Thanks for making this video (and all the others too). My wife was diagnosed with CDK stage 5 not long ago, and had to decide whether to do 'hemo' or 'peritoneal'. We first opted for 'hemo' not being totally informed. But then we learned what it really meant to go this way, and decided to do the peritoneal treatment a week before the AV fistula surgery was scheduled. We are waiting now for a new schedule for my wife to have the peritoneal catheter surgery done. Your videos are a blessing for us to get informed and prepared for what we are up to with this treatment. We live in Europe under slightly different circumstances but the procedures and how it effects our daily life are identical of course. Thank you so much for doing these videos.

I wish you and your wife good luck. I just got the surgery for the PD catheter yesterday. Everything went very well. I wouldn't be able to deal with hemo do to having to have a large needle inserted every time, plus there are more restrictions. My kidney doctor's office contacted me the same day, a few hours after the surgery, and told me I would need to get labs and an X-Ray of my chest and pelvis areas before I go to the dialysis center to get trained and start home dialysis.

I chose peritoneal home dialysis, now I'm getting used to nightly dialysis, at 5am I'm unhooked and getting ready for work, I'm so happy for my daylight freedom, Good luck to your wife and all who are having a hard time choosing which.

First Let me say AWESOME video and a big thank you for the courage to face the daily challenges with PD. My wife's father lives with my wife and I, and I'm the primary care giver of his PD. He has been with Fresinious for the last 3 years. So we got news today (11/23) that will be changing to the BAXTER system. So I am trying to get a heads up on what may be different from what he uses now.

Delivery went great. Nice guy from NYC filling in for Buffalo drivers. 50boxes. Five trips to the upstairs with motorized dolly. Took 20minutes.

My husband had his surgery last week to have his catheter put in. Seems like there are so many steps that need to be done before he can finally start dialysis. I’m trying to figure out where we are going to store everything. We rent a small home, so I would love suggestions. Thank you for your videos!❤

Could you do a deep dive into the cost of peritoneal dialysis? Insurance. Obama care. Medicaid. I can handle the mechanics of the actual dialysis. It's paying for it and actually having money for clothes and food that I'm concerned about.

I have been watching ypur videos and finding them very informative and helpful. I haven't commented on any yet, I don't think, but when uou were showing all of your supplies, I was thinking "Holy Cow" that's a lot of stuff! How do you leep all that straight? Red boxes, green boxes, yellow boxes! Cassettes, etc, etc. How long did the training take to be able to do your dialysis at home rather than the HD? I just learned that I am stage 3 kd. But I don't know where in that stage 3 I am yet. Only just had my first appt. with the kidney doctor (can't remember what they're called and probably couldn't spell it anyway) so, I guess all this is in the future for me and I'll eventually have to make the decision of which method to go with; or, at least, I hope I'll have a choice! 2nd question: Can you tell me why some people don't have a choice which method to use?

It seems like a lot at first, but it soon becomes part of your normal routine. The training was under two weeks. I first learned how to do manual PD and then learned how to use the cycler. The nurse that trained my husband and I was very patient and helpful. There are two reasons I can think of why people can't do PD. One is they don't have the mental capacity and there isn't a family member who can do it for them. The other reason is if your peritoneal membrane is unable to withstand holding the dialysis fluid. Can I ask, do you and your husband still sleep in the same bed together, this is my dilemma, and could you do a video of what you can't do while on peritoneal dialysis like certain household chores, working outside, how much you can lift etc. And maybe your husbands point of view . I’ve seen videos where people do sleep with their spouse. Just make sure you’re done connecting and it should be fine.
