There was only one time seeing that sentence hurt me... Back on my first playthrough of vanilla P5, I ended up romancing Takemi. Then, thanks to my personal "experience" (read: frustration) playing P3FES, I realized the Empress Arcana was gonna get shafted outta screen time so I rushed to complete it. By the time I got to the romance prompt, I was so eager to hit yes...then I saw it. In the end, I didn't want to hurt anyone so I friendzoned Haru; a mistake that still haunts me to this very day.

Yeah, they should have allowed the protagonist to date her right after Rank 5, believing that she was Kasumi. After she returns to being Sumire, the relationship is put on hold until Rank 10 and the player is given the option to continue the romance, accepting the true her and wanting to learn more, or offically break things off since the woman they were attracted to was a mere fantasy.

N P Not only that, I noticed that the protagonist and Sumire’s midwinter uniforms are similar designs except, the protagonist has a blue scarf and Sumire has a pink scarf. At first, you notice she's an extremely typical subservient love interest who calls you "Senpai" and wants to be around you all the time and you're like "c'mon Atlus, do you have to make it so obvious?" But then you learn who she really is and what she's been through, and as she grows to reject cognitive distortions and accept her past, you start rooting for her and caring about her. And the proceeding romance feels natural. Then she says goodbye to you in the final cutscene and your heart can barely take it. Video games, man.

What sucks even more is that she gets more screen time than Haru and somehow you only get to use her for one palace. You also only get to use her Third Stage Persona for one battle. And I especially didn’t like her in the ending since she barely says anything and it did not feel heartfelt at all.

@@weebboi9457 what else could they have done ? They had to make it as neutral feeling as possible. Plus she gives joker advice he previous gave her, bit with full confidence with who she is now. The old Sumire wouldnt have confidence to just say goodbye so easily. That's a huge step for her as a character; being able to be confident even while Joker isnt around. And besides, sometimes the most heartfelt goodbyes are the ones where not many words are even exchanged. As for the only having Ella for one fight thing, that's sorta on you cause you can still go through the palace and fight to get to use her final persona a bit before the final boss. That isnt the fault of the game. The fun thing about all of it is that it's just a matter of perspective. Some people seem to have wanted some sort of super touching / romantic heartfelt goodbye but forget they need to make the ending feel as neutral as they possibly can, but then there are others who appreciate what little time they did get with / from her.

Don't get me wrong, I Love Sumire as a character (considering she gets more development), but the way she was integrated into the game just felt so disjointed. Her awakening was just plopped into Haru's arc and they don't give an explanation on how she even got the navigation app (They may have but at this point in time I'm not aware). She also feels like a separate entity since she barely interacts with the rest of the thieves. As for the ending, heartfelt doesn't always have to be romantic. This isn't a problem with just Sumire, but all of the P.Thieves. They barely spend any time with Joker and don't get more than 2 lines. I understand that their goodbye is not permanent (Not if Atlus has anything to say about it *Cough* More spinoffs *Cough*), but its the end of the flipping game, give us an ending where it feels like 120 hours of playing was worth it. As for Ella, I agree somewhat. If I tried, I maybe could have gotten her a bit earlier, but even then it still feels rushed and you don't get her for many battles. You literally use all 3 of Sumire's personas in a single palace. You get to use the other first stage personas for at least one palace, enough time to appreciate them and fanboy/girl how cool (or bad, people have different opinions) they are, making them more memorable. I don't know this just my take on Sumire.

Aww, that’s so cute. I’m currently playing and just got into a relationship with Futaba again (the third time when you count the times in Persona 5, too). But, although I didn’t think much about Kasumi at the beginning I liked her more and more as the game progresses and now I’m actually kinda regretting choosing Futaba and not her. That has never happened with the other love choices. Oh well. In my second play through I’m definitely choosing Kasumi.

The only real downside with Summer is that you don't get as much time with her as the other ladies. It's a real shame that you don't get a Christmas event with her or that you can't say goodbye to her. But the chemistry, compatibility and the connection is 100% there. They're cute as hell.

I was bummed out too, but you have to remember, in the anime cutscenes, they have to keep everything as mutual as possible, they don’t know who you romanced, and think of it this way, you the player gave Sumire the confidence to do things by herself. The old Sumire would’ve never had the courage to say goodbye to Joker, she would’ve panicked, but you gave her the strength to stand on her own 2 feet, and depend on herself and not on others, especially you. Cherish the times you spend with her. The hype around her was BIG, and Damn it, it was worth it.

They made so much easier in royal to do. I managed to do all max confidants and all max social links on my first run. You're angry at the game for your own negligence. 😔

At the very least Sumire was very mature about Joker not reciprocating her romantic feelings if you did friendzone her. She actually wasn’t expecting for Joker to feel the same way anyway, she is only caught off guard if Joker ACTUALLY reciprocates those feelings back to her so kind of a cute detail when she mentions she didn’t expect to get that far in the relationship when she did outright confess.

Gotta give Sumire some major credit here, she’s the ONLY romanciable female character in the game to outright say “I love you!” to the protagonist (in this case Joker) before they can say anything back to them. Ann is a close second, but only if you indirectly confess to her first in her rank 9 confidant. Everyone else gives an indirect romantic implication question that Joker can have a chance to say yes or no to it first before anything can happen. With *SUMIRE* however, she flat out shot FIRST with the love confession before Joker has any time to answer the question! So in my humble opinion, that 100+ hour wait for this moment in my first play through was totally worth it just to see Sumire confess to Joker outright and that cemented the head cannon that *Sumire* would be the girl that would steal Joker’s heart instead of the other way around. (Well technically he did steal Sumire’s heart (MULTIPLE TIMES), but I meant in regards to the other girls that Joker can possibly romance)
