@taan4cc4804 жыл бұрын
MELBIN ACEJAS May I answer as a Thai? 😄 Thai is a tonal language, so tones are the core of our language. It’s based on 5 different intonations (low, mid, high, falling, or rising) which can radically change the meaning of a word and can in some cases mean the opposite.
@69raisinswhy4 жыл бұрын
TaaN 4CC it’s so complicated, and why do they make something similar the opposite. I can already tell I won’t be able to learn this, it probably would take me ages just to learn the difference. I was about to fail my Spanish class as well so I better focus more on that. I wish I was fluent already I don’t have enough patience to learn something as big as a language. At least I know English. Thank you for explaining btw I don’t know what this comment is. I’m just lonely and bored right now.
@herdingborahae4 жыл бұрын
@@taan4cc480 so how would words be understood if someone was sick or mumbling in the Thai language since intonation is important? One thing I worry about when thinking of learning a new language is when it is tonal. I'm afraid that I'll pronounce it wrong and say something completely different than what I mean.

I find that it makes pronouncing Japanese easier, so maybe that's why. Each language has it's own sound and tone, and sometimes it feels like you need to relearn how to speak. But that's what I love about learning languages. I also sound different when speaking different languages.

A class that would be helpful are those common phrases we often hear in Thai BL's - like the P' / Nong thing or some words I hear often like "Law-Lin" or the difference between "I like You" and "I love You" - that would make an interesting class.

The way he explained the pronunciation is very very on point! I'm Thai and I know a bit of phonetics so what he said is quite accurate and easy to follow and it will help you say thai more fluently. Remember to keep practicing to get your mouth familiarized with these sounds. Try not to release air at your final consonants. It will feel weird because you might not feel like people will hear it, but that is exactly how thai people speak. And the intonation is important! Like mandarin, it's offically called "tones." Try saying them correctly and consistently.
