Between the two cars I would deathly pick the Cadillac over the BMW. Why because I own a 745 I I’ve had it for eight years now and let me tell you the cost of owning this thing for repairs is ridiculously through the roof long-term the Cadillac is the better deal BMW may have more options but in the long run you’ll love the Cadillac.

Well said. It's hard to predict which new cars are going to have the most problems down the road. Early CT6 models experienced some transmission issues, we're not sure if it was limited to the 2016 models or not. But both cars are going to be costly either way, even if they don't break down both have complicated mechanicals and electrical systems compared to cars even 10 years ago.

I heard Cadilac has had poor reliability with this model. Has the 2018 model improved? If my best friend depreciation works his magic on this model (and I predict it will be significant), in three years you should be able to pick one of these up for around $40,000. The car has been on the market for two years now and I can't remember seeing a single one, and I live in Montreal where you can see 7 series and S class cars here and there

I think globally only 9k of these were sold in the US in 2016, probably even fewer here. Our GM rep told us that the new CT6-PHEV will only have about 20-25 sent up here, which is too bad, we would have loved to feature it. We also haven't seen any CT6s on the road. The only issue we've heard about the CT6 was with the transmission, some owners of the 2016 models noticed the transmission would jump when coming to a stop, we didn't notice that on this one and it had about 10k km on the clock.

I also have to add that I've seen this car the Cadillac CT6 and the Lincoln Continental in person and I think the lincoln is a better looking car inside and out with the exception of the front end other cadillac which I like better.

There's certainly a lot more potential with the 7 Series, we filmed one alongside this to see how they compare, and we'll be doing the Showdown on it in a few weeks. What are you blabbering about? This car, among other great GM products, have been in design years before Trump was even on anybody's radar. I would like to point out it was the Obama administration that bailed out GM and FCA. "Interior fit and finish With the CT6, Cadillac went for plush and rather purposeful instead of lavish. Panels of glossy carbon-fiber trim (wood is available) punctuate the dashboard and door panels. Most other surfaces, including the sides of the center console, are soft to the touch. Lots of cut and sewn panels cover the dashboard, giving an air of craftsmanship. Additional stitching creates an eye-catching pattern on the leather seats. Consumer Reports review of CT6.

I own one. Absolutely the worse new car experience in my lifetime. The crudely shifting 8 speed transmission eventually failed at 2,500 miles and my new Cadillac CT6 had to be gutted for a replacement transmission. LF fender was so misaligned that the drivers door crunched it. Goodyear tires were defective. Rear axle and bearing failed within the first 130 miles on day of delivery. The new transmission is shifting as crudely as the first one. Confused downshifts and clunking 1-2 upshifts. It's an embarrassment. Attractive car, but cheaply made. Clearly, I got a lemon, so shop carefully.
@PRNTestDrive6 жыл бұрын
Is yours a 2016 model year by any chance? We did check some Cadillac enthusiast forums and saw complaints about the transmissions in the 2016 model year, but since the 2018 is too new we haven't heard of any real issues. One of our colleagues out in Toronto had the super cruise control fail on them during their drive with this about a month ago, steering wheel locked up completely. We have this car booked again for next week where we'll be taking it on an extended road trip to see if it's developed anything. We dropped it off at 10,000km, by now it might be pushing 12k.
@bill_48886 жыл бұрын
It's a late 2017. The 16's, 17's and 18's have the same powertrain, with no apparent enhancements.Cadillac has been cooperative and sympathetic. Gutting the car for a transmission replacement takes over a week. Service bulletins for transmission programming, shift adapts, fluid changes, apologies, etc., have not brought any relief to owners ..... forcing dealers to write 'performs as designed' when nothing smooths out the shifting. Beautiful sedan, no question, looks stunning in black, but tends to perform crudely.
@PRNTestDrive6 жыл бұрын
That's really unfortunate, hopefully they'll be able to figure out what the problem actually is so you can actually enjoy the car! It's one thing when these types of cars start costing a lot 5-10 years down the road, but when it's within the first year it's a huge problem.
@normt54634 жыл бұрын
@@bill_4888 is it being driven enough for the PAL(performance algorithm logic) to adjust? Most say after programming and the 3rd flush it is only rough when cold. Allot of that is the clutch packs adjusting during break-in for fuel economy.
@bill_48884 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't know. I got rid of it and that beautiful new CT6 ended up in auction. All attempts to get its second 8L45 transmission to shift normally failed. That flawed transmission is the subject of a class action suit filed across 8 states against GM. I replaced the car with a 2019 CT6 with the new 10 speed and it's been perfect.
