Persimmon Jiro repotting and does it need to be pruned?

Just a quick video on my persimmon Jiro, it's very root bound and I should have repotted it last Spring after I bought it, but as it had several flower buds I decided to leave it to see what would happen. Amazing how big this plant has grown in such a small pot.

To produce more fruits you do need bigger pot

Yes that is sensible but it’s best to move them up gradually in pot size here as I find pots that are too big for a small plant tend to get waterlogged here with all our rainfall and the plants often fail for that reason 🙄. I’ve lost 2 jujube and 3 persimmons due to soil that was too wet 😫😫

Yes it did get its first fruit last year but unfortunately we had heavy frosts in April this year which ruined all of my persimmons 😥😥

@@lyonheart84 o my God..If you could please tell me whether Fuyu persimmon can be grown in a hot and humid weather for fruiting..?

They love summer heat but like all deciduous fruits they need a cool rest period in Winter to develop flowering buds on old wood. Depends on where you live, I know of people growing them in Florida, California, Mediterranean, Melbourne etc so I assume that as long as they get a short dormant period in Winter they will fruit. They need a lot less chill hours than say an apple or a peach.
