Persia has nice primary cultures. Iranian-Turanian relates you to all the Central Asian Turkic cultures, and Middle-Eastern Heritage connects you with the Arabs and Turks. Persia also has Azerbaijani as a primary culture, which relates them to the Caucasians. I like to play Persia with Cultural Exclusion and State Religion and try to gather all the related cultures and convert them to Shia.

This is also what I encountered with Dai Nam, since their culture accepts Sinosphere and South East Asian heritage, which is basically half the world's population in the game.

Love this guide, exactly what I've been looking for to get back into Vicky 3 after largely staying away from 1.5 until the patch gets a bit more mature. I'm doing a Persia run alongside yours and it's really making a ton of sense as you walk us through it! I'm starting to diverge from your playthrough a bit just because of how the situation in the world is progressing, but: is there a better way for an unciv to dig themselves out of deep debt besides just pausing construction for months/years to clear away the debt? As you mention, deficit spending seems way more tricky with an unciv vs. your regular European nation.

53:30 as soon as the Industrialists joined the Landowners, the legitimacy jumped up past 50 so you did not need to have lowered your taxes. I don't know why the calculation doesn't take into account the Party joining legitimacy bonus but that's just how it is

Having played Persia in 1.5.4 i can say you definitively want to expand into central asia because you dont discriminate against any of the native pops on cultural exclusion , Russia likes to puppet Khiva early so you will probably want to take them quite quickly, the other central asian states Russia will often ignore so you can take your time with those. Having central asia will allow you to pump opium for domestic consumption and export so its definitively worth the infamy despite the mediocre amount of pops.

I am looking to start Vic3 after watching a bunch of your videos. Going for the early Inheritance strat as Russia. But I have a couple of questions: how much more difficult does the game become if you ramp up infamy early? Do you get horrible coalition wars against you like in EU4? Does it change anything if you find a way to break up the European Majors early on? And how much weaker does your ramp-up as Russia become if you delay going for South America and Africa until you are firmly the #1 world power instead of grabbing Transvaal and Peru-Bolivia early?

AI can decide to join any war against you the more infamy you have , its completely unpredictable[well as long as they are friendly they wont join against you but infamy lowers their opinion of you] But Russia is strong early but will quickly lose to GP powers cause of tech later if you dont research them or capitalize from start of the game [cause you have low education] In the case of powers that do not have land border with you just keep an army defending and you'll be fine Russia doesn't really need to vassalize south america or any nation at all at the beginning it has all the resources in it from the start ,the rest is just bonus maybe oil later but i mean come you are russia oil is everywhere What it really needs is reforming from peasant economy to industry[capitalist for the win ,laissez faire , no serfs,education ,etc] but also army tech if going against GP Hope this helps, ah and take a look at the interest map mode to see who can intervene in the wars to come.

I mean it’s pretty easy but I don’t like to play like that. The strategy is to juggle humiliations early so you never have to fight a lot of gps at once. I’d still go for s Africa and Peru though

What would you have done differently in terms of laws without re-rolling interest group leaders? I have the same question for what would you do if you didn't know about the corn laws journal entry? I don't like gaming the system but I understand that some people want optimal play and the game maybe doesn't offer much variety in how you handle IG's and laws. I've been bingeing your V3 videos for about a week now and I really appreciate your tutorial videos and I think your game series and starting steps have a good balance of gameplay and then highlights. I haven't played since 1.2 and I'm looking forward to returning on the 14th to try out the new DLC and all the updates.

I got pretty lucky in mine. Got slavery on that first go. The intelligentsia agitator helped a lot. Also, got laisse fair super fast. Also sided with the ottomans against Egypt for a Hedjaz transfer

Omanian part of kerman has port from start you can take. Also russia and ottoman often remove their interest in persia in early years so you can go take all those lands without them interfering

Did you go for landed voting over other options purely because the landowners were still strong? I hardly ever go for that options, I usually aim for oligarchy directly from autocracy in these sorts of early game situations as it seems to make the industrialists extremely powerful while still letting you squeeze other groups into government to pass laws as needed. I've also never understood when it's better to go for wealth voting over oligarchy.

It’s easier to pass landed because no opposition means you don’t roll as bad when you low roll. Either way it’s transitional, as I want to get onto census/universal long term

If you're going to re-roll a lot, it's faster to enter debug mode and use the 'kill_character' command than to restart the game again and again.

Happy to see you do Persia. It's one of my favorite countries to play. It has everything you need, especially if you go east. I just hope you stay in the middle east/india instead of colonizing africa or east asia or south america. Persian global colonies just seems weird, and I would rather see Big Persia from India to the Med.

What would be the strategy if you don't have the dlc to enable you to make agitators into IG leaders? With Landowners at 50% or so clout at the start you woul have issues trying to pass LF even with a movement i imagine.

I think by the end of this the industrialists are pretty powerful, so a combination of that and forcing revs probably. Early landed voting so you can law pass after forcing a rev

The progress that I got from tech spread that way was guaranteed to go into lathe and cotton gin. If I researched lathe and cotton gin first, atmospheric engine might not have been the tech that starts natural spreading. By going atmo progress first, I extend the time that cotton gin and lathe are nat spreading, letting me effectively control that nat spread is going on one of those three techs.

Its not ordinary game, because u do not have acces to sea and u have to realy to market. Interesting, One of the supplements to your military is the consumption of wine and your population is muslim...who don't drink. This makes me wonder if the military simply bypasses population restrictions/taboos/obsessions thus allowing you to run much more profitable plantations or to add regional bonuses that specific nations enjoy over others.
