He probably meant Chester, not Linkin Park. Chester literally influenced 90% of metalcore singers everyone was and is replicating what he did in early LP years. Metalcore evolved into prog metalcore and vocal style stayed the same.

What a ridiculous statement. I can't think of any Metalcore bands that sound like Chester. There was nothing special about the dude.
@luisdinis69507 жыл бұрын
i can agree with you when you say it's off about connecting LP's influence towards metalcore in general, but to say "There was nothing special about the dude." it's so wrong lol chester had above vocal range and an unique timbre. if it pleases you or not that's different, but special? yea he was

A while back I listened to King Mothership for the first time and from there I got to know Spencer and his work (also with Periphery) more and more. During that time I once tweeted that he would be my favourite pick if anybody would ever be joining LP as a singer if all the stars alligned. I think there are some great similarities to Chesters voice but I think Spencer could also bring a lot of new stuff into the band that I would personally love and respect the hell out of. And only now I stumble across this great take on this song for the first time… what a great gift! Thanks Periphery (from a life time Linkin Park fan)!!

Linkin Park and Periphery are both in my top 3 bands. while Periphery has definitely influenced my playing more, Linkin Park has no doubt had the biggest impact on my life that music ever will. They gave me a haven to know that the shadows we live in are not solely ours, They got me into music in general and they've always connected with me on a personal level. From hybrid Theory to the Hunting Party I loved it all. Chester Bennington always had a voice for his feelings and through his expression I found solace in my downfalls and motivation in the hurt that I've faced. I will always love Linkin Park for that. Not the riffs, not the screams. The expression. Because that is what music, poetry and any form of art is all about. I'm just sorry that expression wasn't enough to relieve you Chester. Rest In Peace. You've impacted the world in a way we can never repay for.

Yeah, great. Instrumentalize this tragedy for your own means by disguising it as good-will and charity. Do the cover, if you appreciate Linkin Parks/Chester Benningtons legacy and give to charity whatever you get from it, but don't advertise your band through it. Good is the hero, who does not have to be known. Otherwise it's for all the wrong causes.

One of the most inventive LP covers I've heard in a while. I love the semi-inspired 80s synths, reminds me of Busted's Night Driver (you guys should check it out if you haven't). At the risk of sounding a bit melodramatic, I remember feeling super upset once on a family trip when I was really young. I put some headphones on in my tent and played my Linkin Park CD, and I remember it feeling like I had just taken a shot of ecstasy. I know music can be like medicine to people, can be therapeutic (I can advocate for it), but it's always been a salient memory of mine that it was Linkin Park specifically, in that moment, that totally buoyed my spirits. RIP Chester.

Imo, if they decide to find someone to front LP, Spencer would be the best choice. The screams, the range (he can go much higher but that'd mean itd be easier live), the ability to do pop, rock, and metal vocals.
