Thank you so much for this guide! I did the triple thick with decoart acrylic paints and it turned out amazing! I even went back to some previous props and splashed some of the mix on em.

Fantastic video! No, you were not the only one who didn't know food coloring was made from a derivative of crude oil lol. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you showing how you made the blood mix as I know I'll be needing to touch up some of my props. Thank you!

What a very nice methodical process here, I appreciate the fact that you took the time to show the different levels of materials and colors to achieve the permanent blood look. I really like this video a lot! I've been doing special effects for almost 20 years, but I actually enjoyed this video. I even subscribed to your channel as well. Super cool! Well keep teaching good things and I'll keep watching for your new material videos.❤

Really enjoyed the video. Found some good dark red paint I used for blood, and used it in my mask last year for the haunt I work for, but was looking for something darker, yet redder, dry, but not dull, shiny, yet not wet. FRESH, basically. If I have some time to experiment this year, I'll be heavily using this video for reference.

I was experimenting with food coloring and clear Elmer's school glue for some blood on prop knives. I noticed that the mixes I used a drop of blue or green with dried with that greenish/oil slick on them, but the one with just glue and red did not. I covered it all with a coat of red/glue only and it kept the darker color but seemed to have hidden the green/oil reflection. Maybe the blue/green food coloring has more of the oil ingredient. Just red looked pretty good with a few coats, more coats in spots did give darker reds

You might kill off some of that magenta / pinky hue by using green to darken the blood rather than black.

One method I like is using rubber cement apply it and kinda prod it in and out as it dries to make it uneven and give texture then once painted and clear coated it looks actually pretty good. Just watch as the glue doesn’t stick well and can be rubbed off but after a some paint and clear coat it becomes more solid and better

You're definitely not the only person who didn't know about the origin of food coloring, but I'm not surprised, crude oil is in thousands of products that not a lot of people pay attention to. That was a very methodical testing of the different additives to come up with the right combination. Have seen badly injured people and to get the right look isn't easy.

thank you for your help. I've been using nail polish theirs different types kinda pricey a little but for something not to big it works and to make it pop use clear nail polish after the red dyes hope that helps you and you can use other for other stuff😎👽

You probably know this by now but the reason they use the oil in food coloring instead of an actual pigment is traditionally red dye was made from carmine which is ground up bugs making it all natural, the problem is, a lot of people have allergic reactions to it. Your other option is Cadmium which is super bad for you to ingest so that's a no go. You also have alizarin which they're not a lot of research on. Your best bet would be to just get an acrylic ink and use it. Highly pigmented and defo not food safe but would turn out way better.

My favorite from this experiment was the triple thick gloss with the resin tints. I felt this gave the best fresh blood look. I still frequently use a mix of triple thick and paint for an older dried blood look. Hope this helps!

Can you teach me how to make fake mold for clothes and costumes, for example I want to make a cosplay of the last film in the Halloween franchise that came out, the name of the film is Halloween Ends and Michael Myers in this film has his jumpsuit all moldy, do you know if you could teach me? I will be very grateful 😁.

I am corpsing some skeletons and want them to look bloody and gross. The issue I’m having is the prop blood I got off Amazon, when it dries it looks SUPER fake. Is there anything out there that when it dries it will still look like thick wet blood?? Thanks so much

@@simplyrachaelstudios I've never really experimented with different colorings. But if you get the CRYSTAL CLEAR kind. By dap i think. And you paint on your color. Just regular acrylic paint. And put the caulking over it. It stays wet looking. And is very durable. I've used it for props and everything.

I would've stab my finger just to take a picture the before and after color because it drives me crazy that no one can't see that because blood cells will die so I got hot red and rust stain paint I take a brush poot water on it then I show the examples of my real blood and fake it took me 3hours just to make it realistic as possible but finally got it to look the same the fake blood looks just like my real blood then my blood turned into a different color brown ❣️
