Two things: 1) I’d say grace is to the institutional church as new wine is to old wine skins. So much of our conception of “church” rests on “works” that even “free grace” people can’t comprehend a way of living without reference to the Law. If you can’t beat people over the head with the Law, much of the institutional church model falls apart. 2) You don’t know how many times I’ve been afraid to ask God for things because I was afraid I was asking out of my own lusts. Even in the Synoptics, Jesus goes on saying how much God gives good gifts to those who ask Him.

I keep going back to the point that you make about not being able to understand the Bible because of pastors hijacking every verse you've ever read. It literally just dawned on me like a firework explosion in my head that staring at your face in the mirror and walking away and forgetting who you are is complete the reference of staring at yourself in the mirror telling you that you can do it because your Works will count as righteousness. Don't we know who we are when we leave that mirror according to James? We are filthy. But when Paul holds up the mirror we have an unveiled face. I Now understand that the robe of righteousness has been placed upon me, making me acceptable before God. You have a gift of eloquence, David. It takes me so long to unjumble something in my head that I never get around to explaining it correctly!

We look in the mirror and see Jesus as our life and look to Him for everything to live through us. The other mirror is self to live the Christian life in the flesh. David's book Two Mountains four views is excellent at explaining this.

The way I initially dealt with this when I was converted was that James redefines faith in a way that doesn't even require you to be a believer to have "faith". In James 2:19 he seems to imply that "faith" is believing that there is one God, not that "faith" is believing the gospel. Without the correct vocabulary of the gospel, James has to "add" something to "faith" and so the natural thing he had was "works". Even without the history of Acts, it makes no sense that James is talking about making "faith" profitable before men when only believing that there is one God is basically a dead faith, and that's not ever going to be profitable to anyone, and the rhetorical questions he asks seem to suggest that he thinks that his definition of "faith" doesn't justify and doesn't save (which indeed it doesn't with this definition). I think he wanted to assure fellow believers of their salvation by setting them apart somehow, but wasn't sure where it came from, and assumed it was the outward acts of faith in the gospel. James pointed to Abraham's offering of Isaac, which was a picture of Christ, and Rahab's receiving of the spies, since it shows she clearly believed the Lord's promise to deliver the land over to Israel, but he didn't know the exact moment of their justifications. Abraham was already justified when he believed God and Rahab most likely heard the promise in advance long before the spies ever came. James is clearly saying that there's more to salvation than merely believing that there is one God, and without clear revelation he just went by what he saw as a natural man and what he was taught. In my experience this is why hyper-dispensationalism seemed more appealing than some "free-grace" teaching; they can win people over with their handling of James 2, because at least the hypers don't try to sugarcoat what James is saying and just deals with it plainly (albeit by tossing it to another dispensation), whereas Galatianized "free-grace" people seem to be downplaying what James clearly says and gaslight you into thinking he's not saying what he actually is. Both are still in error by assuming James isn't in error and by making up their own explanations that can't be read from the scripture.

😁💯💯 one thing I wanted to say brother is 1 John says 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. Because we believed the gospel, recognize others as brothers who believe it which is loving one another, . Which is really just faith in the gospel. He gives us freely all things by his grace. We are under grace. If it’s by grace it’s no longer by works. That chart seemed like doing dead works, to please God or come to God instead of faith in Jesus. Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?. Some things you were saying were relating to my situations ^_^

