Been listening to Periphery since 2009 and have seen them on every major tour and this is still my favorite song of theirs. I remember taking a rock ‘n’ roll history course in 2011 at Iowa State University and a guest Professor played this music video for the class- sounded incredible in that big theater. Made me tear up and I was elated that my peers were being exposed to such a great band.

I took music history at Iowa State University too! Of course, that was over 25 years ago. My two sons got me hooked on Periphery years ago. The 3 of us have seen them live 4 times. This song makes me think of my sons.

I cannot stress how emotionally hard that breakdown at 3:30 hits. It feels like all the pressure, sadness, fucking everything gets released at that point. Even though the breakdown itself isn't that special, in the context of the whole song it is one of the most aggressive thing I have ever heard in a song like this.
@JDStiix3 ай бұрын
Right there with you dude. that's what has always made this band so special to me. As technical as they are...they still know how to be musicians and songwriters first and foremost which makes those simple "less is more" moments in their songs so effective.

These walls of time release My eyes move like the drift The cries, they resonate within The fabric tears before me Break ties between the kin Reaching for a way out of this dream I waste my breath ascending Fears lead me astray The past brings them to be Whats left to carry me... But a memory The dream endures these lies Forever at the edge, left surviving alone Whats left as I wonder I've found a world where I am free Inside that which is truth The ground upon which I have grown is not the same The fears, they've fallen away Presently I've found I am not alone in a world of infinity sewn Perceive beyond the seam A soul evolves as one

A few years back, I was jamming this on the way to work. I was currently dealing with covid (before we knew what it was), bell's palsy, and an ear infection all at the same time. But I worked for UPS and it was peak season, so calling off wasn't an option. I lost my voice singing the part at 3:08 and suspected it was because I was so sick. This morning, I finally came to the realization that I severely damaged my vocal chords that day. My falsetto is completely unusable, and my 3-4 octave range is now closer to 2. If there was a moment in ANY song that would be worth blowing out vocal chords, its right at 3:08.

Please update the lyrics on the description, lol. Half the story isn't told to inspire the hope I've come to know and cherish. Like many of those out there, still holding out on hope that their story still has another ending. Not yet written. In the ruble, they percieve as a grave, instead of a foundation to build a whole new world, on which they can contruct. A new beginning for themselves.

@TheCameraM4n lol thats no reason to get mad at anyone :D The basic idea behind the song is that the guy wandering around in this video is able to outlive anyone he gets to know and love (e.g. his wife whose headstone is there). That's why he wanders through time and space always afraid of losing the people he knows. At the end he found a place where he is alone and does not have to fear losing anyone anymore.(4:08) Btw. the lyrics explain his fears before the solo and his relief after the solo
