I love how you combine Permaculture and the Back to Eden methods, My husband and I will be buying several acres within the year and I want to emulate what you are doing, I find sharp rows and squares become offensive to my very creative nature. I do plan on adding some whimsy in my garden. Thanks for sharing your passion!

Thank you for this good content. I'm a NEW SUBBIE to your channel and only found it by researching permaculture. I'm already set to move forward with permaculture because I prefer sustainable farming and frugal living. However, after watching your video, it made me think what is the difference of polyculture to permaculture? It seems they're both sustainable but which one is better in living with a small garden in the city or farm subdivision in the tropics (Philippines)? I'm also planning to have vertical gardening/farming that will serve as a windbreaker/living canvas among other things. Back story, I'm living in Canada at the moment but saving money to retire in the Philippines. In general, retirement or not my bigger picture is to address food poverty and living sustainably either from advocation or promotion. I thought gardening is not my strength but it helps me to fight my depression and gen. anxiety, plus this is my step to decrease my carbon footprint the way I can without being a vegan or vegetarian. I'm learning and researching the best ways to acheive my goals, please help.

That is a unique way of putting the third ethic, mostly we say "Fair Share", as in only take what you need and share your surplus. I suppose it could include population, but I think it is broader than that :)

@jamesprigioni
@jamesprigioni 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are! If they burn just the leaves you can take the ash and add it to your compost pile, ash is like pure condensed minerals. Be careful adding it directly to the garden though because it is too concentrated and will Cause an imbalance 😁

This is a great format James especially to do now in the winter enjoy getting back outside with you though I was a little disturbed by one of the three principles of permaculture it looks like its population control are we talking about some of these crazy ideas of human population control I'm not sure it just is unsettling to me please enlighten me thanks
@jamesprigioni
@jamesprigioni 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve. Yeah it will a lot nicer filming inside where it’s warm 😂 Yeah, I’m not a big fan of that ethic. I think it’s misunderstood. The idea is really about focusing on creating a better environment for future generations, and not just take take take. Recently the community has changed the third ethic to “fair sharing”, but I wanted to present the information in the way that Bill did. His original writing was these three ethics. It’s not like population control let’s kill people. It’s like, let’s take a step back and see how many people can we sustainably have living in a area. Example would be setting a population max on a city so that it doesn’t become a huge consumer, but he wants everything to provide its own needs.
@buzz6989
@buzz6989 2 жыл бұрын
The ideas behind permaculture were not bill mollisons, which he even states. The ideas were practiced by the indigenous Australians, the aboriginals. Bill mollisons collected the ideas while writing extensive genealogies of indigenous Australians. Bill created the term permaculture and brought it into modern day design.

I would only use it if you ate a clean diet with no antibiotics and stuff. But I wouldn’t just add it in the garden I would add it to a compost pile and allow it to break down before I used it. I don’t add anything super concentrated to the garden, that forms an imbalance.
@delphzouzou4520
@delphzouzou4520 6 жыл бұрын
You can use it diluted at 1/5 or 1/10, for instance, with water in the garden, there is no problem, also it's recommended to stop 3-4 weeks before harvest. I've even seen a video of a guy peeing directly on a row of weak (compared to the other rows he had) carrots several times and the carrots were great after a few weeks, as tall as the other rows.
