I bought the Ray 2 as well for the following reasons. 1) I wanted to pay with taxes less than $200 USD so was deciding between the Ray 2 and the Mako 2. 2) Between those two as you noted the Ray 2 has a nicer band. 3) I like the style of Ray 2 netter than the Mako 2 as I prefer the watch face without numbers instead of a big 12, 9, 6 on the face of the Mako 2. 4) I like the hour and minute hands on the Ray 2 bettter. Both are awesome values for the money it’s just a matter of preference. The Ray 2 at under $200 is actually a nicer watch than a different automatic diver style watch from a different brand that I previously purchased for $275. For an automatic diver watch with 200 meters water resistant that looks and feels more expensive the Ray 2 is near impossible to beat. It is an awesome watch.

Are the straps of all watches compatible with each other? So can I use the strap of the Orient Mako 3 for the Orient Ray 2?

If only the Ray 2 came in an XL version, around 44mm. It's just a bit too small for my 8 inch wrists (for my taste). Still a great looking watch.
@PerthWAtch4 жыл бұрын
Yeah for that size 44mm would be more suited.
@MFRiley4 жыл бұрын
@@PerthWAtch Indeed. Honestly I think the color is more important than the style. That's why I ordered a Mako XL. As long as it has that gorgeous blue that Orient uses, it'll be a great looking watch.

Just bought 1 used orient RAY II for $100. the crystal and the aluminum bezel was scratched badly. I swap the crystal to sapphire, and swap the bezel with the coin edge bezel mod so I can use the SKX bezel insert which is made of Ceramic. I only spent in total of $190 to get the "Un-scratchable" Orient RAY II

Wore my Titan last night at home, just got it back from a stem repair; As far as your choice al of the above, Get the all black Ray from an online AD Long Island watch, usually don't talk about whom I buy from but Long Island and Genome for you guys on that side of the planet, especially for JDM, technically those JDM have a Japanese warranty and in theory really practice, contact and just mail it back, nowaday international post is not a big deal it's pretty fast, and really not that expensive for a smaller item, yeah ya gonna wait. I prefer to go AD even on lower priced items as Orients, and just buy AD local. Can use LIW or Orient USA. DId buy grey, Titanium Mido Ocean Star, hard to find an AD in the US got a discount on the watch above the posted sale, will get it Monday.

Thanks for those thoughts Michael - the Ray Raven II is popular it seems but I just never tend to prefer black PVD over plain steel whenever I have the choice. Not sure what it is, but partly is that plain steel is more versatile, can dress it up more than black PVD which tends to be more casual/sport. Also depending on the model PVD can make it look cheap. For low priced items like this if there is a good local proper eBay seller then that's likely the best way to get the best price for us here in Australia. As long as it's a legit dealer the warranty will be stamped and valid. I have bought from overseas too but we get hit with 10% GST these days which can break the deal. I have heard of Long Island Watch of course - what do you find best about them?
@VersedNJ5 жыл бұрын
Hacking, Sapphire crystal makes me want think, the company is an established brand, Too close you're at the other side if the planert or woold sent it in for review, while they did a great job at replacement of the stem, it now does not uop tje power scale, but regukar use does, I can live with that,

Don't like the Mako the way the day date takes the place of the 3 with the Arabics, not really balanced look to me. I would go with the Ray II. In fact I have in the past but flipped it to fund another watch.

hi! I was at a store today and noticed how many orient divers had a different shade of blue. I really preferred the lighter blue one but didn't ask which was wich as I moved on. Back at home I started researching orient divers as I think I got bit by the diver bug. Can you please tell me which models have the ligher blue color as that's the one I'd prefer to buy. I remember seeing how the lighter one was smaller. I liked the color but not the size. Thanks a ton for your input!

I’m pretty sure the Ray II has a relatively lighter blue colour in comparison with others, but I can’t be 100% sure... best to compare side by side in person if this is critical for you.

You will love it. A good choice. Some question the strap but I think it's fine. Looks good and the most comfortable I have worn, especially for long periods. Also looks great on a black NATO with the thin red central line, as in the French military style strap. That makes the red tipped second hand pop and looks even better on Sunday...as you will find out. You'll have to get used to the rather small crown though! Enjoy.
