Very nice review video. I just ordered a couple of the continental boxes and one British infantry box. I am getting the British army box from Warlord in the same order so it will be interesting to compare them. Do you have a suggested rules set that is good for AWI games? I like a point based system personally so that you have a clear view of equal forces (like the old Warhammer games)

I wonder how these dudes stack up to Warlord AWI guys in terms of size/scale? Do they intermix well?
@AnExtrovertPaints6 жыл бұрын
In my games, I always had a mix of Warlord, Wargames Foundry, Perry plastics and metals, and all scaled well together.

the reason the continental soldiers says 1776 to1783 is because they became formal in 1776. No hate just wanted to let you know.

Evan thanks for the thought, but the Continental army (and thus the US Army) was founded in June of 1775. The Perry’s indicated that they chose this date range because of the uniform style, but honestly there is attestation to this uniform style being in use in 1775 as well. So it seems like an oversite on their part. Either way, it is a minor complaint. I love the set!

It was not recognised as an army. It was a militia nothing more. You cannot change facts to suit your bias.

Thanks for this video! I needed a good look at these guys as I'm considering kit-bashing them with the Grognards from Wargames Atlantic for an odd custom science fiction colonial army.

A lot of misinformed comments here. Perry's date of 1776‐1783 is correct for the figures in the box, since the continental line box includes line infantry in hunting frocks (the tassled uniforms) which were not used by continental line until later in the war, issued as spare uniforms and while doing work in camp. See John Mollo's Uniforms of the American Revolution. Perry is aware that the war started in 1775. If you read the back of the box, it notes that the painting guide includes information for 1775 regiments. More impressive research and careful detail from the Perry Brother's!

How do you get the British arms to match up with the muskets ? They are so hard to line up !

Not so hard! Just takes a bit of technique.

michael roberts On the flag, I have a video on that here on my channel. :-) For basing, I use single 25mm square bases and then use movement trays made by Litko.

AWI Continental Army didn’t exist in 1775 any skirmishes with the British army were using civilian clothes except where militia companies were clothed by self promoted colonels. Have cash buys rank regardless of any military experience.

If it was a box of rebel militia of the AWI then I might agree but the continental regiments didn't take the field until 1776 so as far as history goes the dating on the box is correct. Of course if the box art showed the rebel congress ratifying their formation then maybe you would have a point but it does clearly show troops marching as if off to war. Having said that I just painted a box and a few as a couple of regiments of militia rustics. Tarleton's sabres will show red on their routing back sides no doubt! Tallyho!!!

You are wrong. It was officially recognised as a military force until 1776 no matter how much your blinkered opinion say different. I'm English by the way and will never recognise it any other way. Neither will any reputable manufactures. I live in Nottingham just three streets way from Warlord Games HQ.