When you said "institutional Christianity is an apostate religion" I laughed so incredibly hard in the truth in that😂😂😂 But to tell you the truth, I'm free Grace and I never really knew how to take James2 but I just always kept it pushin, I didn't know if he was speaking to pagans, or snuffing misconceptions pagans had that were new to faith, but I never assumed too much about it to be honest. I didn't know if maybe James was just apostate or what... James was in Jerusalem though, Paul wasn't, and idk if there's a correlation with that, maybe he couldn't be there to teach people idk. But James was never offensive to me, as much as it was interesting when I first saw it.. Andyea alot of people have a huge misconception on what legalism is, FOR SURE! but you can't tell those people, because the problem is that they haven't died to self with Christ, unfortunately...so it makes no difference, ironically I also always tell people we don't get baptized by water. That was a work christ completed, ether that be a Jewish ritual or not, Jesus did it. And Jesus said be born of spirit wich was Jesus/repentance. The point was to leave nothing to be done by us, because there can't be or else it changes salvation by faith.. I'm amazed at the things you have discovered and thoroughly understand,because I hardly ever come across christ saints that have been showed these things. I don't think people understand what Jesus truly did on the cross....He leveled the playing field for all. He has forced death of flesh in order to put faith in Christ, and death of flesh to grow in God's grace; causing death of ego leading to acceptance and love. True love for others. He left nothing we can do, but let go of ourselves. Forsake ourselves, rest and peace causing a child of God to love one another a God has loved us.. When you eliminate everything between one another, there's nothing to hate... In turn that gives glory to God, because we look to Him in thanks and Glory...He forces growth of the fruit of the spirit through this process. It's a shedding process ...dying daily.. And when people say license to sin, they haven't been saved, because faith knows no law, end of the law. I always have the hardest time in life because I've never ever been motivated by money... And I hate this world, 😂😂😂 slot of people do not understand anything you've spoken about here..I've understood these things, and meet few that do... I appreciate this video alot God bless saint

Please check out my James Trouble playlist. James was not an apostate but rather reflected the beliefs held in Jerusalem prior to Paul's revelation. This highlights the significance and need for the revelation given to Paul. It's important to note that James was written before the Acts 15 conference, which pinpoints exactly where he is in the narrative when he wrote it. At this point, Jesus had ascended and was coming back, and while believing in him "saves," justification had not yet been defined with arguments. There were only vague statements from the Old Testament about Abraham being reckoned as righteous because he believed. However, there were no arguments like those we see in Paul, which were given to him by the ascended Christ himself. These arguments proclaimed Christ as the manifestation of God's righteousness, available to Jew or Greek, with or without law, apart from works, and even for the ungodly. They vindicated God's decision to say "peace on earth and goodwill to man" in the face of Satan's accusation. Therefore, it's not fair to "blame" James as he lived under the law, had the Psalms, Proverbs, Deuteronomy, and the Prophets, as well as Jesus' teachings, which were most prominent in their minds. These teachings were the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 24-25's eschatology, and the Kingdom. They didn't know that they were members of the body of Christ or anything like that. So, we cannot attribute to James more than he could have known at the time. However, his connection to Jesus made him the most likely candidate for leadership, chosen and celebrated by men who walked as "mere men" and were carnal. He was, after all, heir to the Davidic throne, and he even looked like Jesus. Therefore, he comes out of nowhere, not a disciple, not an apostle, but in Acts 12, his name appears, and he suddenly becomes the leader in the church in Jerusalem. The mystery surrounding this is there for a reason. The Holy Spirit wants us to ask, "Where did this guy come from, and why is he given such weight?" The answer to that question shows us what the flesh treasures and gives us insight into all of Paul's letters, like the carnality of Corinth. They received the Judaizers because they seemed more spiritual. However, not discerning the body was their sin of "not discerning the body," and it made their table a cup of demons and a cup of the Lord. This is the state of the apostate religion we call Christianity, where people didn't know how to judge who is a brother by the doctrine of Christ, so they received false brethren and turned away true brethren.

@@davidbenjamininchrist Amen, Amen, Amen!! I have picked up on some of the mystery behind James. I have asked myself certain things regarding his significance. I think people forget, we are peering into the lives of humans. These people made mistakes as we did, and still do. The reality is humbling, and I feel it just only brings more emphasis to God's grace. I've always kind of felt the book of James was something along the lines reflecting limitation of knowledge, and the timeline further affirms things about that. It's rather humanizing. I can appreciate the book of James just for that alone. It definitely brings me back around to recalling the fact that they were vailed in Abraham, and how they didn't understand the fullness of being (of a Body) in Jesus. For some reason I never have gotten wound up about Jameslike some have (many have) because whatever others were happening to see, the holy spirit was telling me it wasn't that, and that something else much more in depth natural was going on. I will definitely look into the playlist you have, it seems you've been going at James for at least 4 years, that's pretty impressive! Honestly I just came to your channel because another channel I was subbed to 'Eva saved by Grace' had recommended you in one of her videos I was watching. we have to watch the aggravation with believers who seem to not have spiritual depth. .. if they're not fighting against the truth but just dont see it, its fine, and if we're aggravated that htye don't see something and we do, that means what we are seeing is turniing into something that our flesh is using.

