Here's the correct information, which does qualify the Limited trim for the $5,000 Ontario EV Rebate:
To be eligible for the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles program, you have to purchase or lease:
a vehicle with six seats or fewer, where the base model (trim) Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is less than $45,000;
higher priced versions (trims) of these vehicles, up to a maximum Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $55,000, will also be eligible for purchase incentives

I just did a 600Km trip with one of this new Souls and I was well impressed. The ride was very relaxing and loved the tech. The car can basically drive itself. The cruise control mode not only keeps your speed but also detect the cars in front and slows down if needed to keep a safe distance. Together with the lain assist that turns the wheel by it self, left me little to do. Basically what I had to do was to signal and change lanes. As for the one pedal driving, it didn’t work well for me. I love the paddles behind the wheel to control the regeneration level but the car wouldn’t come to a stand still if the accelerator paddle was released. Even on level 3 it keeps on going, you need to press the break to come to a full stop. The harman kardon sound system is great and together with apple CarPlay was a plus. Not sure if would switch this car with my bmw i3 unless I needed to do more of this trips, in that case it would be a no brainer.

The Soul EV does come to a complete stop if you hold down the left regen paddle. At least it does on the 2021 model. Full stop.

Actually the 5k federal rebate applies to both models -- I got it on mine last June. The 45K max price applies to the "entry level" price of a given model -- higher trim levels of the same model still qualify even if they exceed the 45k price point.

Great review. I have driven the last Gen and quite enjoyable to drive. Deal breaker in the current climate.. Gas is cheap and challenged to find charging stations. Otherwise great vehicle.

I would love to own this model but just now must make do with my Kia Soul EV 2018 model. Its no hardship its still a lovely car just a lot less range (30kwh).

Is this a metallic black exterior color paint or just available as simple unicolor black paint? I'm asking this due to the fact that metallic paint s more scratch resistant and more robust against external harm and shows less wear & tear. So in case of black metallic paint, washing swirls resulting - even from carefully handwashing the car with 2 bucket washing method - would be less visible over the years/lifecycle of the vehicle.

Spare tire? Please tell me the top trim comes with it. I can't imagine Kia charging over $50,000 for a vehicle without one. I got charged an environmental fee by my Kia dealer for a spare tire, only to find out my current car doesn't have one!

That's horribly annoying about the dealership charging you. With that said though, spare tires are kinda useless, just about any puncture can be permanently repaired in 20 minutes by yourself. Just have a bag with a tire plug kit, tire patch kit, and infiltrator and you're pretty much set to fix 90% of tire punctures. In the rare case that you get a sidewall puncture you can put a temporary plug or patch over it, but only to get yourself back home (don't continue to drive on a patched/plugged sidewall, it's not safe in the longterm) The whole idea of carrying around a tire, a jack, and a tire iron just on the off chance that you *might* get a puncture, it's all pretty silly. You can repair a tire almost as quickly as you can change it for a spare. Just forgo the spare tire, carry a repair kit and inflator, and just have all that extra trunk deep trunk space.

Driving Force Great question. Kia tuned it differently for consumers who want more power. Some drivers want and need that extra boost depending on what their hauling, whether it’s people, towing, etc. And in some cases, consumers simply want the more powerful engine.

@@Modern.Motoring I guess I just don't understand how that is even possible. I know torque and horsepower are not the same thing (horsepower is a unit of work?) but I just don't understand how an electric motor can have the same torque rating but different horsepower

Try using the voice search function on the Soul EV. It is terrible and frustrates me to no end. Apple Car Play and Apple Maps work great though.
