost everyday with no problems, even though knowing its meaning. But recently my grandma passed away and its kinda hard to listen to this masterpiece again, it just hits different now, going from enjoying and loving the song to actually relating to it. It makes me think of my grandma a lot.

@SaladDressing69
@SaladDressing69 5 жыл бұрын
So, not many realize this, the Baphomet is technically a symbol of universal harmonics; balance of masculine and feminine within a balance of lightness and darkness coming out of occult traditions and symbolism. The harmony on this album between a creational harmony and a purposeful dissonance (destructive) tone and chugg section in order to better accommodate the gamut of experience and the collectivity of wholeness, overall. This can go as deep as you like ;)
@subsume7904
@subsume7904 5 жыл бұрын
Spencer said in an interview the baphomet and misspelling of satan was intentional. The reason is because of how serious satanists take their religion and actually how ridiculous it all is, the theme is "Don't take things too seriously" and its an amazing message.
