On December 6, 2023, at approximately 12:00 P.M., I was stopped at a red traffic light on US-29 (Pensacola Blvd) northbound and W Street in Escambia County, Florida, in my fully marked Florida Highway Patrol Dodge Charger. I observed a newer copper-colored Nissan Altima bearing a Florida license plate of DZZV49. The vehicle was a rental vehicle registered to EAN HOLDINGS, LLC. I observed the vehicle to have dark tinted windows as I was directly behind it. As the traffic light changed to green, the vehicle continued northbound. As we passed the Interstate 10 overpass, I activated my emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle for the tint violation. The driver, later identified as Antoine Vonche Booker (DOB: 09/24/2003), applied his brakes and began slowing down and pulling to the right. Suddenly, the driver rapidly accelerated and swerved left towards Trooper J. Ellerbee's fully marked patrol vehicle, who was also traveling northbound next to the suspect vehicle. The driver then swerved right into a Circle K gas station located at 7950 Pensacola Blvd. As the vehicle entered the parking lot, I observed an object thrown out of the passenger side window that appeared to be a Ziploc-type bag with a light-colored powdery substance (the residue in the bag later tested positive for Xyiazine). Based on my training and experience, I reasonably believed a felony was being committed in my presence, as plastic bags are commonly used to transport and deliver illegal substances. At this time, a pursuit ensued.
The driver continued traveling through the Circle K parking lot northbound at a high rate of speed towards Broad Street. At this time, K9 Trooper Ellerbee took primary in the pursuit as the vehicle turned onto Pittman Ave from Broad Street. The driver continued south on Pittman Ave then east on Hope Dr. The driver then ran a posted stop sign and turned right to continue south on Palafox St. The driver continued southbound at a high rate of speed with a willful and wanton disregard for the motoring public's safety as he continued to disobey traffic control signals, passed other innocent motorists in a no-passing zone, and drove on the wrong side of the roadway multiple times. The driver then continued south and attempted to turn right into the Taco Rock 29 parking lot (5454 Pensacola Blvd) where the driver collided with a curb and overturned his vehicle. The driver, and sole occupant, immediately exited the vehicle through the rear window and surrendered. He was placed in double locked handcuffs by K9 Trooper Ellerbee and later was placed in the rear seat of my marked patrol vehicle.
A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed:
- Near the rear window of the vehicle, 1 Glock 17 Pistol modified to fire in a fully automatic capacity with 31 rounds in the magazine and 1 round loaded in the chamber (Total of 32 rounds). This was found on the ground where the driver crawled out of the vehicle.
- Within the passenger compartment, I located 741 grams of green-leafy marijuana along with multiple digital scales and multiple boxes of plastic sandwich bags.
- Within the driver's door pocket, I located 8 pills (Weighing 5 grams) identified as Oxycodone Hydrochloride/Acetaminophen.
- Within the vehicle’s center console, I located 1 opened bottle of Promethazine syrup.
Based on my training and experience and all the evidence collected, I have reason to believe and do believe that Antoine Vonche Booker was distributing narcotics based on the functioning digital scales with narcotics residue on them, the large quantity of sandwich bags, and the large amount of marijuana all located within the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
After further investigation, the rental vehicle was not rented to Mr. Booker, and the original renter is unknown at this time. The vehicle received heavy damage after the collision, as did the parking lot of Taca Rock 29 (damaged concrete curbing).
Antoine Venche Booker (FL. ID#: B-260-018-03-344-1) was charged with:
- Aggravated Fleeing & Eluding with Property Damage (Rental Vehicle).
- Possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute.
- Possession of a machine gun (Glock modified to fire full-auto).
- Possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (Oxycodone Pills 8, Promethazine).
This offense did occur in Escambia County, Florida, where I am a sworn Law Enforcement Officer.
