Have you heard of Freud's Dora case study? It was horrible how he treated her. He used to do all kinds of nutty things like gaslight her. Her case study was not only shows how much of a misogynist he was, but was indicative of how women were viewed back then. She eventually quit the sessions. He thought the thing was a failure. I think he saw it as a failure because she wouldn't go along with what he wanted.

Freud also viewed homosexuality as an error. According to his psychosexual stages of development, in the latent stage (4th stage), this stage is where a child's sexual desires are inactive. Here the child is mainly focused on attempting to form non sexual social relationships with the same sex genders. Failure to do so causes a fixation, one of them being becoming a homosexual in the final stage (genital) of development.

Yes, and I as I say in the video, this deviancy is explained by the contradictory “polymorphous perversity” posited as a natural state. It’s why so many qu33r authors use the critique of polymorphous perversity to overturn established notions of heteronormativity.

I remember when I completely wrote Freud off as useful in any sense, particularly as a basis for the field of psychology, when I was going through a psychology textbook around 30 years ago and had the misfortune of reading his "theories" about how infants masturbate by withholding their feces for as long as possible. This struck me as ludicrous, childish, and the most obvious evidence of him being a sex-obsessed crank who would read something sexual into literally anything and everything he came across. After becoming a parent, it also strikes you how little he must have come into contacts with actual infants. But it's baffling that anyone ever took him seriously.
@PlaguedbyVisions4 ай бұрын
@@ssmodk Well, I like to look at Freud’s “usefulness” this way: He was the one who actually attempted to find the human source of madness and abnormality. Where madness was once thought of as definite, Freud sought to prove that there was a logical chain that led to the source of neuroses, etc. Of course, as I say in this video, his conclusions probably have zero basis on actual credible medical theories, but the human imagination that he lent to psychology is, I feel, what’s indispensable.

This is an interesting watch for me, esp. from the very specific angle of being trans, religious, and interested in kink. As one can imagine, I have many super-specific thoughts about perversity and sexuality. I think that hyper-focus on sexual morality is politically useful because it doesn't touch private property, and making hetero- and cisnormativity the golden calf of the religious right keeps adherents of their ideology looking away from myriad socially accepted immoralities.

Revisit some of his takes on “Sexual Morality and the Law” and petitions he was involved with at the time for pardoning certain individuals... Accusations are just accusations, but there definitely is always something askew about “consent” in a lot of these French intellectual movements. Again, it’s the considerations of “limits” that form valuable critiques of society, but adults will always presuppose where their cognition is not present (such as in childhood), which can be incredibly dangerous.
@reikowallach24658 ай бұрын
@@PlaguedbyVisions Well sure, he took critiques of "bourgeois" sexual morality and the carceral justice system too far when he started critiquing age-of-consent laws, it isn't something I'm disputing. I’m curious about the claims on sotos in this video. Are there sources for that quote about him wanting to abuse or for the predator allegations? As someone who can’t figure the guy out, I’m curious as to how you came to such a definitive opinion of him.
@PlaguedbyVisions8 ай бұрын
Read old interviews from him. There’s PDFs circulating. There’s instances where he taunts that the CP that was on the cover of Volume 2 of Pure isn’t even all the CP that was in his possession. This could all still be an act for provocation, but the very fact that he is known to have possessed and distributed (even if in the form of “art”) actual CP makes him a predator in my eyes, as someone who was also a victim of CP.
@theultimatedemondim45468 ай бұрын
In all of his publications and maybe mostly in his earliest work, which is freely available in pdf format if one just googles it up and looks around a bit, Sotos insists on being a sexual sadist who indulges mostly in the suffering of others. He also states in multiple publications that the most ideal victim for torture and rape and subsequential murder is a small child: This because the small child has enough personality to suffer greatly and the most innocence to destroy. Peter Sotos is also in favour of cruelty to animals and all other living beings and states this over and over throughout in his published work. Also he always makes this as non-fictional statement of his opinion. It is not part of a fictional story. It is his stated opinion. If others suffer, Sotos faps to it. Besides his confirmed possession of one old child porn magazine and his later boasting of "having had much more" he is also continuing his personal sadism by mocking the parents (mostly the mothers) of children that were abducted, raped and killed. Real mothers of real victims, also, absolutely no fiction. And he continues to do so because this is a crime he can commit within the safespace of his "free speech". All of these things, which you can easily research for yourself, and many more are proof of him being a predator and a sex offender, even if an extremely cowardly one. One that commits his main crime and his torture of others from behind his writing desk. As said, google has most of his older to mid material in pdf if you lok it up. Read at your own risk. To gaze into this mind can make any sane human cry. If someone took all the vileness, the racism, the sadism, the cruelty, the murder and hate of sites like 4chan and other such places and would fill it into one single person, that person would still be a much better person than Peter Sotos is.
