A nice look into the past. I still have fine memories of pretenders starscream and a cat pretender. " I have no memory of this weapon because I likely lost it as a kid" - this, 100% this. Happy Birthday, 30 isn't honestly as bad as it sounds. Agree 100% with the rats. Rescued a couple rats from the humane society 6 years ago, the best pets I've had by far. I wish I could have given them some of my time to keep them around longer.

I have such a strong nostalgia for the basic flipformers of this era. I already have the vintage figure but I might get the reissue just to display on my wall. Also, Rattrap’s shooting stats should be higher just for the fact that he was such a sharp shooter. Out of all the Maximals, he probably missed shots the least. Also happy 30! My advice, don’t sleep on your stomach. Your lower back will thank you later! I had to learn the hard way…..

Man My lower back is already jacked up(TWO RUPTURED DISKS SON!!!), and I can't sleep any other way than on my stomach. And the Maximal that missed the most shots had to be Dinobot, though Technically Rhinox because every time he missed it was like 500 misses at once. And just cause he hit the most doesn't mean he had the most fire power.

In short... A precurser to one-step changers, and Animated Activators. An ok-ish figure, but still a fun enought toy. And as for yhe question of tbe video... Is there a character that you like, but you don't like toys based on it? Where there are they either dissapoting, or just straight up bad.

BW Rampage. I hate Rampage's original figure that thing was not fun. It popped balljoints all the time, The Rubber Treads on it were annoying, they always came unspooled and got caught in the mechanism, and he didn't really transform that much.

I had a similar feeling to ball joints as a kid, and I think it might be age related. My Beast Wars figures have held up worse over time than some newer (2010) figures, which I think is indicative that as a kid I treated them poorly, but as an adult I'm more careful and have far less issues.

The "rock bubble" blister packs are based on the very first run of the Beast Wars line of toys. The figures were actually released before the show and by the time the show came out I think they had switched to the smooth round blister packs. I actually have a Rock bubble Dinobot figure still in package that at the time of this comment (6/16/2022) has not yet been rereleased. It's one of the prizes of my collection especially since I got it signed by Scott McNeil!

So every time I transformed Ironhide, I thought I there was always more steps involved in getting him into his robot mode, when I was unknowingly trying to get him into the Magna Boss combined mode without realizing what I was doing.

As much as I prefer the sturdier joints of Siege and onward, the cool thing about ball joints is you can pop them right back in. I still remember bawling my eyes out when I was around 4-ish and broke off one of the rib\wing thingies on my 1991 reissue Grimlock. Granted, by the time BW was brand new I had also learned to be a little more gentle with my toys, but still.

There is that, but now we can have durable and not ball joints so I do tend to prefer that, since popping them on and off is frustrating.

@@PerspectiveEnd Yeah, honestly I prefer everything aside from the head being on sturdy universal joints too nowadays. For an example, the hips on my Siege Sideswipe are still rock solid, whereas those on my TR Hot Rod were so loose out of the box he could barely stand. As much as the rising prices bug me, so far I've had a lot less buyer's remorse with WfC than with Prime Wars or T30.

Note, here in latin america some beast wars, specially in the transmetals line, we had at least 3 languages, later i discovered those multi language packagings were the european versions, not all of them had the multiple languages but i recall seeing both multi language and english only

"Rattrap's rockin' that B.D.E." And that's something that probably can't be said about 90% of the figures. Huh. So ol' Rattle was perhaps the first One-Step Changer. Thrilled? Nah. Only ones I cared about are all stuff I was never able to get: Transmetal Tarantulas, Optimal Optimus, Transmetal 2 Megatron (aka Dragon Megatron), & Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia. (The original T-Rex Megs sucked for being the completely WRONG color, the original Blackarachnia sucked for just being a Tarantulas repaint, and I literally did not care at all about Primal's first two forms...oh, and I ain't like how they had Smooth Pimp Daddy Tigatron as a horrid Cheetor repaint. That also killed interest in Tigerhawk and his repaints.)

