Persona 3's Evokers - Gadgets and Gizmos

Persona 3 took full advantage of its dark tone with the inclusion of Evokers, but how exactly do these enigmatic models work? Kyle pieces together the brief glimpses of lore that the Persona series has given us in an attempt to pull together an explanation for these stylish weapons.

Funny thing is that kuromau used a persona without an evoker to battle a shadow, before he joins your party, and for another example chidori while she was in the hospital her persona was trying to choke her to death even though she didnt have her evoker with her. So it's possible that the evoker is used for not only awakening your persona and etc but also helps you control when you want to use it, and as you grow and have more experience with your power it becomes easier to control and alows you to summon it even without an evoker.

@@jellymatsuryuka6853 Takaya doesn't use an evoker, at least not in his battle and not anywhere else that I can remember. And if you were to summon your persona multiple times without an evoker your mental state would probably absolutely just explode

Ooh, as a suggestion for this series, maybe try the Demonica Suit from SMT Strange Journey or, a more odd choice, Fludd from Super Mario Sunshine.

I'm so late to this it's almost a crime, but holy crap i think i realized why you were so confused on what the evokers actually do. The reason you were confused was cause it doesn't physically do anything other than physically connect the persona user with the circuitry within the plume of dusk. Here's a real life example. Quartz Crystals have piezoelectricity, allowing them to store electricity into the physical stone. Think of the evokers as wires. there would be an psychological impulse from the persona user after they pull the trigger, and that would connect with the plume of dusk, which would process the feeling of facing death, to summoning a persona, and then would send that command to the persona user's brain. Of course with practice, those users could develop the ability to do it without the use of the evoker/plume of dusk. In theory, you could put a plume of dusk into a fricken amulet and touch it when facing death to summon a persona as well. Or even put this to the next level, if wired properly, the bike mitsuru uses would perform the exact same way as an evoker. just think of johana except as an evoker lol

Just think of the plume of dusk not as the "battery" but as the cpu. it processes and translates information to something our brains can understand.

Anti Shadow Suppression units like Aigis are made intentionaly with emotion and fear so they can summon personas Her evoker is a explosive charge right next to her core, it has blank explosives, like the evokers, but the theme still stands, it may be safe, but it COULD kill her on the spot When your life is on the line do you show your true face (your persona)

But what gets me is Makoto. If the Persona formed with fear and survival instinct. Regardless of if Makoto shot himself or not nothing would've happened. At the beginning of the game Makoto doesn't care about anything. It wouldn't make a lot of sense for that to be the catalyst for Persona summoning 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

adding a ton of spaces to spoiler due to Pesona 3 Reload being recent it's implied in a couple cut scenes that Takaya isn't exactly human anymore, at one point referring to himself as a shadow (even using the line "I am shadow, the true self" that P4 fans should recognize. although this is only in reload) If you haven't played Reload and you were spoiled don't complain to me, I did warn you

The Evoker is a DLC item in Persona 5, acting as an accessory. Why it's not an actual pistol for Joker is something I've been asking for years.

@@EliTheBraixen Ammo and looks don't factor much in P5 and P5R. As long as it LOOKS like a real gun, it essentially BECOMES a real gun in the Metaverse. In Royal, every Shadow assumes the thing is fully loaded too, so it always has ammo at the start of a battle.

So then Persona 1,2,4&5 users have better control of their emotions than SEES(and fans call these losers the best party)? I can simplify the theory in this way: The Evoker forces a Persona out of your psyche, while Persona Users without evokers show more control over their abilities(only in P3 has a Persona gone against it's user).

I know this is really late, but I think the video may’ve been a bit more on the money. The Persona users of 1 and 2 can summon their Personas so easy thanks to Philemon granting the power to them instead of having to earn it. In 4 and 5, the party is in some form of the Collective Unconscious (the TV World and the Metaverse, respectively), which likely makes it easier to summon Personas without a manmade tool. The Dark Hour, however, is an unnatural occurrence that never should have happened, and is connected more so to the final boss than to the Collective Unconscious. The protagonists are also not granted their power, and instead have the “Potential” to wield a Persona from the get-go. Then, upon coming to terms with their mortality and using the Evoker, are finally able to let out their Personas. So, the main reason they have to use an Evoker is because it’s such a pain in the ass due to their situation. This is somewhat addressed in P4A, where the P3 characters can easily summon their Personas by just calling to them, and instead use their Evokers for special attacks.

My theory which probably is not true: Scientist have found out that, if you shoot Electrons at certain region in the brain people start to get the feeling of ghosts, demons or even gods. What if evokers work the same way but in a stronger form?
