I feel like this, as a battle theme, is better than the new Mass Destruction. I just love everything about this! The new lyrics, the improved instrumental, and the beat drop feels much heavier.

Same. I feel like overhauling the lyrics in the p3 reload version knocks it down for me. Listening to the same lyrics in the 1st verse as the original in this song is so nice. The second verse and added instruments has made this one become my favorite version Mass Destruction.

I agree that the drop hits way harder, but I wanted to find out what the actual difference was. After listening really close to directly compare the versions, I can say that the instrumentals are surprisingly a lot closer than I thought. The bassline and guitar parts are slightly different, with the guitar sound also being a little bit more subdued. But the buildup section at 0:53 is exactly the same, so you wouldn't expect the drop to hit any differently. However, there IS a much more impactful difference in the mixing of the vocals. In the reload version, the vocals are doubled for most of the verse (its incredibly faithful to the original version). But in this version, its almost entirely solo, unlike the FES version which is mixed the same as the original. And it makes a pretty big difference, because the chorus (which is completely unchanged) handles the vocals very differently from the original. The harmonies in the reload version are much quieter and more pushed to the side, so doubling the verse makes it so there isn't that much of an increase in intensity from the verse to the chorus. Making the verse solo in this version fixes that, since going from 1 voice to multiple is way more noticeable of a jump than from 2. (and I only count 2 harmony parts in this, compared to the original having 4 or 5) basically more subdued verse = chorus feels stronger i said "version" 8 times in this comment

This just makes me think most of my issues are with the director for both the cutscenes and the music, Azumi performed this really good in a live event, but here it sounds very odd Also the frog overpowering the guitar riff is a crime

A lot of the mixes from Reload are really weird. Some instruments are just way too loud and hurt the song, not truly terrible but pretty sloppy mixes imo
