Persona 3 - Heartful Cry piano arrangement

I never played this game. I dated someone though, for 2 1/2 years, who had. The relationship in retrospect was awful. It was corrupt and unfulfilling and ultimately futureless. However we were so so in love. Persona was his favourite game at the time; he would talk for miles about it, relate it to everything, proudly relaying as much information to me as possible and i began to love it too without having played a single second. He sent me a piano cover of “the poem of everyones soul”, and of course went on about how moving the song is. I listened to it and liked it enough, but a few days later this video came up in my recommended. To this day, hearing the first few seconds of this arrangement always makes my heart break. It sounds like one. Like something aching horribly; grieving a bittersweet loss. Like something gone before its time or something that was never supposed to exist anyway, but it did, and the only remanent is the recovery. It really does sound like a heartful cry and the way you play it orchestrates that emotion so well. Thank you for giving me a chance to hear it like this. That is the exact emotion this song is meant to convey, and I think it's absolutely amazing that this song was able to demonstrate that. It is a truly beautiful rendition of the song, and the fact that it was able to do this even for someone who has never experienced the heartbreak in Persona 3 is moving.

This song is uhh, really sad.. You don’t play as the MC that the game initially starts you out with, and you’re forced to fight those you care about during this song For some characters, halfway through the battle they will remark how they won’t give up or how they’re “doing just fine and must keep going”

I am very late, like 5 years late, but your comment is wonderfully written, and thank you for sharing your emotions with us. I am also quite surprised you felt these emotions without ever playing the games it is in. You can say that the characters that the song is related to basically almost went through the same thing as you, althought for them, they had lost the person who protected them and was the one who united them towards a common goal. But after his death, their group disintegrates and they are kind of forced to battle each other to make their opinion win. Fortunately, they break down after it and share their true emotions and grief with each other, and each character ends up realizing that he/she weren't the only ones feeling grief and sadness, but that they were all going through grief and were trying to shove their emotions down and escape it, which ended them up in the hard situation they are in... By revealing their grief to each other, the characters find the strenght and support they need, and end up discovering the reason behind their friend's death, and realize that they can still keep their promise in some way. NOW, i was EXTREMELY vague about the plot i described above because i didn't want to spoil you, so sorry if you don't understand it well, as i struggle to understand it too, but, in your situation, i think you should always remember that you have friends who you can share your emotions with, either here or in real life, and that we are all grieving, but we should all support each other. What i am saying is, remember we got your back, and you are not alone, but we're here with you!!! If your boyfriend hurt you, then it's bad to come back to him in my opinion, but please remember that your friends, family and/or us care for you, that we are all here with you, that we all don't have to carry our problems alone, and we are all supporting you in all your endeavors. When you open up to someone, he can help you carry your problems, and you feel better i think!!! Thank you again for sharing how you felt with us, and please remember that we are here for youl!!! ❤❤
