Stay safe. My son was an iron-worker (I say was because he is now an engineer for the railroad). One day he was working about 40' up, there was another floor, so 20' each. He put on the harness like he did every day and his safety guy checked it. BUT he didn't follow it all the way back to where it was anchored. My son had to lean out (his back was to the outside) to fix a bolt on the steel beam and the harness was not hooked to anything. His reaction was to grab a rope that was in front of him. He had his leather gloves on. Friction finally stopped him and he was swinging in and out. The rope swung in and he took the floor below him to his pelvis area. He was able to scoot on to this floor. The whole thing took seconds but felt like hours (he said). Anyhow, he was lucky. he did hurt his back but nothing was broken. SO double check that harness every time, this is a mom talking here! Measure twice and cut once may only result in a wasted board. This could have cost him his life from that distance. Love watching you guys. Carry on.

Be careful with those RFL’s (retractable fall limiter)!! If your harness connection point gets even a few inches above the anchor point, you dramatically increase the forces on your gear and your body if you fall. I have extensive experience in the climbing and challenge course (ropes courses, zip lines, etc) field, someplace where falls are a common occurrence. We typically use RFL’s a little differently but please please please don’t get any higher than your anchor with those things. Routine inspections and referring to the manufacturers guide lines on lifespan is also critical to the success of those devices.

I worked for a composite decking company and I’ve seen this before 🤓 most composite clips allow the boards some movement for expansion, which means that the boards won’t give much lateral grip. With your noggins so small compared to your joists means the joists can twist and move along the decking clips - if the noggins were wider then they retain more rigidity in the decking system. You have to rely on the noggins and not the decking planks like with a wooden deck to keep that system up and flat.

When you're looking at paint or stain samples you should always do it under natural light, either outdoors or next to a big window, because cheap artificial lighting can distort your perception of color.

An easier way to measure how many boards you need is to measure your distance from the house out when your boards are running parallel to the house wall and then divide that total number of inches by 5 and then multiply that by the width. That's how many linear feet you need

The multiplier for a deck board [or roof board in this case] with a 5" exposure is 2.4 [which is 12/5], so for every sq ft of coverage, you need 2.4 linear ft of board. So for your "roughly" 500 square foot roof, you need 1200 linear feet of t&g, plus waste etc.