Question: Query: How does David Benjamin handle? James ELIEZAR RESPONSE: --- Based on the theological perspective and transcripts provided, here is how David Benjamin approaches the book of James: David Benjamin acknowledges that the epistle of James presents some challenges when viewed in light of the Pauline doctrine of justification by faith alone. He recognizes that James seems to contradict Paul's clear teaching that we are justified before God by faith apart from works (Romans 4:1-5, Galatians 3:16). However, Benjamin does not simply dismiss or reject the book of James. He understands it needs to be interpreted in its proper historical and biblical context. James was likely written prior to the full revelation of the mystery of the Church and Paul's teachings on justification, sanctification, and our union with Christ (Colossians 1:26-27, Ephesians 3:3-6). Benjamin explains that the Jerusalem church, including James, was still grappling with questions about the role of the Mosaic law and the inclusion of Gentiles. They had not yet fully embraced the radical new covenant truths that Paul received by direct revelation from the risen Christ (Galatians 1:11-12, Ephesians 3:3-6). Rather than trying to force a harmonization between James and Paul, Benjamin suggests simply acknowledging the historical context. He does not believe we should get our core doctrine from James, but rather focus on aligning our understanding with the clear Pauline revelation. As he states, "if it's something that Paul has taught, then obviously it's in agreement with him. But if it's not something that Paul has taught and it's not found elsewhere in the New Testament, then it's not something I'm going to put much stock in."(pgnumb:1) Benjamin cautions against the common approaches of either redefining James' language to fit Pauline theology, or rejecting Paul's teachings altogether in favor of James. Both of these, he argues, lead to dangerous distortions of the gospel. Instead, he encourages understanding the book of James in light of the progressive revelation seen throughout Scripture, with Paul's writings taking precedence as the clearest articulation of Christian doctrine for the Church. In summary, David Benjamin does not dismiss the book of James, but he is careful not to allow it to undermine the central Pauline truths he sees as foundational, such as justification by faith alone and our union with Christ. He advocates interpreting James within its historical context, while prioritizing the teachings of the apostle Paul as the authoritative voice for the Church. (Galatians 1:11-12, 2 Timothy 2:15) SOME VERSE REFERENCES: The 5 most relevant scripture references from the text are: 1. James 2:24 - "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." 2. Romans 4:1-5 - "What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." 3. Galatians 3:16 - "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." 4. Colossians 1:26-27 - "Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." 5. Galatians 1:11-12 - "But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." I will now provide the full verses from the King James Version (KJV). I don't fornicate, eat foods offered to idols, things strangled or bloody. Yet that's not good enough for most pastors and preachers and self righteous people even though that is exactly what James told gentiles like me to avoid.

Well Know wonder I just knew it was true, just didn't know it was actually in scripture > [2 Corinthians 3:15-17] [But unto this day, whensoever [Moses the law] is read, a veil lieth upon their hearts & minds. But whensoever it shall turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away] 😮 And this is why those of works are stuck in law & pride & flesh and cannot perceive grace

Sorry, I have a question if you see this … I here all the time the following told to believers…” get your life right with Christ “ especially if reference to his coming. This has always made me anxious because I start overthinking what I could “ not be right “ about so I start wondering if I’ve offended God or sinned and didn’t ask for forgiveness. Could you possibly explain if this statement is also a works based ideology or legalistic etc ? Thank you again for your channel.

: The Christian life is not about striving to make ourselves acceptable to God through our own efforts. It is about recognizing that we are already made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:22). Our righteousness comes from Christ alone, not from our own works (Philippians 3:9). Therefore, "getting our life right with Christ" means resting in His grace and trusting in His finished work on the cross. he anxiety and overthinking that you mentioned can stem from a misunderstanding of our position in Christ. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our own works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Once we have received salvation, we can have confidence in our standing before God because it is based on what Christ has done for us, not on our own performance (Romans 8:1). We can trust that God's grace is sufficient to cover all our sins (2 Corinthians 12:9). The teachings about the coming of the Lord should not be a source of fear or condemnation for believers. Instead, they should be a source of hope and anticipation. We are encouraged to hold fast to our faith and not let anyone steal our crown (Revelation 3:11). Our confidence is not in our own righteousness, but in the righteousness of Christ imputed to us (2 Corinthians 5:21). We can look forward to His coming with joy and expectation, knowing that we are secure in Him. i recommend going through my playlists and looking for the one about the BEMA SEAT which is the day ofcelebration ofr believers in christ. i have a lot of teaching about how the lord wants us to be freed up from all the legalistic notions that present him as the hard taskmaster so that we can be found without offense when he comes.

