"My Old Ass" is one of my favorites of the year, but I don't know if I would rank it quite so high. I agree with most of what you said (or didn't say), except for two things. One, as good as Stella undoubtedly is in the lead, I don't consider it a "stellar" performance. Secondly, and most importantly, your failure to acknowledge - for a second time - Audrey Plaza's outstanding supporting turn is truly baffling to me. It's one of the best supporting performances of the year. In fact, I'd argue that it's so pitch-perfect and critical to the film's overall success that I'd give it an Oscar nod! It's strange how you seem to undervalue and underappreciate its importance. And speaking of "strange," "Strange Darling" is still my pick for the best film of the year, although I have yet to see a few more potential contenders. Overall, it's always gratifying to witness your enthusiasm for the movies you love!

@ yah Lee came and gone! I barely heard of it let alone seen any previews or promo for it! I think Lee felt like another Kate Winslet vehicle movie 🍿 for her! No matter how good it is, I guess the audiences are craving for creative casting choices and stories/characters that haven’t been done before or feel fresher at least! War movies or stories about them isn’t my cup of tea to begin with

@@AdonisAngeloLexiYanulis It really did come and go so quickly in theaters. Kate Winslet was really great in it though. She is playing a real-life person, a war photographer who captured some of the most iconic images of the Holocaust today. The story is about her and what she did but also how she had to fight sexism every step of the way to be taken seriously as a woman at that time. So it's a war film, but it has a very human element to it about a real person. If you can handle the war stuff, you should definitely check it out some day!

A very strong year for film this year. Three horror films doesn't surprise me whatsoever and seeing My Old Ass on there was a great surprise because I enjoyed that film as well. The Substance and Strange Darling are on my watchlist at the moment so I can't wait to see what the buzz is all about...I've avoided spoilers so far.

Ms. Perri, your #1 and my #1 mirror entirely: "Wicked Part One" is possibly A Film for The Ages, most definitely The Film We All Need Now, and your assessment is spot on. Otherwise, having seen none of the other films you cite -- all of which I want to see, though, not being a body horror afficionado, will have to sedate myself for "The Substance" -- and having been unable to see many films period in 2024 -- a stage manager's life is not an easy one for filmgoing -- cannot really draw up a comprehensive list, although "Dune 2," "Challengers," and "His Three Daughters" all stayed with me, and "Emilia Pérez" is, finally, a Messterpiece. Not since "Annette." There you have it.
