Decided to do a quick video about one really well done aspect of Whiplash. I'd love to do a full analysis, but with the A Clockwork Orange video almost getting me sued for $900,000 and trying to transition to another new job, I've been a bit busy.
@leogothisoscar2718 жыл бұрын
Initially I wasn't happy that it wasn't even 3 minutes long because I would LOVE see your in depth analysis of Whiplash (such a fantastic movie!), but almost sued for $900,000??? Forget my selfish desires, you just do what you've got to do.

What?! Why? Copyright? Oh, come on... Wishing you the best.
@WhatitallMeant8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's really just made me want to drop the whole thing. The way the lawyer described copyright law, as it relates to music, is that it's so stringent that he couldn't understand why all copyright holders for soundtracks don't do DMCA take downs and so on.
@WhatitallMeant8 жыл бұрын
Yes. They aren't moving forward with it, but it was about to happen had I not taken their call.

This guy's channel really deserves to be bigger. He actually has substance in his videos. but then again, the mass majority of people don't want substance. they want empty eye candy and to stroke their egos. So really what I'm saying is fuck people.
@WhatitallMeant8 жыл бұрын
It would be nice... Thanks!
@DarraghGlynn8 жыл бұрын
Agreed. This channel would persuade more sophisticated people who enjoy such quality to join the KZbin fanbase, unfortunately most people on KZbin are only here to look at cat videos and letsplays. Still, power to this man!
@MrBeastknows8 жыл бұрын
Y'all guys need to stop this circle jerk of "oh I'm so special because I like this stuff and everyone else is stupider than me" it's fucking embarrassing to be honest. You're not any more special than anyone else. Are we forgetting channels like Every Frame a Painting whose videos get over a million views each video? Just chill out and realize how fucking hypocritical you are when you state others want to "stroke their egos" as you stroke your own boasting about yourself in a fucking KZbin comment.
@cheothegeo27428 жыл бұрын
Shane Benjamson When I say "stroking egos" in my mind I was more geared towards the content creators rather than the viewers. like for instance, a guy with a sub count of 700k or whatever uploading a video of himself celebrating his birthday and it gets 100k views. the "ooh look at me having a good time 'cause I'm so fucking popular and relevant. look at how many subs I have". I should have been more specific. It was absolutely not my intention to sound arrogant and above everybody else.
@DarraghGlynn8 жыл бұрын
i agree, i never meant to come across as elitist in any way. I merely attempted to state that i think that youtube has a younger more immature audience and the older, more interested in these heavy hitting movies, type people are not so present on this website. its more newspaper people over internet news people. i hope ive explained my view properly.

All these elements combined: cinematography, editing, sound, and an excellent script make the job for Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons easy and make it look appear natural. FILMMAKING AT ITS BEST!

It does. Keep up the good work. I'd love to see more short-form videos like this one, focusing on a specific well-utilized technique that's really supports the movie's themes. Also, sorry to hear about the Clockwork Orange incident. It's a crying shame but for what it's worth, I really appreciate your videos and the work that goes into making them.
@WhatitallMeant8 жыл бұрын
NimlotSRV I really would want them to be a regular feature, so I at least have some form of weekly output. KZbin's algorithm does me well in browser features, but kills me in sub retention and update. I'm going to re-edit it, but it still has me very nervous.

Chris Stuckmann did a pretty excellent analysis back a couple years ago that was honestly the truest and best analysis on KZbin (somewhat ironically).

whiplash is AMAZING! just thinking about the "finding who's flat" part and the "not quite my tempo" part, and the slapping his face part...it gives me chills just thinking about. I could feel the sadness & anxiety & frustration. I felt so bad because I know if it was me....I'd totally break down, and I don't like for people to see me vulnerable. but that ending...that ending is one best I've ever seen. I can't think of one that compares even though I know there's one out there.

So they sue for $900, 000 as if that's the amount being made off these videos lol. Don't they realize these essays bring attention to their films? Basically, they're saying, "please don't promote our movies on this wide based platform."

stop telling people you would have gotten sued. just talk to other youtubers. its very common for laywers to try and scare you. ignore them and the worst youll get is a letter to take the video down. no one is gona waste the courts time like that. contact FUPA. its free legal advice for small youtubers like yourself.
@WhatitallMeant8 жыл бұрын
+THE SCHPEELA I received a summons and was contacted by the same group that was taking Channel Chriswell to court. His case got thrown out, but he still has to pay court cost and the FUPA lawyers. So no, I might not have ended up actually sued for the full amount, but that's what I was told directly in addition to jail time by Serindip LLC's lawyers.

Maybe I should, if for no other reason than to let them know. It was the music by Wendy Carlos specifically. I've had no trouble since the re-edit though.
