With the acquisition of Skids, I finally completed the 84-85 autobot cast, excluding combines, Dinobots, and Omega Supreme. He looks great with the whole crew and I love the little fellow. I'd love to see a Crosscut in Gen Selects.

The G1 toy had the entire hood flip open to bring out the head. The T30 figure had a similar mechanism. There's no reason why this couldn't. Literally no other transformer brings out the head like Skids does, and since Skids has 90% just been toys leaving out such an icon feature would be like making a G1 Optimus that just flat out doesn't have the truck grill in his abs.

@@PerspectiveEnd No, the ENTIRE hood hinges forward from the grill and the head is attached to the underside where it then rotates up and out before the hood is closed again. Siege and ER Prowl's heads are attached static to the spine, and a section of the hood folds away to make room for the head when the front is folded down to make the chest. This figure works more like Siege Hound, where the head is statically connected to the spine and theres just a panel behind his head that fills out the front.

I got him alongside Arcee and Bulkhead, and I opened him second, after Arcee. I've softened on her over the past week and a half, but seeing as how Skids is everything she's not, he impressed from the get-go. I think the head panel is a nod to the original toy. I feel like they went more toy accurate with him. Between that and the windows, it's hard not to feel like this guy is Toyhax's dream figure. He practically begs to be covered in reprolabels. I don't often get labels for my figures, but as soon as they release them for Skids, Toyhax will have my money.

I just got both bulkhead and skids yesterday, and those figures are amazing. Little warning about bulkhead if you didn't know already, his entire chest section is painted clear plastic, but like with skids, it likely won't Crack if it does what it is supposed to do

I saw Skids in Target today and my first reaction was "Wow he was right, this dude looks great". In hand he is way better than he looked in photos. Also I weighed him and he is indeed heavier than pretty much every carbot I checked (Sideswipe, Datsuns, Wheeljack, and Jazz)

I have this super annoying problem where one of the tabs on the roof does not tan into the legs, so the entire vehicle is just asymmetrical because the right side of the roof just sticks up

It’s a shame your Skids has a bad arm. If you heat up the warped part you might be able to bend it back into shape but you’ve gotta be careful. Any time you heat up plastic you run into some risks, it can warp in way you don’t want, if it cools too fast it can become brittle, and, of course, you could wind up burning yourself. I’ve had to heat treat a few Revoltech figures that came warped out of the box so I’ve got some experience but those are made of a substantially softer plastic so fixing a Transformer would probably be more of a challenge.

I haven't had a mushroom peg issue quite that bad, but my Movie Blowpipe has a loose arm and my Bumblebee Movie Prime had a loose shoulder, and I managed to snap a mushroom peg on Animated Jetfire not remembering that one leg extends for transformation while the other doesn't. Interestingly, my Reissue G1 Skids has a non-mushroom-peg-related QC issue where one of the tires refuses to fold flat into his foot. Still looking forward to eventually finding the Legacy figures at retail.

You might be able to get the mushroom peg on the arm back into shape by using some boiling water, if it's warped it might flex back or you might be able squeeze it a bit to reshape it

It’s good to know that I’m not the only person having the problem of having the right side of skids roof properly tab into his legs. Also I have no idea how bad legacy’s QC is going to be because when I picked up my figures, everything was at the very least okay except for arcee who was absolutely horrid to mess around with. But then I was lucky enough to be able to return it and get a new one that, besides a couple of minor things, was completely fine.

Skids had his own arc in the Marvel comics and he's based on a very popular japanese car apparently, the MP version apparently is more in the old style because it's been made primarily for the alt-mode and this probably follows the same logic hence why they avoided covering car details with the 5mm ports and why it has so much paint.

Before I give my thoughts on Skids, I wanna mention that I found a Siege Refraktor at my local Walgreens a few months ago, and I found they still had it today. I don’t know how they still had it, or how no one bought it within the months that I saw it, but I instantly picked it up. So, one Refraktor down, two more to go. As for Skids, I’m still kinda conflicted about whether or not to get this, since while it is great-looking, the only time I’ve seen G1 Skids EVER was in the few issues of IDW’s first run of comics I have, and he looked way different in there. But, I am working on a G1 year 2 collection, and he would get me to nearly full completion, even if he is a nothing character. I may pick this up if I see it in stores, but I’m not exactly jonesing for it.

This has gotta be the biggest sleeper hit in legacy. My QC is PERFECT, even the roof tabs in well. There just something about this figure that I just absolutely love, the transformation is so fun, the articulation is serviceable, I love the accessories and they simplicity is actually kinda beautiful. This is the definitive normal car former transformation and that simplicity is just so satisfying somehow.

Skids and Prowl in G1 had a similar transformation, that's just how carbots worked sometimes. Not a retool, but he transforms very similarly

Until VERY recently I used to just order all my figures from BBTS party because I hated trying to track them down via retail stores, but after hearing everyone getting Legacy from Amazon I've now placed my orders from them as well, lol. Looks like I missed the initial shipments of Skids since he won't arrive for a few weeks but I'm getting Blaster tomorrow. Woohoo! I imagine you haven't read the IDW Transformers comics? They are the SOLE reason I'm looking forward to Skids. So much character and depth were added in those books that make Skids a worthy figure to have. to be honest, it's no surprise that this looks like Siege Prowl when transforming. Skids always had the same transformation scheme of Jazz, which is the same of the datsuns just without the waist rotation. So the resemblance is good

It think the flimsy arm joint is not caused by a defect. I think the bands that holds the figure in the box can damege the joints because mine has a similar kind of damege at this part and I noticed that before I unboxed skids the band was slid in-between the two parts of the joint ,stressing the plastic and bending it in to that defective shape

