I think it would've been awesome if at Phase 3, the endless stairs theme played in the background. Really would've given a sense of fear during the final rush.

Man, imagine if this was the theme that played while the Wario Apparition chased you through all of SM64, with references to "Every Copy of SM64 is Personalized" and the VHS Series that got inspired by that trend. Like, the game is literally burning up so badly at the end, that you can literally see textures glitch and reveal the inner workings of the game itself and all the secrets that lie dormant, such as "L Is Real", unused assets, and so much more! Nice work on this!
