Perl Tutorial - 50: Private Variables

Please check the output for this code, i dont think "my" is creating variable in private specifier.

What happens if I don't use 'my'? Would the output still be 50 and 500? Or 500 and 500?

In that case, both the subroutine call will change the value of $var to 50