Your feelings on this toy mirror my feelings on the Armada toy line quite neatly. I’m fully aware that they are wrong, they are horribly limited, and have some very questionable Engineering at times, but I can’t be mad at it. These are the toys of my childhood and aside from one change, I wouldn’t have them any other way. That change being the Takara Upgraded Grapple (Hoist) not being made of Clear plastic. After seeing Beast Wars-still on season 1-I just got this; even though I do not have nostalgic attachment since Beast Wars was before my time, I still like it. I like Rattrap as a character, and I did not notice that this was not accurate; it can easily pass in robot mode as Rattrap. Out of curiosity, did Kenner/Hasbro ever make a Waspinator possessed by Starscream with a Decepticon isnginia on his head?

To be honest I think Beast Wars might be my favorite Transformers toyline and I don't have any figure from it, for fucks sake its older than me. But the toys have a very appealing vibe to them and I just really like the core idea. I lika both animals and robots so robots who transform to animals is an awesome idea imo. And the figures themselves look very cool too, especially the toyline-only characters. My second fav toyline would probably be RotF or TF2007 but thats besides the point.

I found the Cheetor reissue and for the next couple of days I couldn't stop fiddling with it, I don't even have the nostalgia for it, but it's just a fun toy. Also seeing how the original Gut Gun and tail blaster worked makes it even more confusing how the couldn't include it with the new Cheetor/Tigatron.

Well actually first batch of Beast Wars toys didn't have round smooth bubbles, they had what's called rock bubble and looks like this reissue. It was quickly changed to round smooth bubbles later making rock bubbles more rare. Also Fun fact about original European boxes, they had 5 languages, meaning that there was no room to put instructions on the back. Instead they were on seperate sheet inside the box and there were 2 of them because they were small and they couldn't fit 5 languages so one had 3 and the other 2.

I still love balljoints, i never understood the hate, also, these did 1-step transformations better, with modern engineering why the hell all of the "gimmick" sublines are crap, when decades ago we had, good articulation with the gimmick? Hasbro are just cheap af nowadays, and i feel since they decided to make those 1-steps, and similar, the brand has lost some of its charm

KZbin HATES comments with links in them it's so annoying. I can't tell you the number of times it's let spam bots through but got rid of comments I want to keep. I can't say that I'm all that excited about the new Metroplex, I both have no connection to that version of him, but I also think it looks dorky. I'm not a fan of the design personally. It's not completely offensive like I find a lot of the movie designs, but I still don't care for it. It just leaves me cold.

I have most of my original beast wars box's from the basics and Deluxe class line. The box is close but alot of different stuff like showing other figures in the line an actual bios not just a couple lines. I miss getting actual bios on the packaging telling about the characters abilities what there functions are and other talents like the old bio had he is a spy and a demolitionist.

Yeah, I remember that from the back of his box as well. He never really was that in the show, more just an average crew memeber who could do those tasks. And it does stink that they did the multi lingual thing for these new ones, it really does cut down on the classic nature of them.

its very weird taking into account tranformers stats, ever since g1 they wanted it to make them feel unique but later it made a huge power creep, like if we were to take it into account like die hard fans and the transformers bible, grimlock is the second strongest autobot and then the other ones compared to fcking minicons like windcharger and gears, focusing on beast wars tho surprisingly it had a consistent power level that i could take into account, season one had megatron getting outclassed by rhinox sheer force, dinobot agile speed and optimus wit sometimes, id say this is mainly fault of season 1 being more episodic than the rest so the good guys always won, which meant a huge L for all predacons, inferno was probably the strongest predacon in season 1

I feel like Megatron was always the Strongest Predacon, but he tended to hang back and not fight. Rampage might have been stronger than his Transmetal 1 form but there's no guarntee of that. And yes power Creep is always a problem.

They just have a level of charm to them, while still having at least some level of quality. You got back to a Lot of G1 figures and you go "Really?" but the Beast Wars stuff holds up better than you might think.
