I Love Lemmy. I met him once when I was sixteen years old at the Top Rank in Brighton where they were playing. As there was a bar there, the management wouldn't let us in. We were all only 16 at the time. It was 1979 and the first album had just come out, Motorhead/Motorhead. The advert for the tickets in 'Sounds' didnt mention the bar, so they refused us at the door. Man, we were Pissed off and shouting at them to either give us our money back or let us all IN !!! Out comes Lemmy and starts argueing with the manager..."Let these Kids in -or give em their fucking money back, or We're Not Fucking PLAYING!" I remember all the time he was argueing, he had a pack of Durex in one hand. Later he organised one of the roadies to let us in anyway through one of the side doors, so we got to see them for free anyway. They were really fucking loud and really excellent. It is a memory that I'll always treasure. Thanks to you LEMMY !!!

We met Phil at a record shop before a show. He was quite taken by our roadie Mongo, he loved the name and how it was so fitting. Tony "Mongo" was 6'4" and 275. At the show that night he got thrown out during Iron Fist, then 2 songs later he came popping back in. He said "Philthy was puking in the alley when they threw me out. He looked up and said 'MONGO!"" And they both walked back in. Apparently the drum tech covered the first 5 songs...lol

Lemmy was a great guy. He used to come in for the late showing at the Electric Cinema in Portobello Road in shades with a bottle of booze and a couple of ladies. Sat there all during the film chewing gum. Also used to see and have a chat with him in the pub (forgot the name) on the Portobello Road and I talked to him about a loads of stuff as my Dad was friendly with the guy who did the PA for Jimi Hendrix and Lemmy did some touring with Jimi. He was an all round nice guy and I got pissed off when he disappeared off to the States as he was badly missed in London.

Hi thanks for the story. When was that? I lived in Ladbroke Grove around late 90s, early 2000s. Did Lemmy go there after it was rennovated, late 1990s? I remember that time. Or was this way before then, before it shut down? Also the pub over the road. On the corner. If you meant that one. Elegant building. Its a gin bar called London Spirit currently.