As this toy is also going to be sold *as is* in Japan, I wonder if Honda's deal extended to CHUG somehow

I had a major QC issue with my 86 perceptor i got that made transformation impossible. They left some of the channels from the molding process in his shoulder joint so his arms range was around half of what it should have been. Had to remove arm and carve out the extra plastic before I could pose or transform it. Hasbro has been slipping alot recently

I'll be entirely honest here and say that I'm very, very jealous (and a little annoyed) that the US is getting these figures early, just like Soundwave and Terrorsaur, while I'm likely stuck waiting until July, but I'm also still happy that you were able to pick him up. I've not been feeling a lot of hype for Legacy, though. I think it's because it's not really bringing anything new to the table. Siege was a massive leap forward in qualtiy, with insane engineering, awesome articulation, and a slick cyber aesthetic. ER took that engineering and articulation and put it into the most G1 bodies you've ever seen, and Kingdom introduced beasts with their own unique feel that was still consistent to the rest of the trilogy! But Legacy is more like... Kingdom wave 6. It doesn't feel like it has its own identity. That's why I don't think I'm hyped. The line didn't have a hook

I'd say that this feels like a Step up on a lot of WFC quality. I don't think that's what ER did. I think they took worse engineering and quality, and then went pretty G1 with it.

But I know from the molds I own, I've enjoyed most all of them. But whichever side you land on, I think it's hard to argue that it brought something new to the table compared to the previous line

if skids and mudflap were g1 they would be a badass duo explanation skids - mtmte mudflap: in cybertron mudflap was a though and strong frenchman and he even admits joining the decepticons was a stupid idea and didn't this his mentor landmine would want him anymore but landmine accepted his apology and in the end he was ready to help find megatron's spirit ( just go with it) and take him down. so overall this duo would more be like the serious guy who's friend with a brute ( unlike the movie ass characters i would like to see this in the movie reboot/prequel)

Oh hey, another "it's weird" figure! Nice. Somehow, this reminds me a bit of Dark of the moon deluxe bumblebee, with it's build. And not just that figure, the whole line. They abandoned gimmicks in figures themselves, but packed them in guns. I'm surprised I'm this coherent, since I've got freaking fever (102,6 Fahrenheit, if my math is correct - 39,2 celsius). Can't wait for the arcee review, I'm pretty split on that figure.

This pleasantly surprised me. My copy thankfully doesn't have the arm peg issue yours does, if anything my copy feels too tight in some areas. But i like it a lot for what it is. And it may be my favorite of wave 1. Unless Bulkhead blows me away, and Prime doesn't end up being bad. And you'll be disappointed to find out that the other figures don't do the energon weapon as cool as Skids. Arcee literally has a disk that splits in two and mount to her arms, dragstrip has regular guns, and i don't have Kickback yet so i don't know about that one yet.

I would also argue trying to get figures from Amazon is a double-edged sword. Eventually after clicking on one or two next pages, you’ll end up seeing more third part/knock-off Transformers rather than the one you’re looking for. And, sometimes they sell a figure for way too much. Right now, they have Perceptor for $46 while Slug is being sold for $80. Why would they do that for figures who just came out? It’s not like they’re retired already, so their prices go up in value. I know the online market likes to charge a bit more than getting something in store, but this is ridiculous

I was hyped for this figure when it was announced (i am particularly fond of MTMTE Skids,) and when i saw this review i knew i had to snatch him up as quick as i could. Unfortunately at the time i had just spent money on Kingdom Terrorsaur (update on that situation in the replies for the comment on that video) but i just got money and the first thing i got (that arrived) was Skids, and PRIMUS I couldn't be more happy with this guy. Legacy was already starting strong with Bulkhead for me and this guy just BLASTED Legacy to the area of genuine hype for more. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, this dude is awesome

@@PerspectiveEnd Ok, I did a funny, my friend Andrew loves Transformers and I brought Skids with me to my and his Taekwondo class and let him sit on a box next to my sparring gear bag. And he did the core workout really REALLY well. So I said I'll let him transform Skids a couple of times tomorrow (Friday at the time of posting this comment) So, instead of First giving him Legacy Skids to transform, I'll give him the ROTF Missile Blast Skids (A figure from 2009) and then have him do that (Good luck) and after that I'll give him Legacy Skids to transform.

Oh for gods sake... This figure transforms mostly like the G1 toy. That's what the transformation is based on. Not every transformer that has a bumper chest and the arms tucking underneath is a god damn remold from each other. Because if that's the case then only 3 Autobot Car transformers were ever actually designed and every new one has been just a direct copy.

Not saying that. But it does work the exact same way as the siege prowl with the legs working very similarly in how they concertina up and the roof goes over them. It is a Borderline identical transformation, with the biggest difference being they attached the concealing flap to the back of his head, and it has shin panels that fold forward. And I personally doubt they referenced the old transformation just to do it.

Obviously a remold... except they go in the complete opposite direction and the torso transforms nothing like Siege Prowl which had the entire upper body extend out on an accordion spine assembly which then placed the roof over the knees after the waist had been rotated around. And that single hinge to fold the arms out from under the car has been around since G1.

I don’t think I’ll be picking Skids up, but I found Dragstrip and Kickback at Target the other day. Dragstrip is definitely worth picking up with solid articulation, 2 good modes, hardly any kibble and he’s a good generic Decepticon.

My opinion on clear plastic for transformers toys is that it shouldn’t be there. Mainly because there’s no interior to look at and all it does is show off a crunched up robot body.
