Mustafa co-founded and served as former head of applied AI at DeepMind. His current venture is Inflection-and his co-founder is Reid. Mustafa discusses AI in the context of other technological advancements throughout history and shares the philosophies that guide his work and life. Sometimes trailblazers get blazed by their own trail. Mustafa has helped me clarify my advocacy for ethics in AI by reading about his path and history which I can relate to. Have mistakes been made? Yes. Has his success in becoming the lead for Microsoft AI and getting MS to hire most of his employees from Inflection AI show the success of his strat - promotion of bioethics ( after he dropped out of Oxford at 19; Mayor of London hired him as a policy officer for this reason - he recognized Mustafa's good intention of helping people in crises on the verge of taking their own lives when he made the Muslim Youth Helpline). It's a win-win to prioritize our species' mental health; that's good for business in the long run. When we lose the capitalistic standard of quarterly revenue targets and CAGR, and reprioritize to sustainable - we will evolve and elevate.
