“The Red Report with Herbert A. Philbrick” is a 1960s-era (probably 1962-63) American anti-Communist propaganda film. The 20 minute black and white film, according to its host, seeks to expose the tactics used by “the Reds” to attract Americans - specifically American youths - to Communism. The film is presented by Herbert A. Philbrick, a Boston area advertising executive who was paid by the FBI to infiltrate the Communist Party USA between 1940 and 1949. His involvement began when he joined a Communist front group in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Cambridge Youth Council. His story was dramatized in the Ziv Television Programs series "I Led Three Lives."

The only reason "I Led Three Lives" became a TV series was because Frederic Ziv couldn't secure the rights to produce a TV version of "I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI" {Matt Cvetic wouldn't agree to his terms} - so he found a similiar book and adapted that for television instead.

Socialism or its father communism relies on gov`t determining what goods should be produced regardless of demand. Ayn Rand got it right: "People trading value for value in volitional consent". People act in their own self-interest, aka the virtue of selfishness. That is why collectivism/socialism/communism cannot work as it fails to harness the power of this logical self-interest. The market knows best what people want. Read Hayek/Friedman. Government has no skin in the game, so indifference abounds. The enthusiastic pursuit of profit in the free market (return on risk) ensures efficient production for goods actually wanted. See “The Invisible Hand”. Socialism has failed everywhere and every time. Capitalism has taken the world out of poverty.

What you’re trying to dismiss as fokelore came to fruition -almost to a T- within the next 40 years so it’s much closer to prophecy. A quick glance at the degeneracy of the West that has exploded after the fall of the USSR perfectly exemplifies what happens when you take your eyes off the enemy and allow them to infiltrate your society. Over 60% of the people McCarthy accused of having strong ties to communist parties were found to be guilty of such right off the bat, and another ~20% ended up in the same boat before the close of the century… I’d say being right 80% of the time makes you a good investigator.

The US has a quite socialistic government (and 'news' media), considering that it is nominally a capitalist country. A basis of socialism is 'divide and conquer', and if you pay attention to any world news, the US is one of the most politically divided countries in existence. That only leads to the great happiness of a very small number of people. There are a lot of distortions in US capitalism (crony capitalism being one of the most obvious), but I believe the unhappiness stems mostly from ideological prodding by politicians and news media.

There are more youth today that want communism and even call themselves "maoists" and admire Mao Zedong, then ever before in U.S. history. Universities are literally teaching marxism and encouraging anti-capitalism nowadays. Many youth today are very far-left and want to abolish private property, entrepreneurship, are pro-censorship (so long as it's not their views that are censored) and are anti-american, and call anyone who likes America and wants it to improve, a "fascist" this is certainly an issue.
