When i watched The Substance my immediate reaction after, give this film all the award noms but definitely one for Demi. I still stand by this even though i realise a long shot.

A couple of years ago I would have thought a film like The Substance would not come anywhere near the Oscars. But after winners like Everything Everywhere all at Once (which is my favourite film of all time) and Poor Things which are very unique films, I think The Substance is going to be a real contender for next year's Oscars which makes me very happy.

Also Parasite. No one thought a foreign film that particular would win, but it happened.

Man, I really think Demi Moore is a lock for a Best Actress and The Substance for Best Picture. I just see those two at least happening in above the line categories and am hopeful for Margaret Qualley. I am with Perri on this one 😊

I used to run a show venue that Negroblikon played. They graciously gave me a goblin plushie to give to my then 6 year old. My son named him Grobli and years later Grobli still sits on a pineapple chair on my son's bookshelf.

i don't see the substance as horror movie, it's very colorful n bright, glossy and campy, no jump scares, atmosphere is not scary, just one death... to me, it is artistic movie like poor things. and very easy watch ...it feels like logical choice after everything, everywhere all at once...

It's horror in the sense of the body deformity that Demi's character goes through in the movie. Think of the movie The Fly. Same concept and it was considered a horror flick.

I enjoyed the Substance but really almost turned it off multiple times. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I stuck it through, but I can see where it would lose people along the way. If you can’t finish it, hard to vote for it. Sadly enough

I believe BAFTA is where the Substance will take some damage on it's quest for best picture. I feel really good about hair and makeup. I actually feel pretty good about visual effects. I think Moore and Original screenplay have a good shot. Qualley and director are less likely. And then can it get a best picture if it has 3-4 other nominations? Possibly. AFI's list is the worst sign for the Substance atm. It would be good for the substance if another contender dropped off. A complete unknown or A Real Pain maybe? Also, September 5 is dangerous to the Substance.
