Here’s a tip to use about half a cup in a jar of your mixture and add some unbleached all purpose flour to make a thickness of pancake batter and leave it on the counter for about 6 days stirring it a little everyday and boom you have a sourdough starter and you can make bread and rolls 😊

Many thanks, so glad to learn your method of making my own buttermilk!!! Thank you for sharing. I remember seeing my grandmother's buttermilk in her kitchen being made when I was a little girl. All the best to you.

Here’s my question. From whipping cream and making butter, the buttermilk expressed from the butter,do I have to add buttermilk to that, or leave on the counter & watch it?
@RobinHolstein4 күн бұрын
The milk you have left is already buttermilk. However, if you want the “tang” you need to add live culture if you used pasteurized milk. If unpasteurized I would not leave it at room temp more than overnight.

Do you keep it on the counter indefinitely or do I need to put it in the fridge when thickened?
@RobinHolstein4 күн бұрын
It needs refrigerated.

How long does it keep? Or do I freeze it
@RobinHolstein6 ай бұрын
You just keep it in the fridge. It keeps for a long time. But, you want to use it.
