Which was why the Priestess Shadow taking over the train would be disasterous, as it would make the train "teleport" and kill lots of innocent people.

The only thing I have ever questioned about this game was what in the hell compelled him to pick up that gun, put it to his temple, and pull the trigger. On the console version it was only slightly addressed (Pharos small dialogue), while on the handheld it just seemed like he picked it up without even knowing the situation. Made me feel like he was thinking he could commit suicide or something.

As far as the mythology goes it's pretty amazing. Orpheus is the representation of the fool who escapes from death only to find that his escape is meaningless. Thanatos (besides being death incarnate) is also representative of the human drive to destructive behavior (and death). So Orpheus becoming Thanatos makes sense in light of the story. The MC cannot escape death. He can, however, embrace it and still achieve victory.

As for the aesthetic choice of making them look like guns (which I'm guessing was received differently in Japan where they're much more strict about actual guns) was deliberately provocative and, as mentioned earlier, intended to go along with the ongoing theme of the inevitability of death. It also makes things ambiguous when Strega ends up having actual guns.

Since the incident first started in Japan, the dark hour starts at midnight in Japan. Americans would not see Nyx as Nyx is the moon. Lastly I wouldn't know about the plane thing, but perhaps they are stuck in suspension for the duration of the dark hour?

You know, it always amazes me when people in fiction stop running so they can yell "HURRY!" at each other. It just looks so bizarre. But it does add a little tension, stretches out the scene and makes it more interesting than if they just dashed up the stairs, so I suppose it works out.

My guess is the Dark Hour happens only in japan at midnight. And it occurs in other countries when midnight hits there. Only applying to certain fields to where it reaches as to not screw up time. It would occur at midnight everywhere. At least that is my theory but it's still a bit off. I'm tired though. So I'll figure out a better explanation of my theory later.

Well, if you watch the cutscene, you can see that Yukari is trying to use her persona, but she can't quite do it. I think he saw what she was trying to do, and how she didn't die, and decided to try it himself. (plus Pharos encouraging him.) .......Or, he wanted to die. Right there. Equally likely.

@flowXehtXebirt after reading the wiki... and refreshing my memory... There is Thanatos (a persona), and there is Death (Ryoji). They look the same. Since Ryoji = Pharos... And Pharos is "inside" of MC... MC is a carrier of Death, so to speak. What emerged from MC is Death (Ryoji/Pharos) You can create Thanatos from Pharos' max social link, which makes sense now doesn't it? :P I love mah P3. :D

if you use a bow he says "come forth" and with other weapons (2 handed swords, axes, etc.) he makes different sounds when summoning. This is the only time you hear him say anything in a cutscene though

There is a P4 movie. It's the series condensed into a 90 minute film including the true ending of the game. (think of it as being like Neon genesis Evangelion Death and Rebirth ) The P3 announcement came after the films credits , and it is an anime. "Western term for animation created in japan" It's a anime film . not a series.

Since the Death arcana is hiding within MC, and this is the first time MC unleashes his power, he cannot control it and Death makes an appearance (As Thanatos) since Death and MC are one in the same. Orpheus simply over-loaded with power. That's what I understood anyways, ha ha.

Greek Myth fun fact: When Orpheus died in the stories, he was torn into pieces by monsters. I guess what Thanatos did was a reference to that.
