MAKE TOTAL DESTROY // LYRICS
Welcome to the truth; a life that's not your own.
Controlled by labor, printed paper and the corruptors of the world.
Synthetic lies collect our minds to the beast.
We've had the rug pulled from under our feet.
Media terrorists thrive on deceit,
spoonfeeding bullshit served by elite societies harnessing fear as a weapon.
The time has come for all to see,
the man behind the curtain cast into disease. (into disease)
Take back the light.
It's a dangerous place we're headed for if we accept defeat.
Now we know it's a show they've been running from below.
Burn it down until the ground beneath the faulty entity is glistening
under the wings of a golden era.
Listening to the hate they've created inside us, we grow.
As we reduce their religion to bones.
Yes, we reduce them all to bones.
The time has come for all to see,
the man behind the curtain writhe in self defeat. (defeat)
When will the world seek truth within?
The eye in silence grants the knowledge to begin. (to begin)
Reverse what's lost awake the song within you.
Rejoice aloud. Let these words imbue.
Reverse what's lost awake the song within you.
Rejoice aloud. Let these words imbue.
Shape the future.
Sifting power back in the hands of the common man.
Give them hell for existence.
Pouring blood on the path they've set in stone,
as we reclaim our position to the throne.
Yes, we reduce them all to bones!

I don't understand how people can hate on Spencer Sotelo's voice, he did all of his vocal tracks without using any autocorrection and hit every note perfectly on his own. Not too many vocalists have done, or even can do that.

This is why I love them. Even during the most chuggy parts of their song, they add in guitar melodies (courtesy of Jake) and make those sections all the more rewarding, instead of your usual riffs which get dull after a few seconds of the same thing repeating.

I fucking love this song, and its sad that people can't enjoy it as much simply because it has clean vocals. I find a lot of value in music with all screaming vocals and music with all clean vocals and can't understand why people struggle to separate and find an aesthetic with both vocal styles.

close minded people just can't understand that metal has grown so much in the past 20-30 years. For better or for worse (music is subjective) is up to the listener, but for people to not accept that metal is different than what it was, it's your loss.
@Poser_Metal_Records

Roberto Lisboa As I Lay Dying and Blessthefall are two of the biggest bands out there and they're metalcore so it's not a fake sub genre. Metal is metal. Music is music. Like or don't. Don't be a bitch about something you don't like when there's obviously people who do like it.
@LurchyScott
@LurchyScott 9 жыл бұрын
I don't consider music to be subjective 100%. It is subjective when it comes to whether you like the style or not but objective when it comes to appreciating, understanding and even admiring the skill and talent the musicians have and the utmost passion that pours out of them into their music. I hate most metal listeners because of the fact most paint themselves into an elitist corner and will shit on anything that isn't to their liking. They won't even acknowledge the talent for the most part. I can't stand it when someone says: This is shitty. What is wrong with: "Meh not my style of metal but kudos to anyone who likes it. The musicianship is brilliant though" I am friends with a 52 year old guy (someone I work with) who has been playing drums, bass and guitar for nearly 40 years and he is always asking me if I've discovered any new bands for him to check out. Why? Because he might not like the vocal style or even the style of music but he 100% enjoys listening to the musicianship. He loves Periphery. A 52 year old man. He thinks Matt Halpern is one of the best drummers he's ever listened to.

Yeah, the whole band is phenomenal. Definitely setting news bars on every front. On the past couple albums they have written around Spencer more, and he has become one of my favorite vocalists. I know a lot of people are disappointed about that because it means less instrumental craziness, but I think it was the right move, and every interview I hear with Misha, he is much happier with where they are at now as song writers.

"The eye in silence grants the knowledge to begin" Seriously guys, take psychedelics and open your third eye. Fuck the system, fuck pollution and mass consumerism, we're destroying the earth because we're so ignorant and just live our day to day lives while we pollute and consume like it has no consequences. It's time for change and psychedelics will help you understand how and why. Don't ignore the message behind this song, take it to heart and let's do this shit already.
@DimeWyldeSynTremonti

No one is destroying the earth. Pollution is bad but it's not destroying the earth. Climate change is a false pretext behind which the real puppet masters plan to institute worldwide totalitarian socialism. Do yourself a favor and type Agenda 21 into the KZbin search bar and see for yourself. Furthermore, if people want to buy shit, who are you to condemn it? You're not better than everyone else. You're on KZbin, with a computer or smartphone I assume; therefore you are an active participant in in capitalism and "consumerism", and therefore a hypocrite.

