20:27 The fatigue system in previous versions of P3 would prevent you from taking sick party members into Tartarus, which could be punishing at times

This probably one the best reviews they've ever done. Nobody went on too long and Greg was asking some really good questions. Barrett did a great job on this one. He's showing improvement in his review of Persona 3. Really enjoyed this one and I'll be picking it up Friday.

Why did Sega have to launch two giant RPGs so close to each other. Ah well they know I’ll get to it eventually! Edit- to add on some nerdy thoughts, I am really looking forward to this once I am done with Infinite Wealth (might be another month or more). I love persona 4 and 5, never played 3. Even though I played them with EN voices originally, recently I switched to the JP voices when I replayed P4G and played P5T, and I think I’m sticking with that for this too. It’s a tough choice because I genuinely love the EN performances. The only problem is the way they pronounce the names. I mean who the heck is SuMEREray. It’s not really the actors’ fault though, they do as they’re told. But anyway…that aside I’m sure both casts of P3R will be great.

Dude. Same. I seriously don't know why someone at Sega/Atlus didn't think "Hm. Two of our biggest franchises which also happen to be two long RPGs coming out a week a part is a great idea!" I'm glad I've played P3P before because I feel less in a rush to play it when I just started LaD8. Both are two of my favorite series but P3 will have to wait because by the time I wrap up IW FFVII drops.

I was never on Vita Island, but it's thanks to Greg that I even discovered P4, P3P, then P5. Thank you to all, but shoutout to Joey, because she deserves to survive the Dark Hour.

Even if I rarely agree with Barrett, I will always enjoy hearing his opinions because they tend to be very well thought out and it encourages me to think more about why I disagree than the average knee-jerk reaction. Excited to see him on the show this week!

I’ll never forget how I got into persona. Like most people I started with 5, but I remember after getting myself a PS4 Pro for Christmas in 2019 (thank you Amazon refurbished) I knew that I was gonna get 3 games, TLOU part 1, God of War 2018, and Detroit Become Human. My local GameStop had a buy two get two free sale for used games. After grabbing the three that I wanted, I had one spot left. I remember googling “PS4 exclusives” because I’m an Xbox person so I had that console just to play the exclusives. And the only ones that really jumped out at me were Spider-Man and Persona 5. I had never heard of Persona before, but reading that it was a JRPG turn based game I thought to myself, “Hey, I like pokemon. This’ll be combat like that.” (Can you tell I never played a final fantasy or other JRPG). It was also 5 bucks (so free with the sale) and Spider-Man was $40 where the rest of the games were $20, so I got persona 5 and played it first, to see if my gamble paid off. 120 hours later I still look back at that time as being one of the best times of that time period. Top 5 game ever for me.

The original persona 3, as well as the re-releases were PlayStation exclusives. It’s just now the remake is multi-plat because they have a marketing deal with Microsoft, but it’s still on PlayStation and originally a PlayStation game. Don’t get it twisted

Gamescast long ago used to be a podcast about discussing games and game related stuff, then it turned into bloated reviews of whatever new thing that would get clicks. Same thing's happening with PSILY, except it was playstation related. And now they don't even have Janet who had become my fave KF memeber over the past years.

love the editing going on here. make the lighting more even across the stage would make the pip even better! greg is like super lit and everuone else is sitting in a shadow like some noir detective film

I'm so excited for this game. Gonna be playing on Xbox. Can also play natively on the ROG ally too so I can get that handheld fix if needed. Hopefully the New Zealand trick works and we can play a day early. I'll be playing Infinite Wealth until then!

Biggest concern for this game for me is if there'll be a perfect schedule guide up soon enough for release with the global launch being the same for the first time. I love these games and want to see all their content and unfortunately only have time for one playthrough. Always makes it hard.

59:04 the point of the Platinum (to me) should involve 100% Social Links and Compendium in Persona games. If it's too much for someone, then the platinum isn't for them, imo.

I donno, I like that P5 Royal platinum didnt require that So while getting the P5 Royal plat doesnt mean i 100% completed the game, I still feel super proud of my investment and commitment into that game But I have no issue at the end of the day with the platinum requiring 100% social link completion

Got into Persona 4 Golden on PS Vita remember greg’s review but only played 10 hours. When it came to Game Pass last year finally finished and it’s Top 3 best JRPG’s ever and maybe Top 25 Games of All-Time. Whoever remembers: Persona 4 Golden has some really good voice actors: Troy Baker (Indiana Jones) plays Kanji, Juri Lothenhal (Spider-Man & Sunset Overdrive) plays Yosuke & Laura Bailey (Gears 5) plays Rise. Amazing cast. Can’t wait to play Persona 3: ReLoad on Game Pass Day-1 which means it’s Cross-Save between Xbox & ROG Ally which makes it feel like a PS Vita 2 Experience lol. Blessing if you read this great review you rock 🪨🔥

Fell off Persona 5 after about 20 hours or so, but this one sounds way more up my alley with a darker tone and focus on the strategic elements of combat. Hoping it gets its hooks in me

Why we choose which reviews are on which shows are for a multitude of reasons, what makes sense for each show, what plans we already have for other shows, etc Is the fact that we reviewed Yakuza on Xcast misleading since that’s multiplatform?

I wouldn't go so far and call it half-assed. It's a question I asked myself throughout and the conclusion I came to was the team probably not wanting to add several new arcana which would involve adding way more personas than they already did, finding a balance with the cards you can get during shuffle time, etc. It would be a bigger undertaking than I think we give it credit for. They obviously did want to do something to get those characters more fleshed out and involved though! That's why I think their "mini social links" were plenty for me story wise. - Barrett

@@BarrettCourtney “definitive edition is just a term used by the developers or publishers of the game to say “yeah this is the best edition of the game we've released so far “ while some people might use the word Ultimate Edition for ones that include all dlcs and extras, I think definitive is the new version you tell people to play.

I enjoy Barrett's opinions but I really wish he could clean up the "uhhhs" and "ahhhhs"....it's very grating and I tend to turn off podcasts he's on. I'm not trying to be a dick, just giving my honest critique as a listener. I'm not diminishing how hard it is to create content. I would love to be a podcaster like these guys but I know I wouldn't be any good at it, so I don't do it.
