PERKS IN THE GAME - Battlefield 1 (Specializations are back!)

Just to clarify as my wording has confused some people I think: As far as I know, these perks are planned to be released with the Name of the Tsar DLC to EVERYONE. Not just premium players. There's no pay wall BS here with the specializations thankfully!

I think they botched this game from day one. Not enough content on release. Too long for the new content to come out. And when it did come out, it was already over, too many people became casual and couldn't get back into it.. They were just greedy. No matter what they do I'm not coming back. Like your content man. Bf5 is coming out soon anyway.

A lot of people did not like the perks from BF4. I've seen on the battlefield_live subreddit many people have expressed their disliking of perks that grant extra health and damage reduction like the defensive perk from BF4. Thankfully, DICE have said that their are no damage reduction perks to health, but their are for explosives, which is kind of good, considering that BF1 has the most effective grenades.

Shooting at someone running may actually make them speed. up. what the fuck is that? i mean learning to actually track your enemy just got a sever nerf. How annoying isnt that, you start engaging an enemy, and all of a sudden he just got superpowers because bullets are flying through the air and starts running like hell. he doesn't even have to do anything, the game will just automatically make him harder to hit. just read through them and think about the repercussions. You can't trust spot flares anymore, if you do, someone might actually kill you simply by choosing a fucking perk. its so silly. There is no way of knowing it either, its not like the class weapons, which clearly dictate a certain play style, and give both of you an idea of what the best engagement tactic is. it just throws that all away, and forces you to roll the dice or try to predict their perks in every single encounter. Seriously, why did this perk three have to become an important part of the game? wasn't it better when the gameplay was the decisive factor? i mean, its not an rpg ffs! if i wanted a skill tree id fucking play wow or some other silly game in stead.

Yep really like this idea, especially adding needed depth to the progression system. I do hope though that that you can choose different perk set ups per load out. So depending on the map or how u wanna play that specific class for that round or equally if u feel you need to switch during round to help the team then I think that would be awesome. I like this idea of the perk system, people might not think it will do much, but I can see this changing up things quite a bit. Playing Assault will be nice now, 30% reduction in damage from explosions will help when taking down a train or tank. Medic class getting the sprint buff after revive means Medics can reach a downed player faster so they don't have to sit and wait for too long. With all the class specific perks mentioned, I like the Assault class ones the best, Assault class can be a very powerful class against both Vehicles and Infantry. I am glad DICE is trying out new things! Thanks for still covering BF1 stuff Jack, many people don't like the game, but recently I have been loving it a lot! I am excited for In The Name of The Czar DLC, looks to be one that will bring BF1 back on its feet a little bit.

I think these perks will just make the game unbalanced. Some of these perks are straight worthless and some are way overpowered. I honestly think that the perks should be way more subtle but you should be able to take a bunch of perks. That way it's more strategy yet all the perks are doing all the work for you.

The smoke one with the medic and the decoy one with the scout are definitely the two I would want to rework. For the medic one, I'd say that instead of enemies downed near you dropping smoke on their position, the medic should have to spot them then the medic would automatically throw the smoke grenade towards the player they spotted. This way it isn't like an unconscious guy is somehow dropping a smoke grenade and it doesn't surprise the medic by randomly popping smoke. For the scout one, the better thing to do would be an automatic minimap and 3-D spot on the enemy that shot them down below 30% health that lasts for like 5 seconds. This way, you don't have a completely obvious decoy just appear randomly but it functions very much the same, as well as encouraging scout to make sure their shots are kills rather than wounds so they don't get spotted, discouraging sniper spam.

I wish they would have a 'deep pockets' general perk, one that would allow a player to carry extra ammunition for their primary weapon depending on their loadout. Something like 2 extra mags for assault, 2 or 3 extra mags/clips for Medics, maybe a spare belt/drum for Support and around 2-4 extra clips for Scouts.

Role specific perks would be cool. For example..tank commander or pilot, that increase your effectiveness when you are in a vehicle. Counter sniper could have a shielded scope to prevent the glare...there could be so many other things but it's just an idea..

Yeah because soldiers in WW1 had specialized perks! In my opinion I wish DICE focused more on the war aspect instead of the competitive gameplay like in the campaign.

Support should have an extra class specific perk, as it does not have the ability to use the bayonet perk. This worries me that Dice forgot about it.

I feel the perk system isn't something they planned on always having in the game but had to save for later. I think it's more a fairly creative counter-measure to all the problems currently in the game: -Grenade spam? Flak perk -Flares on all objectives? Camouflage -Snipers constantly pinning other snipers and support? Decoy and lowered suppression -Going for revives too suicidal? Speed boost on res In fact hardly any of these perks don't coincide with a common complaint about Battlefield One.

Consoles get treated that way because of the cost of releasing console patches due to Sony/Microsoft making games pay far too much per update they launch, hence them wanting to wait till they have a good balance or have polished out any possible bugs before releasing the patch to console. Blame Microsoft/Sony for being greedy, not the devs.

depending on how fast the quick regen is, i think it should be only for medic. by giving it to assualt it removes the fact that they have to play smart
