I own 714sm and a screwdriver does the trick for the bridge. There is no defect there. It is just the expected maintenance required that will keep them pristine for many years

I own 3 pair: 714 Havana/Brown, 714SM Lt Havana/Blue, and 649 Black/Green, all in 52mm. The feeling of quality, not to mention quality of image through the lenses, is second to none. I own and love Maui Jim, Ray Ban, Revo, etc, but when it comes to quality of construction and quality of design no other brand marries the two the way Persol does. My only criticism is that I don't like the way the 714SM arms close inward, and then have to be forcibly pushed around the frames. Bit of a surprising design decision, when the standard 714 hinging system makes far more sense. And, the 714 arms stay firmly open when you don't want them to fold, whereas the 714SM arms will often fold a bit when you take the glasses off for a sec and hold them in your hand. Other than that, these sunglasses are perfection! 😎

ViddyWellBrother I definitely agree with you about the quality! And also about the way they fold in the more premium SM fold in just like a pair of folding Ray Bans where the normal 714 fold down which is honestly nicer

For a smaller face the 52mm is much better. The 54s are actually quite large. They worked for Marcello Mastroianni, but for the rest of us I think the 52s are probably a bit better. 😊

Wow, you are the first person I have heard say Persol are better quality than Maui Jim. When I was researching or trolling forums, most said that Persol could not even touch Maui Jim in quality. Most said the quality of Persol went way down hill because Luxottica.

I have both 649 52MM and 714SM 54MM. Every time I put 649 on, it feels small and every time i put 714SM it feels way too large. I still can not figure it out!

A bit of a weird question... As a owner of 649 (the only expensive sunglasses I have), what brand or a particular sunglasses would you recommend to look into for a 2nd pair and not get dissapoined compared to these Persol's? I like 649/714 style as well as Ray Ban justin or wayferer style? For example I've tried Ray Ban Justin, but the light weight and those ruberized frames just didn't feel like those were as quality or really worth the money

Try the ray ban wayfarer ease 4340. They are like the original wayfarers but lenses arn't tilted forward like originals, they have good weight to them, proper OG hinges and feel much better quality than the new style wayfarers or justins. I was torn between them and the 649s, went for the wayfarers in the end as they were cheaper. Still gonna get these 649s so i have 2 decent pairs in different styles.

The Persol Ratti vintage models 203 are awesome and very much like the Ray-Ban Wayfarer but taller (The Weeknd wears them in a pic and they're just a dimension perfect D-Frame, I think) and the 653 which are the closest frame Persol made to the Wayfarer and even have the same silver symbol on the front ends.

I have the 714 and I don't like that the 🕶 keep sliding down because of the weight. The sliding is serious, the 🕶 can end almost at the middle of my 👃🏼 have you experienced this? Do you have some solution for that 😥⁉️

@@lh9772 I got fixed the issue, I put some 💧 in the microwave for 1️⃣ minute and after that I placed there the part of the temples where they begin to bend around the 👂🏼 for 2️⃣5️⃣ish seconds... then I pulled the temples out of the 💧 and I gave the temples an additional bending. That bending totally fixed the problem for me ✅ now I'm no longer disappointed and I'm instead loving my Persols. Before the fix, I 💭 that the temples weren't wide enough for my head but that's not the case. The heaviest pair of sunglasses I have ever worn (714) and I have worn quite a bit of them. If you want something that you can comfortably use for all day long, you should definitely buy something else. Like Ic berlin, Mykita or Lindberg.

Green is darkest and best for bright, sunny days, especially facing into the sun. The Brown is great for spring time wearing, or soft sunlight days. The colors with brown lenses are very beautiful and enjoyable, but on a very bright day they are a little too light, where they are not as dark. The blue lenses are great for autumn or recreation wearing, such as vacation to parks, water or gardens. The blue lenses are gradient, so dark at top, light at bottom and they are the least darkest. I have worn Persol since 2012 and still have my Po-714 in black/green lenses which are my daily driving glasses.