@bestieswithtesties
@bestieswithtesties 10 жыл бұрын
DimeWyldeSynTremonti "if people want to buy shit, who are you to condemn it? " Heres a reality check for you. Earth's resources are not infinite. It's one thing to constantly destroy the planet and get rid of *entire ecosystems* with mining and deforestation and many other forms of resource gathering, but when you have an ever expanding population that just wants more and more, you've got a huge problem .Google this because it explains it perfectly "The 21st century has presented humanity with an ominous reality. By 2050, we may face widespread insufficiency of food, fiber, and bioenergy to meet our needs. A rapidly growing global population, accelerating consumption, dietary shifts, climate change and other factors are driving unprecedented price volatility, resource shortages, and other risks in soft commodity supply chains." Western society's way of mass consumerism and capitalism are simply unsustainable and toxic to the planet, our society is *wrong*. But you know why we don't care? They've manufactured our culture over the past 100 years to make us nothing but apathetic consumers. They rake in massive profits, we only care about our daily lives. They have insane amounts of money (therefore power) and their only goal is to keep it that way. If we change society to a point that we all live as equals and contribute simply for the better of mankind, the world would be a human paradise. (All ideas arisen from taking psychedelics, which is why the lyrics say "The eye in silence grants the knowledge to begin) But instead we only care about ourselves and put all wealth/money (power) into the handful of individuals who's only goal is to make more money and have more power. Open your eyes, learn the facts before you try and argue. Edit: And even though it is *completely* irrelevant, I've owned the same piece of shit phone and computer for 5+ years now ever since I became informed, So calling me a hypocrite is pretty inaccurate. As soon as I actually did research and became informed, I've done everything I can to break away from the "system:" they've put in place.

This music video was my first impression of Periphery. I fell in love with the mystery, the heaviness, the technical ability, the expressions and emotions of each of the members, the animation, the melody, Nolly! Thank you for this particular video that got me into the world of this genre.

This music video was beautifully directed & edited! Honestly, some of the slow motion and moving shots of the band are insane. I give props to everyone who helped make this music video. I love the band too but that's my own opinion. If you look in the comments you just see people complaining and arguing. Anyways good job!

This is honestly one of my favorite songs right now. It really feels metal, with everything places precisely and on purpose. It doesn't have a lot of the useless noise associated with most of metal.

Probably because they’re focused on their new material. That’s what sucks about bands putting out new stuff, they run out of time to play the originals that everyone loves. I believe they played this song the one time I saw them but this was also their newest album at the time. Also, I’ve seen TAS twice. The first time was so great I could’ve made the set list myself and it practically would’ve been the same. The second time, I knew so few songs I could barely even manage to headband in sync

shadowsangheili Protest The Hero is by far and a way my favourite band, and I find Periphery boring as shit They don't sound similar at all. Periphery have a more djent-esque style while protest are more progressive, and have a cubic fuckload more arpeggiation. The most similar band to Periphery I know of is Affiance.

What's crazy is when I was little (early primary school) I would always use the word "djent" to describe a heavy power chord in Alternative/Nu Metal (because I grew up in a metal family) but I never thought it was gonna turn out like this, but it don't support it as a genre, just as a guitar tone.

I heard Periphery for the first time around two years back and absolutely fell in love. I remember seeing comments here like "The clean vocals ruin it for me". I also remember thinking that I'm not quite 'metal' because I still enjoy clean vocals and I thought that's okay. Before this there was a phase where I wanted to be a 'true' metalhead. After some time I realized I'd rather enjoy what I want to then try to understand what 'true' metalheads are like. And now, after having listened to an amazing amount of metal as well as so many other genres, I totally get it. Those clean vocals take your attention away from the music. That's fine for someone who listens for clean vocals but not so much for those who want to listen to the music. It's not about taste or anything like that, it's just a different perspective. I actually turned into what I originally wanted once I stopped trying to be it. Might seem like a small thing but it's funny how much things change and funny how things work out. Moral though: Just listen to whatever the fuck you want to. Music is such an amazingly subjective experience and there's no one person who has superior taste nor inferior. It's just all different. And don't ever listen to people who tell you different. Even if you like to that "crunk" stuff.

+Shawn “Kenneth” Fernandes yeah man. you reach true metal headedness when you realize that music is just that, and if you waste time thinking about what kinda music is metal or whatever you're wasting time where you could be listening to tasty jams. I consider myself a metalhead, and all of my friends do too, but metal is only the tip of the iceberg. I listen to so much different shit it's not even funny.
@OlegAryutkin

I dont understand why ppl think clean vocals are not metal. hell, none of the biggest metal bands use growling/screaming... I never saw a band based on growling sell out a stadium like big boy metal bands do. Growling is a thing only in extreme metal :)
@morbid333
@morbid333 6 жыл бұрын
Oleg Aryutkin All that proves is that clean vocals are more accessible and have more mass market appeal. Selling out arenas doesn't have anything to do with being any more or any less "metal."

First time I listen to the band, great instrumental and stuff, and yeah, I don't like these clean vocals, not because they're clean but they are too melodic, but that's just me...I like the clean vocals on Power Metal bands such as Helloween, Angra, Stratovarius, or Heavy like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest they're also melodic, but these modern bands like Periphery are TOO melodic for my taste, like they're crying for momma or something..hahaha