@@davidbenjamininchrist thank you so much. I will check out your videos in this. So much is making more sense as I grasp the true understanding of His grace in salvation. Hi David, I believe brother Luke shares the view that it was written prior to the revelation of Acts. I do have a different view. But have no issue with your view or bro Lukes' .. I have never had an issue with James bc I feel he is just encouraging us to follow in the example that Jesus left us making our faith "mature or perfect" as well as making our faith "alive" or profitable. I never had an issue with James bc to me its clear James understands imputed righteousness and the "law of liberty> agaIN, i am fine with your position, I just disagree. God bless you and I pray you are doing well.
@davidbenjamininchrist Жыл бұрын
Well I'm said many times on my channel that that's the safest view to hold is that he's just talking about making your faith profitable to men. What happens is people come here and call us all Heretics and Bible twisters and also reveal that they have a works concept of the Christian Life. I answer here. But those people when they get offended go to other Grace channels and try to pit us against each other. And because someone teaches differently than me they will go to them and say he said this about your teaching. When I'm never heard your teaching. I deliberately try not to listen to other people's teaching so that I'm not boxing at the air and responding to anything other than the needs that are sent to me. And yeah I will argue very strongly on my channel for what I believe to help people and I will block people that are trying to undermine what I'm doing. I clean up my channel and I delete threads where people can stumble over fiery darts that end up bothering them especially new believers. I also delete comments where it's clear they're just here to argue about their favorite thing but they've not even heard the video which is 99% the case. But when these people get offended they go to all the different little channels and big channels and say what is what do you think about what he teaches about that because what they really want you to do is have to renounce something publicly. And I don't care if you do that but I'm not taking the bait. Unless someone is mishandling James in a way that overthrows justification and is abusing people then I've got nothing to say about what they teach as a person they are not going to be the subject of my videos. But I continue to present the views that I hold and I've examined this for 30 years. Nothing I've taught on my channel is something I just suddenly thought up. And I'm never teaching anything just to stir up trouble for some other channel.

Regarding getting our prayers being answered, what do you make of this verse: 1Pe 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. Is this speaking to a different aspect than what you were talking about
@davidbenjamininchrist Жыл бұрын
Yes, he's discussing fellowship with the Lord, but the underlying issue is unbelief. A person may struggle to pray or find joy in prayer because they have unreasonable expectations of their spouse. They may believe that if their spouse isn't "performing" correctly before the Lord, then they are also out of His favor, and it's the husband's fault. This condemnation arises from a failure to acknowledge that both spouses are joint heirs of God's grace and blessings, even in their weakness. Weakness, including perceived failure, doesn't block God's grace in their lives. This is only one perspective, based on my experience of leaving religion. I recall feeling that my wife was meant to be a "testimony" of my husbandry skills, leading me to be under the law and condemnation. This hindered my prayer life because the law and condemnation hinder bold approaches to God's grace.

I think people are afraid of your teaching on James cuz they think they need to square it all nice other wise theyre prolly making some big error. Idk. Im too stupid for it all. If Jesus doesnt freely save me then im done for and im don't have any nice works to prove im saved. All i can do is live from a sight of Christ to the next sight of Christ. Maybe someday ill see it all clearer. It makes me giggle seeing people who act all holy.

Most people in Christianity tell you James is their favorite book. And it's because it's the only one that can understand. It tells you what to do supposedly. Actually it's a very difficult to understand book. But it definitely fits the natural man. The natural man does not understand. I am crucified with Christ and it is Christ in me and that there's another life who is a person for me to know. They are much more comfortable out in the field serving a master who's far off in the house by doing a list of things that they feel that they can know where they stand based on whether they did them. It's much harder for them to just believe what somebody says and count on him to be faithful
