Final collapse of the Perito Moreno ice bridge (rupture 2016).

FINALLY I see a video of the collapse of the last part of the ice arch! All the others I've watched till now have either ended before it fell, or missed it. This is a process that happens every few years, so there are multiple videos on KZbin, shot from different places.

Fun Fact: The ice bridge collapsed not because of melting, but under the tremendous pressure of the glacier advancing. Perito Moreno is one of the world's only glaciers that is currently expanding in size at the same rate (at least) as it's receding.

Mejor pónganse a leer y a estudiar.

Once this starts, if they wait long enough they may catch it all. The water keeps eroding, pieces keep falling, and although losing some weight may help to delay the collapse, it doesn't matter because that glacier is still moving and crushing whatever is left, which gets thinner and thinner and easier to crack. The outcome is inevitable. I'm glad that they filmed it all, in many other videos people only film parts of the glacier falling, but not the full arch collapse.

@@FriendlyCroock Climate change is like the neverending circle of life. The global temperature rises a bit, then it gets colder, then warmer and then colder again. Nothing to worry about: our planet behaves in miraculous ways. People, even lots of them, have only a tiny influence. Besides, not one single scientist knows how all these processes work. That's why it's so incredibly stupid to want to change single elements of these processes. The fear-mongering politicians just want to look good, that's why they make up all kinds of problems. So they can come up with the solutions. It's really quite pathetic.

@@GranadaFelish I've been to the lake multiple times and actually missed a collapse by a single day. I don't speak Spanish, so I'm fairly clueless but I think that I'm right in saying that once the ice reaches the far side the lake level starts to build up behind it. It certainly looks like this is the case because there's a very definite 'bath line' around the lake. Obviously the water pressure doesn't break the bridge, but I assume it eventually forces it's way under it. I'd love to know if I'm right here.

Why? So you can use it to CON people into believing your drivel about global warming? If that's your intention then you would be a liar. This happens EVERY SPRING at the same part of the same glacier! Every winter the glacier freezes over and advances, and every spring it melts again and folk gather to watch and film it happening. So you would be lying to portray this event as being anything other than NORMAL! Global warming may or may not be a fact - but DELIBERATELY LYING ABOUT IT TO PROVE YOUR OWN P.O.V. IS OFFENSIVE, AND IN THE ACADEMIC WORLD YOU WOULD BE ROASTED FOR USING THIS FOOTAGE OR ANY PART OF IT TO SUPPORT ANY CLAIMS THAT IT IS A FACT.
