Can’t be a person without a persona!

Fascinating. What I hear is a constant evolving communication between me and the world I am connected with. I am not an island unto myself for soon I would have perished. I see that as I grow in experience I can find a world that does accept parts of me I formerly thought it did not need. I find more useful ways to collaborate with the world as I develop. My dad set us up well when he said he understood we are growing all our lives. As he got older I saw his lists of “rules” got simpler. Thank you for the great discussion.

Looking forward to the next one 🙂 great job guys. Thanks to you I changed my persona from pretending to be a sensory thinking type, to embracing my intuitive feeling preferences. Feels much better this way ❤

Dissolving and reforming the Persona reminds me of the process of tempering chocolate. You need to melt it down and recrystallize it at the right temperature. This changes its sheen and temperature tolerance. I don’t think this is the “correct” conclusion, but I have been operating on the assumption that a well calibrated persona should minimize the variance between contexts. Not bringing the same flat persona to every situation, like was discussed, but I like to hold myself to a set of personal standards regardless of where interact with people. Trying to talk similarly online as in person for example. I would be interested to hear more about archetypes as they pertain to one’s persona. I found I wanted to embody a kind of Warrior-Scholar mindset back in high school which I keep working to grow into in my 30s.

@@AzaresAscending I'm not sure which part you want me to elaborate on, so I guess I'll do all three parts. Chocolate: Tempered chocolate is glossier and more stable at room temperature due to having a different crystal structure. It can handle being held in your hands better, thus it's better for confectionaries. So a good Persona needs to melt down the old material and reform it in order to make it more suitable for sharing with others. My Personas: I have a rule for myself to avoid using the anonymity of the internet as an excuse to have different behavior. When I write messages online, I try to type to others as if we were still talking face to face. I also try to minimize the differences between how I present at home, at work, and when I'm hanging out. Voicing and behaviors vary due to context (professionalism and comfort being big factors), but ideally if you put all the my Personas next to each other, you'd be able to tell they're all me. Warrior-Scholar: I always valued being competent and understanding things, but I was physically a late bloomer. I got teased for being into intellectual stuff rather than sports (and even though I did sports and martial arts, some of my peers would claim I was lying). At some point I was looking Da Vinci being a polymath and looked at at Japanese Samurai and decided "You know what, I want to have some brawn to go with my brain." I joined the Track and Cross Country teams, I leaned into drawing, took the harder track for science, etc. Really, it was more of a mindset shift than anything. It's basically just wanting to be a well rounded person, but the concept of the Warrior Scholar and the Renaissance Man served as a template for my teenage self and continues to be what I pursue today. Kind of like a scaffold that I built my persona on as a teen.

Persona feels a bit like a second mind running simultaneously with your reality. I think you summed it up perfectly with culture. I do think carl jung was basically saying you have to see your persona. To be able to change your persona. It is almost a detachment of the connection of humans. Culture politics. Sum it up perfectly. Donald trump and elon musk sum it up perfectly. It is becoming very concerning that all of it is persona. In america. They are trying to spin it that russia didn't influence the romanian elections on tiktoc i am married to a romanian. They clearly did. it was that obvious it was funny. Persona. Do you think it is hiding much of the truth?

I was trying to remember the names Thalia and Melpomene from the original Greek theater, but the names were escaping me. Thanks for the comment. -Antonia
