When I was little, my grandparents planted a Fuyu persommion tree in our backyard. That tree grew so big and we had persimmons every season, every year. We had so many fruits each year that we would give them away in bags. Sadly, we had to move and obviously, we couldn't take the huge tree with us. To whoever lives in that house now better appreciate all the love and care my grandparents gave that tree and the fruits that tree bears.

I’d like to propagate some of my neighbors common persimmons. The house he bought has three mature trees that are about 25-30’ high and yield a massive amount of fruit. The deer absolutely love his yard and large herds including batchelor groups hang out there. It’s like Marty Stouffords wild America over there come peak hunting season. I’d like to propagate some cuttings but I’m not sure if they will fruit . I’ll get some from each tree but I was wondering when is the best time of year to try this?

Now its May 2023 and it’s LOADED with flowers turning to young fruit. The tree is only 4.5’ tall, so I don’t think I should keep all the fruit as the young branches likely can’t support it. Great presentation! I have a question. 7 years ago I bought a small “Asian” persimmon tree from a local Home Depot in north TX. It is now 10 ft high. This year it started to bear fruits for the very 1st time. However the persimmon fruits are very small, not too much bigger than a cherry and its seeds inside are relatively large in size. Should I assume this tree was not grafted properly when it was young? If yes, can I now graft some of its branches? Thank you!

Good video. Where about are you located? I completely agree about the over fertilizing of the persimmon, especially nitrogen. I learned that the hard way with fruit drop. However, I disagree with a few statements, but that might be a difference in rootstock. Which rootstock are you using? I'm here in Florida, and I've been grafting Persimmons for over a decade.
